  1. Hi, thanks for all of your replies. I think i'll try Bitter Creeks Norths version- i'll just order a smaller bottle this time to make sure its o.k, the only problem is the kart on BCN website wants to charge me about $170 for shipping to England, hopefully this is a mistake( i've contacted them) as i really need some real smelling angel. The candle makers stores one didn't smell anything like angel at all, so so much so that i am not happy sending candles out to customers made out of this and the candle makers store wouldnt even do anything about it! ( So i would reccomend to be careful when buying angel from this store)
  2. Hi, has anyone had any experience using the Angel type womans frafrance oils, i got a small sample here in the U.K and it smelt exactly like the real perfume and proved to be a good seller too. But because supplies are so much more expensive here, i decided to order it in a larger quantity from a US supplier. So i ordered a 1 pound bottle from the thecandlemakersstore.com, i made a batch of candles with it and it does not smell anything like angel type i used previously or even anything like the original perfume. I conntacted the supplier and they said there was no possibility it could have been mixed up, i thought they could have sent angel wings by mistake? So i am now stuck with a whole 1 lb that i am not convinced is even angel type. Has any one ever ordered fragrance oils from the candle makers store before, especially angel type womans, if so how did you find it? Can any one reccomend a supplier which stocks Angel type Womans that smells very like the original perfume? Thanks so much sorry for the long post :) :highfive:
  3. Hi, is there a model number or anything for these presto pots, i bet walmart have so many of this type of thing i dont want to end up getting the wrong one. Also are they very heavy? As i am from the UK but going on holiday to Florida in the summer and am planning on bringing one of these home with me if i can as i am sick of using a double boiler and one of these sounds so much easier. It just a matter of how heavy and how big it is, if it not very big? i could get away with brigging it home as hand luggage, If not and i have to check it in as hold luggage, would they easily break in the hold of the plane or are they fairly robust? Thankyou
  4. Hi i've got someone interested in a bulk order for a wedding She wants chocolate scented pillar candles- she didnt say what type of fnish she wanted, i havent got any photos as i havent made pillars for a while so i was going to send her some descriptions of the different finishes she could have, e.g chunk, plain, rustic etc. But then i though how do i describe a rustic pillar to some one who hasnt got a clue about candles, all the terms i was going to use were candlers terms? Any ideas? Also do you think that for a wedding (she wants them for her wedding breakfast as table centre pieces), that hersheys chocolate fragrance would be the best one to use? Thank very much
  5. i pay £30.00 for a 20kg of salsol parrafin wax, i think that is about $70 USA Dollars. Which i could get wax as cheap as you guys. I am from England and everything costs a lot more here as well as hardly having any choice at all.
  6. bumping this post up to see if it will help get any responses for the above question
  7. hi, i've just got a banana split mold too. But now i cant find a container to make them in. I am from England and i just can't find a banana split boat anywhere here. Do you have to make them in these glass/ ceramic boats? Can anyone think of an alternative, as it would be a shame not to use the mold now that i have got it. Thanks very much
  8. Hi, They are pink cupcake candles. Pink bottom part and pink whipped wax on top, there will then be a few hundreds and thousands (sugar strand things) on the top. So if they are all the same colour will they be O.K. She must be a super organised bride, she is REALLY keen to get them straight away, she also said she is getting her dress made at the moment and her wedding isnt even until December 2007!!
  9. Hi, i have had interest from a customer about making a bulk order of cupcake candles for her wedding. The wedding is not untill December 2007. She wants to know if she orders them now and stores them until her wedding, would they loose their scent by then? Each candle would be idividually packaged in a cellophane bag and then they would all be put in a cardboard box. If she stored them in the correct conditions would they be O.K. I live in England she they would not be exposed to extremes of temperatures. I really do not know what to tell her, but it would be best for both of us if we could make the transaction now, but i don't want her to buy them now if they will be useless by 2007? Any advice would be much appreciated, thankyou very much
  10. hi, the customer has decided she wants the cupcakes that i do not need a mold for so that is easier for me. We agreed on a price with discount. But then she told me he wedding isnt until december 2007. She wants to place the order now on the price we agreed. But by that time mightnt the price for wax and scent have gone up so i could actually not make a profit at all? She did hint that she might prefer to get them straight away and store them until then, but wants to know if they would loose their scent storing the all that time? I will wrap each cupcake individually in a cellophane bag and then they will be all put in one cardboard box, i am from England so we do not have any hot weather to harm them, so would they be O.K?
  11. hi, thanks for the advice both types cupcakes are priced the same, its just that if she choses the cupcakes that i make using the mold, it would be so so time comsuming having to make 40, so don't know whether to give a discount or maybe less of a discount if she chooses these.
  12. hi, a customer contaced me wanting around 40 candles to give out as favours to her wedding guest. She wants to know if i offer discount for a bulk orders. But i have no idea what sort of discount is reasonable, i have only been making candles a few months and have never had a bulk order before, what kind of discount would you guys offer? She wants cupcake/muffin candles, i make two kinds ones using a mold and ones i make by hand, she hasn't said which type she would like yet, but if she wants the ones that i have to make using a mold it would be extremley time comsuming as i have only one of these molds, where as the cupcakes i make by hand i could do all in one batch, so would my discount differ according to how easy they are to make? Thankyou very much, think this forum is the best:)
  13. hi, we are going to be in orlando for two weeks so could get some shipped while we are there, we are staying in a villa but its just that we would not know what day the parcel would arrive and so stay in, but maybe they could leave it out side somewhere, so does anyone reccomend any good web based suppliers i could order grubby molds from for this option. hi ajl, i would order from alan but he only does the metal sort of mold, but i do get my wax from him, he's a really nice guy. Thanks again.
  14. ok, thanks looks like i will have to forget that idea then, i think georgia is a bit to far to go especially since we dont know the area. Thankyou any way. There was one store i found on the web that had lots of stores in orlando it was called micheals or something like that, anyone know if it is any good for candle making supplies. Thanks again, victoria
  15. hi, i am from the U.K. and there are not as much choice over here in candle making supplies as you guys have. I am going on holiday to the U.S in the summer and thought i would stock up on candle making supplies while i am there, so does anyone know of any good candle making suppliers in the Orlando, Florida area, i am especially looking for candle making molds such as the grubby muffin, pie slices, cookies, donuts etc, as well as some liquid dyes as they seem sooo much cheaper in the USA. Thankyou in advance :)
  16. hi, i'm from the U.K and looking to get some jars for my candles, does anyone know of anywhere in the u.k that sells them, or even a U.S base website that has reasonable shipping? they seem to cost so much over here so much so that it hardly seems worth it, one price on a british website was £2.50 british pounds for 1 small jar!
  17. hi, What fragrance would everyone suggest for a pink breat cancer charity candle? I'm sure i saw a thread on this before but cant find it anywhere.
  18. Thanks very much for the reply and the links If you don't mind me asking do you find it is cheaper to get your supplies especially fragrance oils from american websites, as was just wondering once we have paid the increased shipping charges and then the customs charge on top of that if it is worth it?
  19. i saw a photo on a forum somewhere, it was a strawberry chunk candle, it had red chnks running through it and there were strawberry embrds around the top and sticking out the top of the pillar candle. Could anyone offer any advice, how do you get the strawberrys sticking out of the top of the mold? Thankyou i am new to candle making
  20. hi is there anyway of getting this affect without the mold, i live in the U.K and there are not many types of candle molds available, Thankyou
  21. hi, i've just started making candles and have found there are not as many suppliers in the u.k as there is in the Usa, nor is there the variety of products. Could anyone reccomend any websites in America that ship at a reasonable cost to the Uk, as some i looked at were going to charge about $100 just to ship some fragrance oils?
