  1. Actually there is not tax benefit to being an LLC, it's exactly as it is stated...Limited Liability Company. In this business, LLC is the way to go, in my opinion. My knowledge about LLCs comes from the tax attorney I work for.
  2. It's not unusual for that to happen. Back when I sold Party Lite one of their selling features for the votives was you could take the wick out and turn the candle upside down (they had the peaked tops to their votives) and place it in their votive cups that looked like cordial glasses--you all remember them...they were the frosted trio, or something like that. Anyway, I don't personally see a problem with a wick coming out of a candle.
  3. I found that baby wipes work fantastic (and they are great for de-scenting your pour pot) and also if you get dye on your clothes or on your hands and you really aren't interested in scrubbing the heck out of them...eye makeup remover works wonders.
  4. I had absolutely NO luck with stick-ums. Without fail they did not stick. Glue dots, not luck either...I use a high temperature glue gun and am happy with that. Nothing is more frustrating than a floating wick.
  5. Oh Terrie...I'm sorry to hear that. I loved this when I got it from B&BW and LOVED it. I was so happy to see it for candles...heavenly.
  6. I'm dying to know--how does it burn? How'd it smell? I love this recipe as a dessert, and have been resisting the urge to buy...please tell!
  7. I like Caroline Candle Co. very much. I agree with Indescent, it works well with the existing company. I'm imagining simplistic labeling, etc.?
  8. Ange- You are an amazing talent, I find your work so incredibly beautiful. As for E--girl you are a favorite too, I love your rustics. When people say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I believe it, but trust me...I will never attempt what you ladies do.
  9. I have a customer who loves the "wood" scent. I can't stand it. I'm not sure why though...ugh! But that's what keeps the candle world turning.
  10. I loved this one so much I didn't want to pour it, I kept wanting to savor it (dumb, I know), but I made some beautiful smelling votives and can't wait to make more. I don't usually make many candles for myself, but I can't part with these. (Edited because I can't spell worth a darn before a cup of coffee).
  11. I found that I didn't get a good hot throw with zinc...could that be it? I changed to CD Heinz coreless and have a better throw. What type of scents did you use?
  12. Well the beauty of candle making is you can pick your own color selections, but when I hear those I think of: Home Sweet Home in either ivory or pale blue Twigs & Berries in red Harvest in a light cinnamon color. I have a pumpkin spice color and that's what I would use. Good luck!
  13. It's funny because I looked at them all as more seasonal type scents: Moonlit Path for fall/winter (don't know why I think that) Lily of the Valley (spring/Easter) Cotton blossom (May/June) Water Blossom Ivy (March/April) Ok, so maybe more spring/summer but that's what came to mind when I first saw them. But I've never smelled them, more name association. Are these for candles or bath & body products?
  14. I've been warming my "heavy" bakery scents because they seemed to take forever to blend, and it works fine.
  15. Amazing work...congrats on the big order, and right before the "busy" season. :smiley2:
  16. Ok E, I'm putting in my order now. I have burgundy, tan, cream and olive in my living room...What can you do for me? LOL! P.S. I know it sounds like an ugly living room, but it's NOT.
  17. Girl, I'd try for $12.00 each or 2 for $22.00 or 3 for $30.00! Just my opinion--as a consumer I wouldn't think twice about paying those prices. You need to hook up with an interior designer, and get your candles out there where you can charge $20 per pillar (custom created pillars). I absolutely love your stuff, and when I grow up, I want to be just like you. Hell, I'm just starting with chunky pillars, so far away from the beautiful candles you do! :smiley2:
  18. E- I think $10 is extremely reasonable. I would pay that. Heck, what are the pillars that size at Pier 1? I think your stuff is a million times better. I make candles, and I want to buy yours. Out of curiosity--how much do those pillars weigh (approximately).
  19. I guess you could use mini marshmallow molds, right? But, I agree...alot of work.
  20. My personal opinion on Monkey Farts was it smelled like Juicy Fruit Gum. I found it to be a light FO, anyone else?
  21. I can see them quite well. So well in fact...do you need a tester? I think your soaps look fantastic, and I do like the natural look.
  22. They are awesome. They will make great teacher's gifts at Christmas, etc. LOVE THEM!
  23. That's rough. My feelings would be hurt, but something similar (well, not really) happened to me this past weekend. My sister's birthday was the end of July and all she wanted was candles, so I made her (4) 16 oz. Apoth. jars. And I make her candles all of the time, w/o cost to give as gifts, etc. Well, I see this gel candle with fruit in it (sorry you guys who make them, I'm not fond of them) on her counter top. I ask her about it, "it was a gift." Well come to find out my mom tells me she bought it, because she wanted to "try it." Well...my response to my mom was, "well she can try this--try paying for her candles from now on." My feelings were so hurt. My sister is my second harshest critic, but wow--to go out and BUY a candle and put it right next to the one that I made for her...FRUSTRATED. Thanks for the VENT.
