  1. I apply mine after too! For all the reasons above, plus have to use my heat gun sometimes and not sure how the label would react.
  2. I don't use the square masons, but you could try weighing it at each level to see which weight is more even. I think it looks better if all you see is wax when the lid is on. JMO
  3. Looks great! Neat idea using the bucket! They'll love it, and their house will smell yummy.
  4. I'd start with one of the three largest sizes you have and see how it works with your wax and FO. Keep in mind that you may need to burn it a few times before it goes all the way across; it should catch up on subsequent burns. You might want to start out with a simpler jar until you get the hang of it. I tend to get more wet spots in my balmorals than the straighter jars. HTH!
  5. NuScents carries one and everyone likes it in my candles. Didn't know it was B&BW dupe; sorry I can't compare.
  6. You can also just put a candle on a warmer or use reed diffusers. One of my doctor's offices uses the reed diffuser, puts out a nice light scent and looks nice too.
  7. Looks great, Heather! Nice job!
  8. Hi, DJ, welcome! Here's a link listing lots of suppliers. It's always good if you can find one close enough to pick up or at least close enough the shipping isn't too bad. A lot of suppliers offer kits, which is a great way to get started. http://www.candleandsoapstuff.com/Suppliers_by_State.html Just reading the current posts will give you lots of information; there are many kinds fo soy wax out there. If you haven't found it yet, the search feature is very helpful!
  9. Gotta keep the ands -- it's like lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Could use the symbol & to save space if needed. Congrats, Bunny!
  10. I think I have seen them at dollar stores too. Not sure of their quality, but they're cute. I know Target has them with the purchase of a hooded towel. Then you'd have a matched set. You're going to have to post pictures, you know.
  11. If you go with the non-disposable wash mitt, they already make cute washcloths for kids that you put your hand in. No sewing needed! We have a duck one, it's almost like a puppet. I don't do soap, but would there be a way to liquefy your soap, soak the cloth, and let it dry? If you sew something together, it would be real quick to just to a quick seam along the outside. You don't really need to put a thumb in it. You could do bunches at the same time. Sounds like a fun experiment! Can't wait to see how it turns out!
  12. Those cloths are neat. I wonder if using those thin cleaning cloths would work. Let's see if I can describe them...used by restaurants and such...kind of red with a bit of a pattern to it. They can be washed a couple of times before wearing out. Maybe a restaurant supply store? My husband works for Gordon Food Service, and they sell them. They have stores called GFS Marketplace where anybody can go without a membership, they're just not national yet (except in Canada). Some heavy duty paper towels might work, too. They're making ones that hold up better to water.
  13. Haven't tried EOs in votives yet, but I use .5 oz pp. I've read a couple places that it's better not to use stearic in the V-1; other places don't mention it at all. Are you letting your candles cure? Soy needs time to sit before putting out a good throw.
  14. Just by Nature has Farmer's Market which is described as peach, magnolia, & raspberry. Throws great! Haven't smelled the others, so I can't compare. I have a sample from them and love it.
  15. I had a candle come out burning a lot longer than I thought it would. Think I had tried subtracting the weight of the jar one time and not the other. I don't remember exactly what I did, but the second time I timed it was much better. Sorry, not much help. Just give it another go!
  16. I gave a friend of mine candles for her shower, and she loved it! I made up a little basket assortment, didn't try to match colors or anything; depends on the bride, I guess. It's also nice word of mouth to build sales (bring cards).
  17. You can try a size larger and see how it goes, make sure it doesn't get too hot. There is an LX 30. I think 4 burns might be kind of pushing it. Anyone else?
  18. I personally don't mind if it takes 2 or 3 burns for the melt pool to catch up. Those wick sizes usually work for me in a jar that size (I use C3 too). Have you tried the HTP 126 yet? Also, it seems the first burn sometimes takes longer than 3 hours to achieve FMP. Yes, it's frustrating, but you'll get it figured out! How close to the edge are your burns coming? It's there's just a little bit, it should catch up; just keep burning. HTH!
  19. spiced coffee? spicy brew? cinnamon java?
  20. Fern-Marie, I don't use that jar or those waxes, but how much FO are you using? What sizes have you tried already? With the bouncing, could the candle possibly be in a draft? This could be a few different things, more info might be helpful.
  21. I'd try it and see. Or just start with one size smaller. At least you have a reference to give you a place to start. I make two testers so I can test more than one wick at a time; try one with your 4 and another with the smaller size (sorry I don't use Ecos). HTH!
  22. Sab, Are you doing more than one burn? I've found that sometimes the first burn doesn't completely clear the sides, but subsequent ones clean them up. Just a thought. You'll get it!
