  1. I blended the 3 FO's that go into that candle and it does smell good. Bought my FO's from Natures Garden. I call mine "Scent from Above".
  2. Made these as gifts. Hope you like them.
  3. I've only found 1 site that carries this fragrance "Candlechem Co" does anyone else know of another supplier that carries this. I tried the fragrance finder site and the fragrance is not listed. Thanks
  4. Use a pair of panty hose:shocked2: I use them for both my pillars and my jars wipes the oil and fingerprints off.
  5. This was not my day for holding onto candles. I'm trying to get 2 gift baskets done and made the candles last night. When I was pulling the 3x9 pillar out of the mold it just slide out and fell on the table on my glass thermometer and broke it and the mecurey ball was stuck in the candle. Ok so I'll redo that one. Well it did not stop there:sad2: as I was putting the small 3x3 matching candle in the bag to seal up I dropped that one on the floor and what do you know ruined:mad: so now I'm waiting for the the 3x9 to finish up already did second pour, but waiting for the small 3x3 now to do the second pour and have to deliver the 2 baskets in 1-1/2 hours. Can it get any worse? The moral of the story is HANG ON TIGHT TO FINISHED CANDLES!!!!
  6. Does anyone know where I can find plain rub on transfer paper. It's the type of paper that you can get with pictures or writing on then just rub the pic or letters off onto the item. But I need just plain sheets!! Thanks Forgot to add can't use heat since it is going to be put on a candle has to be clear transfer rub on.
  7. If your looking to do an SBA loan you really need to be established with all your testing and marketing. SBA requires you to be ready to start selling. They are not going to loan you money for testing only. Depending on who you try to get the loan with they require that you have a business plan to submit with your application. SBA will help you free of charge to write a business plan. hth
  8. Most sign shop's ie: sign-a-rama (who have offices all over) does them. They are well worth the money. They also do business card holders with magnets for your car also. So when you go somewhere and park just place it on the side of your car and people can get your business card also along with seeing your business name on your back window or side doors.
  9. Well said candlebean!! When I first read this post I thought to myself how rude candleman's response was. Even though I don't post very often I have been coming to this board for over 2 years to read and learn. I for one would not have responded in such a manner but that's just me.
  10. Yes it will work in tea lights. I always use my leftover wax in them and my customers say that they have a great throw when burning.

It has the best hot/cold throw that I have worked with and I've tried them all. So if I run for the hills it will be for vaseline wax!
  12. Comfort blend all the way for me. I get the best cold/hot throw from this wax. I tried 1945 and could not get a good cold or hot throw from it. I also blended comfort and 1945 cold/hot throw was ok but does not come close when I use comfort blend alone. HTH
  13. I tell people it took me close to 3 years to get it right by testing different types of wax, wicks, scents, and sizes. If they want me to teach them how to make candles then they can pay me $75.00 for a 1 hour class plus supplies and we will start out making votives after that the hourly rate goes up for the pillars and containers. They usually give up after that.
  14. Try Micheal's or a craft store that has candle supplies near you. I know micheal's carries small bags of additives.
  15. link for mold release http://candles.genwax.com/candles/___118987___Z501000.htm I use this and I don't spray any of my molds now matter what type of wax I'm using. (with the exception of container wax)
  16. I use comfort blend and the same thing happens to me. I just use my heat gun to level the top off
  17. I have tested many container waxes and have found that comfort blend has been the best. Yes it is sticky and a PITA to work with but IMO it has the best hot/cold throw for me. Some have said they did not get a good hot/cold throw using it. As for blending together I have done comfort blend and 1945 which also has a good cold/hot throw blended together. But then again if you don't like the sticky comfort blend I don't know what to tell you.
  18. I bought some palm wax from candles and supplies and need your help on wicking it. I only have square braid 1/0 on hand for my other candles. I was reading that RRD or LX would be the wick to go with for this wax. I don't use wick pins in my pillars so can anyone give me an idea as to which size I should order for 3x3 and 3x6 pillars so I can start testing these. I also need help for the votive wick size and I do use wick pins on those. Thanks
  19. Love em Love em They are wonderfull. Please tell how do you do that:drool:
  20. Ok have to chime in on this one. When I was making candles at home and the City required me to get a home permit for the business I had to go around to my neighbors and make sure that my candle making would not bother them. At that time my next door neighbor's son and my daughter's friend at the end of the street were getting married. They asked me if I would make the floating candles for the center pieces and I agreed. Being the nice person that I was (as you can see I said WAS) I did the candles and matched them to the brides maid dresses which was a PITA as it was a ugly green color and did not charge them anything. Needless to say when I dropped the candles off and even after the wedding I did not even get a thank you note or a thank you to my face from any body. Not the brides mom, the bride or groom. Now you can see why I said I WAS a nice person regarding candle making for a wedding when it comes to friends or neighbors. It wasn't the money that brothered me. It was that fact that not one of them said thank you before or after the fact. So in my humble opinion charge them either retail or your wholesale price and don't let friendship cloud your business judgment!!!!
  21. Haven't posted in a while. I did these for myself:) I received 3 crystal candle holders for X-mas and I'm going to put these on them to sit on the mantel over the fire place. Their scented plumeria
