In my experience it is the jar or the colors of the candles. How your candles are presented and the packaging that they are in. I know when I'm looking at candles in the store the color of a pillar or the shape of the jar will attract me then I pick it up to smell. But thats me. When I had my store the most important thing to some customers was the scent and they didn't care what color or jar it was in they just had to have that scent. HTH

Your set up looks fantastic. Yes I would put some pretty cloths on the risers other than that it looked great. Loved the apron!

I have an account with both UPS and Fed Ex and found that Fed Ex is cheaper but if you have them come to your house to pick up they charge an additional $11.00. So you need to take it to a fed ex drop off (I found out the hard way on the additional $11.00 had to eat that shipping charge ) HTH

I'm meeting with them tomorrow so they can pick their fragrance choice and from there we're going to come up with unique names for them. They wanted the status jars with flat lids and may have them engraved (not sure on that yet) I'll know more tomorrow. Will let you know what names we come up with and post some pic's once I get to pouring. Thanks all for your congrat's

I give my friends a 10% discount off retail, my sister gets 20% and my mom won't let me give her a discount she pays full retail. When I try to discount it she gets mad at me and tells me "Well you have to make a living" So I just roll my eyes :rolleyes2 and charge her full retail.

I'm so excited right now that I can hardly sit still to post this message. I just landed a wholesale customer who wants to order over 500 jars for a new store that is opening up at the Hollywood & Highland Shops. They are going to carry high end clothing and they wanted to have a section for candles and aromatherapy items. Now my brain has gone into overtime thinking of all the things I need to do and order. Ok can't sit still anymore have to go and do the happy dance around my house!!!!

Strawberry Fields from Gen Wax is the best I've tried for the real strawberry scent. HTH

I use the black liquid dye from peaks and I get a true black with it.

When I had my store people could watch me make the candles. My candle making area was behind the check out counter and the retail area was in front of that. While they were looking around they could also see me pouring, mixing, etc. This lead to several custom orders as they would ask questions about scent and color. As we all know the lavender is done in lavender, vanilla in cream color and on and on. Once they find out you can do lavender in green, blue,yellow, red or what ever they will custom order their candles and then become a regular customer. They tell their friends and so on. You can build a great customer base just by doing that. When making the decision not to renew my lease and move my business back home I still do the same amount of business just because they could see how the candles were made and they can order what they want in whatever scent and color. So pour for the public they do find if interesting and they will usually become a regular customer.

I made several of the sand candles. You do have to pour your wax at 250 to get it to adhere to the sand well. The sand should be damp not to wet or to dry. If you can make an impression in it and it stays in place your sand should be wet enough. I do add color in the first pour and add the sea shells once the wax starts to set up. When it is almost set I will do a 2nd pour with the ocean fragrance to make the wave as if it is coming into shore. Sometimes I'll add a little white whipped wax to make it look like a wave breaking. Here are a few pic's of a candle that I did for a customer. I used a 3x9 white pillar and cut the wedding invitation in half. Whipped some wax and added the flowers, ribbons, and pearls. Used a glass clock dome w/wood base. Hope you like it.

As I said in my previous post I have made that candle using the same FO's and I call it "Scent from Above". I also have the verse on the label, but I make no reference to Jesus or God in the name. As you can see I did not use the word "Sent". The blend has a very nice scent throw to it and I have customers that really like. Some buy it for the meaning others buy it because it does smell good.
