  1. I made up about 100lbs of VW cars and buses and what not for the VW car shows we go to during the spring and summer and still have about 30lbs left. There are no more shows for this year for us so here we have 30lbs of soap left. Aside from us and family using it up (which will take a while), how long does this stuff last?
  2. Not so sure about Air Bubbles in general, but, Air Pockets.... I have a couple candles by someone on this board that when lit, one of them exploded and I had wax all over my table and the wall next to it because of an air pocket. Poke, poke poke!
  3. I do both soy and parrafin and can get my soy candles to soot... I think it was very well said above, a properly made and properly burnt Parrafin should soot very little as well. I do not find that many of my F/O's perform as well in my soy as they do in my parrafin. I dont think F/O's have been perfected as well yet for use in soy. And for those of you who worship your soy, god bless you. I dont think one is better than the other.
  4. I sell alot and also make alot of candles in the Bee Jars that have the cork lids and have never had a problem with the scent being absorbed in the cork. I actually have one right now that I poured well over 6 months ago with a cork lid and it still smells as good as the day I poured it...
  5. I have never been able to get my Wick Stickems to stay put in the bottom of my Tins and everyone thinks Im crazy so dont feel bad!
  6. Im going to have to say, "Sinful Pleasures" from Pourette. I pour mine in light pink and it is the one I sell the most of!
  7. I just purchased another dozen of these jars from Candles and Supplies about a month ago but didnt know that they were no longer carrying them. Had a little difficulty wicking them but they have been a very popular jar for me. Sorry, I dont know of any other place that carries them but will keep looking for you. Im bummed they dont sell them anymore. Didnt know that.
  8. Did over 4 times my booth fee! Thanks to everyone for they're support and finger crossing! PS..Missed out on quite a few sales because I do not sell Soy though.
  9. Any of you do Candle parties and how do you set one up and go about hosting one since it is not like a Candle-Lite or Pampered Chef party where its set up in a certain way. Any ideas, let me know. Thanks everyone!
  10. This is a 3 day Street fair show with attendance of about 60,000 and since I was down for almost a month with a surgery I had I was only able to get about 230 containers, 50 pillars and 70 votives done. Do you suppose this will be enough? Cross your fingers for me and wish me luck! Kinda nervous!
  11. Can you tell me the link to Early American? Is it just earlyamerican.com?
  12. Where do you all find the little display boxes that hold the votives? Thanks
  13. Does anyone have 8oz to a lb?
  14. I was in a Hallmark store the other day that was selling 12 oz Apoth 'style' jars for $26!
  15. Thats what Im trying to do is make my own recipe using the soap calc! I need to understand how to use it to make a recipe. I have the following; Olive Coconut Hemp Cocoa Butter Apricot Seed
  16. Im ready to go... I have everything I need and I have to have it done this weekend for all of us doing the cp challenge but I DONT UNDERSTAND how to calculate a recipe with the soapcalc9 that everyone uses. I have to put in the amount of oils Im using but thats just it, I dont know how much to use. Can someone please help me understand how to use it? Thanks so much!
  17. What might one mix with Rootbeer to get a Rootbeer Float FO? I was pondering with French Vanilla but thought I'd ask for suggests... Thanks
  18. Ok, I have gone through 2 thermometers in the last month for my candles. I am using the ones that you have to read at an angle. The temps are listed down the side and it slides in a white round sleeve. What is everyone else using? They're only $4 or 5 dollars, which is maybe the problem...
  19. How many is too many? We're having FO and VW parts wars in our house right now. DH says 71 FO's is too many for someone whos only been doing candles less than a year!
  20. It has been my experience with M&P that if it wont come out of the plastic mold, you havent let it sit long enough. The longer you let it sit in the mold, the easier it is to get out. Shouldnt have to use anything on it.
  21. Yes, this was the first burn in both the jars. She said she didnt trim them at all! I burned one for about 2 hours out of this batch last night after I got off the phone with her and had no problems with the wick drowning...
  22. Hi! I had a friend that I made a couple candles for in 9oz Hex jars and she called last night to tell me that shes burned both of them for a couple hours and neither one of them would stay lit because I filled the jars too full. I asked her if she was trimming the wicks too short and she swears up and down shes not. I have probably tested about 30 of these jars with every kind of wick imaginable and get the best results with an LX 14 and have never had a wick drown unless I cut the wick too short. Mind I tell you I love her dearly and we would do anything for each other BUT she is on the opposite page of anything I do. Doesnt like my hair when I get it cut doesnt like the shirt Im wairing, doesnt understand my interest for candles and soap and on and on! I have asked her to bring them over and let me look at them but she doesnt know when she'll have time to do that! So anyways, I always fill my containers to the first line in the jar and leave the wick about a half inch when Im done. Does anyone think shes trimming the wick too short or did I fill the containers too full (which to me doesnt have much to do with it if your using the proper wick and leaving it long enough)??????
  23. Yes, it is SUPER STRONG! To make a long story short...I was very embarrased to learn that you could smell it about 3 houses down from us when I poured it! Neighbors dont seem to talk to us much anymore!
  24. Heather... I'll be nervous with you! After reading a bunch of articles about Lye, the DH wants to know why in the heck Im going to try CP, got him a little freaked out too! Good luck to you, you'll do great! I'll be making mine this weekend, hopefully. I purchased 2 of those white no-liner molds from Ebay so I cant back out now!
