  1. Second test batch, I haven't melted yet - just made it yesterday. But I poured at a cooler temp, and I noticed that that made the tarts a little more difficult to remove from the molds. Not sure if that was due to cooler wax temp or to it being dang cold in south Louisiana yesterday, just an observation! And the tart from my first batch that I'm melting in our bathroom? NOW I can smell it, after it's been going pretty much non-stop for a day and a half. Go figure.
  2. This is my first test batch. 1) your wax(es) choice and whether is it a pillar wax or container wax - EcoSoya PB, pillar wax 2) your fragrance load - 6.25% 3) the type of warmer that works best for you and the wattage of the light bulb if applicable - using a Scentsy light bulb warmer with a 25W bulb 4) your result - I put it in the warmer this morning, and one of my tarts is the same by weight as two Scentsy cubes (what's recommended for use in this size of warmer). The tart melted completely in short order, about 10-15 minutes, but the throw wasn't terribly strong. I had two going, one in our living room, which is a fairly open space, and one in our bathroom, which is a pretty small space, and I didn't get great throw in either. I'll try upping the fragrance load, and if that doesn't help, I'll check out a different wax. The tarts are recently made. I'll also retest one in a few days, see if some curing time makes a difference.
  3. Karen, if this is an ongoing thing, please PM me your address and I'll be glad to contribute as I have some on hand. Lisa
  4. I'm in Louisiana, and I'm currently testing EcoSoya PB. The tarts haven't cured for very long, but right now, the hot throw doesn't seem to be great. Oceangazer, I'll have to try the RE tart wax. Looks like it gets good reviews.
  5. It's warm today. The weekend was lovely! Alas, it's supposed to get cold (for us) in the next couple of days. But I got a new bike this weekend! Woot!!! Hadn't ridden a bike in over 20 years, and man, it's fun. It was a belated Christmas gift from my in-laws. The neighborhood boys weren't sure what to make of the old fat lady wheeling down the street. LOL It was a good weekend.
  6. My in-laws are coming for a belated Christmas celebration. My husband told them, sorry, the tree will not be up that long. It should be fun. I'm also hoping to pour and test some tarts this weekend, but with family here, realistically, that may not happen.
  7. Lovely tarts! I'm just getting back into them with heart-shaped fluted molds. Your pics are making me want to go track down some fun and festive molds and see how those do. Thanks for sharing!
  8. A co-worker has asked me about this. Apparently it was a limited edition Yankee scent, and I'm hoping I can come close to it, either with a single oil or a blend of oils. Has anyone come up with anything comparable? Thanks!
  9. Thanks for this post! I'm considering getting back into tarts after several years away, so this is very useful information. I'll be referring back often, and I'll post my own results when I start testing.
  10. I'm getting back into making bath goodies (and maybe candles/tarts) after some time away from it. I'm refreshing my memory on scents. What's your favorite foody scent? Lisa
  11. Bumping an old thread to see if anyone has any new thoughts on favorites. I was using a wax from Greenleaf, but they've closed, so I'm looking for another good container wax to try.
  12. A while ago I could swear I bought foaming bath butter from a supplier in Austin, Texas. But now I can't remember the supplier's name! Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks! ETA: Never mind, I found it - it was Ingredients to Die For. Sadly, it doesn't look like they sell the foaming bath butter anymore.
  13. Greenleaf Candle Supply closed within the last year, if I recall correctly. I was really bummed because they were real close to me, and I could just go pick up my orders. I think a lot of their scents went to Just By Nature, but I could be wrong about that.
  14. Backwoods' Black Irish. YUM. It's my husband's favorite. I like NG's Cucumber Wasabi Cilantro, too.
  15. In a word, dismal. I haven't done any shows at all this year, what with the baby arriving in April, and now I just don't have the time or the energy. Online sales have been pitiful. I think I'm going to toss in the towel as any kind of business and go back to this being a hobby.
  16. Mine is also a little grainy. Probably OK for scrubs, though.
  17. Lorrie, if you haven't called yet, I'm going to break mine out today. I was trying to use up what I already had open, but since we're checking, I'll go ahead and try what I got from the co-op.
  18. Coco, I don't know about the original poster, but I'd love to see the recipe if you don't mind sharing. Thanks!
  19. Ooo, pretty! I like the one you made in the Pringle's can. You're inspiring me here!
  20. I saw that site, and the page for tube molds says this: "Molds are designed for use with our colorful column (vertical) soap embeds/inserts." So where are their column soap embeds/inserts? I must be missing those. ETA: Just found this on the clearance page: "We have discontinued our ready-made embeds and are selling off these vertical column molds." They've got two left - a cross and a paisley. Still not exactly what I was hoping for. Dang it.
