Thank you for the information Candybee; I usually buy 99% of all my candlemaking supplies from Peaks so I think on my next order I'll order some of their M & P soap bases. We'll see how it goes from there. Thank you again.

But I'm thinking about adding MP soap to my line that I carry in my shop/store. I already make candles and sew tote bags for the store whats one more thing right? :smiley2: Since I have never made soap before I need your expert advise as to what I should buy to start making MP soap. I've been reading your posts and looking at different web sites for bases, molds, ec.t but there are so many options that I'm looking to the experts on this one. I don't want to waste money buying the wrong items to start out. After that I know it will TEST,TEST,TEST until I get it right. I appericate any help you can give me.

I'm sure this subject has come up before but can't seem to find it. What is everyone charging for their clamshells? This is something new that I'm going to carry in my store and wanted to get some input from those that already sell them. Thanks

Were you quoted wholesale or resale prices? I buy all my glassware from Reikes. I don't have to pay shipping as my DH work near there and he picks the order up for me. Reikes does have a min on wholesale buying which is $250.00. So when I do place an order I always buy alot to meet the min dollar amount and enough so I only need to order about twice a year. I take it you make your own wicks? If so yes I do know that Michaels does carry them.

Did you use any additives to it? Sometimes additives will cause that type of look.

Yes I did put scent in them. I used an eye dropper and put just 1 drop in about 6 of the flowers down the center.

This one I filled the hurricane vase with dried camomile and placed the flowers in.

When someone places an order on your web site do you have them register with you in order for them to place an order? What do you think is best having the customer register or have the option to register or not register at all. Do you also think you would lose order if you require them to register?

Finished all the Christmas orders. Will be working on one of my keepsake wedding candles with the glass dome. Having our Christmas tomorrow since my son can only be here for the weekend and has to head back up to Central CA. But I am starting my Valentine candles now. I just received a notice from UPS "Announcing" rate changes effective 1/1/07. UPS ground service to commercial and residential destinations will INCREASE 4.9% whether you prepare your shipments online and drop off or have them processed at a UPS store. Well it's Fex Ex or USPS for me from now on!!!!

I have that mold and have made several candles with it. Just be careful on your wick size. I can't find a size yet that works. I think they are more for looks than burning as each and every size wick it spills over and does not burn correctly. If anyone else has used this mold and have had good results with wicking let me know what size your using.

LOVE LOVE LOVE my comfort blend. I use zinc's in them and have not had a problem with the exception with mushroom when I marathon burn. Right now testing a 42oz vibe jar double wick and throw is awsome both cold/hot. Testing Taylor Concepts Creamy vanilla since we all know what a PTA vanilla can be. I have found that different FO's in the same size jar does require wicking up but I have never had to wick down a size. DON'T ADD ANYTHING BUT UV. Learned the hard way when I thought I would add vybar for container wax it made big ole lumbs in the wax after they set up and the candles looked like crap. I don't scoop I slice the bag down the 4 side with a razer blade and pull the plastic down and use a big ole knife to slice off what I need. That way I can cut more off at a time.

Once you have poured into the mold take your heat gun and heat the sides of the mold while tapping it the your wooden spoon or what ever you use to mix with. This also gets the air bubbles out. Once you see a small amount of liquid wax around the edges of the mold stop using the heat gun and tap until no more air bubbles come up. Tapping the mold alot will also help the wax to settle into the mold. HTH

I buy my cane wax from them but all my others from Peaks but if I'm in a pinch and need wax right away I'll get their house blend it does seem to shrink more than Peaks Pillar wax. Also, if your looking for the creamy look you'll need to add vybar and don't forget the mold release. On their fragrances it's a hit and miss I do use some from them that are really good and I've got some that are not so good. But overall they are a good supplier it just depends on what your preference is.

I get my cane wax from Gen Wax I like theirs the best out of all the supplies I've tried.

I also use Sams Club for my merchant account. They had the lowest fee's when I was looking around. When I set up my account they provided me with the charge card slips. So if your doing a show you can fill in the information on that call to get the pre-auth and the customer will have their copy and you will have yours. HTH

I do private label for a couple of my wholesale customers but my name is on my warning labels along with my web site address. I make it a requirement that my warning label has to stay on the candle and can not be removed for insurance purposes. HTH

I would trash the e-mail!!!! They want to charge a fee to put you in the network sound like a scam to me.

I also use the 5294 2-1/2" avery. They work just fine on that size tin.
