  1. Does anyone like Peak's Strawberry FO. I received a sample in my order and I don't get a strawberry scent oob. I know I have to try it in wax to find out. But I was just curious.
  2. I agree with Darwin, I use their Wild Raspberry and their Black Raspberry Vanilla. They both have killer scent throw.
  3. I forgot all about them and that is my 415 supplier. I love their FO's. Thanks Carol!
  4. Does anyone know of a supplier that has a strong Cotton Candy and Buttered Popcorn that throws well in soy. I tried NG's it didn't have a strong enough throw even after curing. I used 1.5 oz and still not strong enough. I noticed on the board for FO's for soy CC wasn't listed in one site. Should I assume this isn't a super strong scent for soy.
  5. I use EO's in soy wax. I haven't had a problem them yet. As a matter of fact I mad some 8 months ago of Lavender spearamint and opened them yesterday. Uffdah! Just as strong. As far as pregnant women they are not suppose to have direct skin contact with certain fragrances such as Lavender or Orange blossom. They do absorb through the skin to the blood stream to the placenta. Aromatically it is harmless. Its how you store them that makes a difference. EO's evaporate faster so you have to keep them air tight plus they are photsensitive so they have to be stored in a cool dark place. Its a drawbrack but I love the benefits. I can tell the diffence between the EO's and the FO's because I have been working with EO's for so long. The average consumer wouldn't know the difference unless he had them side by side and you point it out to them.
  6. Beverly you are right. I use soy but my husbad went to Yank** last year and bought about twenty of their candles. They have wet spots all over their jars and their tops are not perfect. If I knew how to post a picture I would show you all a ton of them. Depending on the temp of my house 415 will do it sometimes but not always. But 464 hasn't done it at all yet. I have asked several people about the Eco and they complained about the wet spots. There are several posts on this sight that mention it. I have had good luck with Golden Brands.
  7. Can someone find me the article that mentions soy wax tested by the EPA. That whole article I read and it never mentioned Vegetable wax. It only at the most mentioned Paraffin, beeswax and incense. And most of all lead wicks. Just curious because I didn't see or find anything mentioning soy.
  8. If HTP 1212 works well I wonder how 1312 would work? I have so many of them.
  9. There isn't a book for soy. I have searched high and low. I am a bookaholic. I wouldn't doubt because it is so inconsistant to work with that one hasn't been written yet. Let me know if you do find one. I would love to read it.
  10. I use 415 also and love it. Sometimes its not always the wax. Certain scents just do not throw well in soy period. Certain wicks don't work well. Certain rooms don't work well. I usually do a true test by burning a large candle in my kitchen. Then I go upstairs in the hallway. I have a double staircase so it travels through my house. If I smell it up there. I consider it a great scent throw. I have actually had scents too powerful for a small room that I lose the scent because of candle nose. MC is Golden Brands and there are a lot of people who find that a great wax to work with. Container blend is probably what you are thinking of. 444, 464 they are container blends. Try those maybe they will have a better throw for you. I usually consider that everyone has a different sense of smell that is why we all don't agree on this board.
  11. My first shopping experience was with them they are nice fragrances but I sometimes find suppliers with stronger scents. I do agree their website is hypnotic that is why I stay away from it and test samples from other sights.
  12. I know who one of Bittercreeks suppliers are and spoke with him about alcohol in the fragrances. He said they do not use alcohol in them they use binding agents that adhere to the wax molecules to hold the scent. Sometimes what we perceive as a alcoholic scent might be a strong chemical smell until it is used in wax. I have used bittercreek and no problems what so ever. Millcreek is another company with an alcoholic base smell. But it puts out excellent hot and cold in soy. I believe they import some fragrances from the same manufacturer.
  13. Tia, some plastic bottles are stinky by themselves inside so it could mask the scent. I know I ordered some Birthday cake from Lonestar a month ago and thought it smelled fuel like oob and then I made a candle with it big difference. I don't like the plastic bottles for that reason. There is no true test until it is put into wax.
  14. I agree with mystic angel. We respond to color if you were to take a particular scent without color and hold it under someones nose and not tell them what scent it is. They won't identify the scent as easily. Our eyesight ties in with our olfactory senses. I have tested that theory with several people to determine if I wanted to go colorless or not. With fruits, coffees and bakery scents I color. Florals and aromatherapies I leave plain. I truly like color because I coldn't take scents like Cotton Candy or Birthday cake and have fun with them. To be honest if you were to take a empty room and have nothing but Ergo on one side and Beanpod's on the other. I would honestly go for the Beanpods because of the eyecatching effect of the color. If you honestly notice the packaging between the two brands Beanpod is simple. Ergo has to use a noticable box to sell their simple plain colored wax in a tumbler. I imagine Ergo pays more in marketing costs than Beanpod.
  15. I would go directly to the main supplier www.aromaartsupplies.com/
  16. Have you thought about trying Goldens 464. You can pour it hot and the scent throw is great. No problems with glass adhesion. I gave up on beeswax too for that same reason. Now I use 415 for colorless or light colored dyes or swirling colors that require a thicker consistancy when pouring. And 464 for all the specialty containers or the bold colors that show the tops a little more. So far so good. Unfortunately there is no guarantee of a perfect pour everytime with any soy. I don't use it but parasoy is the only one with the most consistancy.
  17. Actually Lavender is a great repellant for indoor pests. I usually make a lavender, Peppermint and Citronella blend candle for outside. Peppermint is the one they dislike the most though. I learned a long time ago when storing clothes to use a piece of peppermint chewing gum to keep the moths out.
  18. I don't think that theory would apply with open candles as opposed to lidded. Scents open to air tend to fade in time.
  19. Depends which kind of palm wax. I know palm is known for being hard to wick and not having a strong hot throw.
  20. I read with some suppliers that butterscotch is not a strong thrower with vegetable base waxes.
  21. I have been using the 464 too. I don't get any seepage or burnt smell. I know I have problems with 700 series wicks if I wick too high. I don't have to wick as high as with regular soy wax I am noticing. With adding beeswax I had to wick higher and it burned way hotter to fast. So far I notice the 464 burns slower. I would pull back on the FO load and wick down from your typical soy.
  22. I am curious is it 100%. Or a container blend? I use MC's 125 and it is not a blend when it is GB's 415 that they supply.
  23. Jolsen I agree with you. I made a big tester of this fragrance. My husband is a big big big coffee lover and I adore the smell of all coffees. This one did not throw well for a great coffee experience. I have a bag of the real deal in my cabinet. It doesn't put out enough cinnamon scent. They need to tweak that one a little more.
  24. Okay here is a retarded question. If people are making candles out of the Maryjane FO. Have they ever freaked someone out when they are burning that candle. Let's face it for those of you who have experimented you didn't do it for the scent. I couldn't fathom the idea of burning that scent unless people do it to remind them of the good ole days without the munchies. I would be afraid to burn that scent I could just picture my in laws walking in and thinking I make funny candles.
  25. Peaks is exact and very strong. I made one with 415 soy. My sister walked in while I was burning it and asked if I just did laundry.
