  1. I got some tins to experiment with, and I want to just use up the wax I have on hand, just to get a feel for how I might like working with the tins. Problem is, some of this wax I've had for a while, and I can't find information on working with it! Some of it, I bought off the classies a while ago and I'm not even sure if it's pillar wax or container wax or what. Here's what I've got on hand: GW 449 KySoy 125 Bluegrass soy container wax GW 423 (marked as pillar wax) GW 444 Something marked as Plain 435 soy/cotton Any information on how hot to pour, what's container and what's not, etc., would be greatly appreciated. I've tried searching, but may have overlooked some things, because I didn't find anything that looked helpful. Thanks!
  2. Debra, I'm glad you're happy with your decision - nice to see someone shutting down a store because they want to and not because the economy is putting them under. It sounds like you've got a good plan going forward, and I hope your business booms in 2009.
  3. Those look awesome! I'd never thought of pouring the bath melt recipe into any kind of mold - I just use a mini muffin tin. Yours are way cuter!
  4. We've got a Wal-Mart here in town, so I'll check there first. Thanks, y'all!
  5. Other than ordering it online, that is. I need some ASAP (like, tomorrow), and have no idea where to look. Thanks!
  6. I like Greenleaf's Cabernet Sauvignon, NG's Christmas Cabernet, and Daystar's Vinnum Sabbati.
  7. Some of my favorites so far: Christmas Pines Balsam & Citrus Lady Apple Cranberry Fig Fall Harvest Caramel Apple (drool!!!) Gourmet Blueberry Buns Grannie's Pumpkin Cookies
  8. Beautiful soaps, and the name just cracks me up.
  9. Taylored Concepts also has an Eggnog FO. I've never tried it, and don't know what the flashpoint is (I couldn't find it on the site), but it might be worth an e-mail to see if theirs can be shipped internationally.
  10. I highly recommend the Frothy Eggnog. It was a good seller for me last year!
  11. Those look great! I've managed layered tarts, but never marbled.
  12. Thanks, Carole! I'm wanting it mostly for tarts and votives, but would like to make scrubs, too. I saw they also have a Candied Yams fragrance which might be nice.
  13. I've found something like what I'm looking for at NG and KY, but neither of them are skin safe. Any suggestions? Does such a thing exist?
  14. I'm on the LUSH forums (LUSH Cosmetics), and a lot of my website sales have come from word of mouth on there and other forums like Makeup Alley, and just from friends and family who know I have a site. I've also gotten some sales by promotions through the Little Black Box, and doing giveaways and things like that, but I've had very few "just happened by your site and thought I'd order" or "googled candles and your things looked good" sales. But if you've got a way thought out to promote your site, then sure, $500 a year may be worth it. The first year, not so much, but as with anything good, it will take time to grow.
  15. The colors are so soft and soothing - nicely done!
  16. NG scents that have worked for me in soy, parasoy, and bath and body: Cucumber Wasabi Cilantro (this makes a GREAT scrub!) Mandarin Tiki Pumpkin Apple Butter Peppermint Patty Fountain of Youth Doodlebug Mrs. Claus Cookies (LOVE this one!) Christmas Cabernet Tinsel
  17. First I tried the soap colors from Chemistry Store, but I found I had to use a lot to get anything other than a really pale shade. I've recently started experimenting with micas, and I like the way they've worked for me in scrubs so far.
  18. I like Cabernet Sauvignon from Greenleaf and Vinnum Sabbati from Daystar.
  19. I haven't used a lot from Cajun, but have had good results with the ones I have used. I think my favorite is Strawberries & Champagne. Their Vanilla Bourbon is nice, too, and the Southern Jasmine. And it's not a FO, but I love love love their Cajun Clean. I use it to clean up my molds, and it works great on other greasy messes around the house, too.
  20. I've used these and thought they worked pretty well. My next batch, I'm trying the TKB pop colors.
