  1. Wow - I learned something new today. I didn't realize that DPS/Morris sold products other than wax until I seen this thread. That is what I get for assuming they were only a wax supplier :tiptoe: I buy my Jingleberry from BCN. After the holiday's I rename it to Basket of Berries.
  2. What ?!?! It seems they would leave well enough alone ! Not only am I having a hard time getting it cut but my testers don't seem to be throwing like before . Anyone else noticing it or is it me thinking I can't smell ???
  3. CMS called back and pretty much gave me this same information posted above regarding the 4627 wax. I am amazed at the variance.
  4. Was your batch from Peak's very hard to cut? I think I may develop carpal tunnel getting it cut up to put into my melter.
  5. I called the CMS , they are going to check into it and call me back. I'll post what they say.
  6. Has any noticed inconsistencies in the firmness of the 4630? I have been testing it alone and blended, buying a slab at a time. All slabs I have bought cut like butter, very easily. Liking my test results I bought a 60# case. This wax is FIRM, very hard to cut. Bought it from The Candlemakers Store and just recieved today. They were closed when I opened the carton so plan on calling tomorrow but it is bugging the crap out of me tonight. The label says it was made in Canada, anyone else run into this?
  7. Glad to help Actually I used to buy the A&F from soapandthings but that is about all I got from there, so I took a sample to Southern Scentsations and they were able to match it Their price is much better, the oil performs identically and I get alot of other supplies from them. They have great oils and their CS is top notch ! ETA - I am not affliated with SS just a happy customer
  8. Yup, soapandthings A&F is Fierce . . Southern Scentsations is Fierce also. Not sure about Just Scent but would like to know as well.
  9. OMG !!! Absolutely divine - very beautiful !!!!
  10. I figure as long as I report all my taxable sales (sales taxes, and income on state and federal returns) I am in compliance. I am a sole proprietor (sp) not a LLC or corporation, so I don't mess with 1099's. I let the organization deal with keeping track of their profits / earnings even if it is over $600.00.
  11. I keep it simple - when we close out with the fundraiser I automatically calculate their % and provide them with their earnings and enter my % as taxable sales. I don't issue any 1099's. ETA - I only worry about keeping track of my reportable sales
  12. I have done fundraisers with groups that are not exempt and I add a column on my forms that they collect the tax at the time of the sale. I treat it as any normal sales and claim the state taxes appropriately.
  13. I used to use soapandthings but switched to Southern Scentsations. To my nose they are identical. I sell lots of this oil in both B&B and candles. www.greatcandle.com ETA - I use the A&F for men
  14. Thanks PA for your kind offer and MM for the tip . . I really appreciate the help !
  15. Yup, I use the 2.5" round labels and they work well.
  16. I am hoping someone, possibly graphic designers, can help me with a problem I am having with graphic file names. I purchased my web set files a few monts back and I am finding that the file names are not compatible or titled correctly for some hosting companies. WAHM's require all files be .gif or .jpg, my header has a .png extension. Designer 218 requires the buttons to have specific names, i.e home page button must be homebtn.gif, topper must be pagetopper.gif, other files must be .gif. My files are not titled per their requirements. The designer I bought them from says they work with various hosting companies including the 2 I mentioned. I have tried repeatedly contacted the designer / site where I bought them and they are not replying to my emails. Is there a way for me to modify them before signing up with a new host?
  17. For HTP wicks I would start with a HTP 105. Zinc a 60-44-18.
  18. No comment . . .PA said it well . . . :tiptoe:
  19. Hotter pouring temps with tall and thin seems to me might cause sink holes, like Trapp asked are you opposed to capping off / repouring? I would think sink holes would form and it may be needed. Possibly pre-heat the larger jars a bit hotter in the oven on the lowest setting or popping into the micro before pouring at your normal temp. Just a thought . . .
  20. Wicking is the key . . All candles (even soy) can produce an unclean candle if not wicked properly
  21. The rule of thumb is 1 hour per each inch of the candle diameter, ie 3" candle - 3 hours.
  22. Usually by blending soy and paraffin you can get the best of both worlds . . cleaner burns with a strong HT.
  23. I have not tried Cybilla's scents nor have I ever ordered from Brambleberry. This is something I will look into though . . .
  24. I remember that Snowtop's used to carry 51-36-18z wicks but they are now out of business. I'll check to see if I still have any and will send you a PM. I would suggest trying a 51-32-18 cotton for the in between size . . .
  25. I mix CS Macintosh Apple with Keystones Hazelnut. It is delish !
