  1. I loved this FO last fall---I did find it a bit tricky to wick in 6006. Had to wick up 2 sizes but it was worth the trial and error; fabulous scent
  2. Grapefruit and Mint from CS is fabulous!! I couldn't keep that in stock this summer.
  3. It's so funny that you are asking this as I just ordered this scent from Lone Star. I'm actually thinking of just calling it Bourbon Pumpkin. I usually name my candles with names that actually say what their fragrance is. I just looked up "drunken" in the online thesaurus---haha, how about "Pickled Pumpkin"
  4. Now the question of wicking on a blend with 6046/6006. I'm using CD's with 6006 and HTP with the 6046. Oh what a tangled web we weave.........:-)
  5. that's what's so odd; as part of this test I put a box over the darn thing so there's no draft at all. I think it's gremlins. I'll go try the fridge technique. Thanks--I'll let you know!!
  6. I never put my jars close together--in fact this particular jar was a single candle I poured for a FO/wick test.
  7. I have been making candles for about 5 years now and doing well in the wholesale market on a small but busy scale. I'm using the 9 oz straight sided amber jars and I have a love/hate relationship with these things. The small mouth opening can get tricky with pours (I stop my pour right before the neck gets smaller) but other than that they are my go to vessel. I'm using 6006 wax and CD wicks--all is good there. Here's my problem.........these stupid lines. It's just one line on each jar, not multiple. I know it's a "wet spot", more like a "wet line" and it drives me insane. I didn't used to get these and it's driving me crazy trying to remedy them. I know it's no big deal but when you go from not having them to well, having them, it makes one a bit nutso. I am pouring at about 155 degrees and then I wrap each jar in a little felt cocoon-like I always have. Any idea why these are appearing and how I can get them to stop?
  8. I wonder what would happen if I mixed 50/50 of the 6046 and 6006. Hmmmmmm......
  9. oh for heaven's sake----that's crazy! And a little scary. I guess you would call that a "fist torch".
  10. I have to make a correction to this post as I misspoke. I meant to reference the HTP wick, not the CD wick. . In my large 13 oz jar I'm only using a HTP62 as this wax does burn great with a smaller wick; the melt pool is perfect. This jar would require a much larger wick with my usual IGI 6006; in fact I accidentally test wicked a large candle that I thought was 6046 with an HTP 62 (it was actually 6006 wax) and the candle just laughed at me. I'm not going to abandon this wax......
  11. I'm not getting any sooting or bad mushrooming in the 6046 with the CD wick. I completely agree with the hot throw. I wasn't sure if it was the FO or the wax as I was testing a new scent. Dang. I love this wax. Easy to melt and pour and the glass adhesion is to die for; no wet spots whatsoever. I'm going to keep trying. I think the heavy FO's will be fine.
  12. have you tried smaller than the HTP 62? I guess I should ask firstly what size vessel you are using? I love the 6046. I'm using an HTP 62 in a 13 oz, 3 1/4" jar and it's perfect. Please provide more info and a pic of your container
  13. Oh yes, the FO stash.........a blessing and a curse. I honestly have just stopped getting on the sites to just "see what's new". I found that when I have a gazillion scents to pick from I end up feeling a bit stressed out, if that makes sense. I do love the thrill of seeing the box sitting on my doorstep (actually in TX you have to set alerts for when FO's are delivered by the carriers or they'll bake in the sun) and opening each glorious little sample bottle. Then I just have to put them on the FO shelf and determine which one to try first. I've gone through my FO's and gotten rid of scents that are old or stinky and when I get new scents in, I immediately determine if they're a keeper or not. No sense in storing scents you'll never use. Long story short.......stay off of your computer
  14. I love Cuban Tobacco (RE) and Tobacco and Caramel (FC)--these are my 2 best sellers to both men and women.
  15. I use Ky tart wax from RE. Super easy to use and works great. I retail these for $5 each and have no problem selling them. I recently discovered the round tart clamshells and will give those a whirl. Always have to be trying something new!
  16. Thanks everyone for the great suggestions!! I think I'll combine the scent ideas with naming each after an area in Texas i.e. Texas Hill Country, Piney Woods, Gulf Coast and specific cities as well. I appreciate all of the input!!!
  17. Thank you for the wonderful suggestions!! We Texans love anything that is Texas themed!! Maybe a Hook 'Em Horns scent would be good too!! I did see the Bluebonnet FO at Lonestar but was a bit leery when a review said it smelled like an "old lady perfume". Whatever that means........ Thanks again ladies!!
  18. I've had a request from one of my stores to make some Texas themed candles. Hmmmmm.....I asked her specifically what she was looking for and she said I could just come up with them myself. This is always a challenge as everyone's interpretation of these things is different. I'm thinking that a leather/bourbon would be excellent (I like the RE leather and FC Kentucky Bourbon). Any suggestions for a good bluebonnet FO? Or mountain laurel? Any other Texas scents you can recommend?
  19. I blend FC Pipe Tobacco with FC Kentucky Bourbon---fabulous
  20. thank you so much for your recommendation but I just checked their site and they no longer carry that FO
  21. I just got a request to make wax melts for a baby shower with a Derby theme--naturally they want a FO I don't have . Can anyone recommend a great Mint Julep FO that you've either used in a candle or a melt?
  22. Tobacco and Caramel from Flaming for me also--It's my #1 seller hands down. Men and women love it
  23. I use the Ky parasoy from Rustic Esentuals---easy to use
