  1. For 8 oz. sq. mason, CDN14 is my starting size and one I use a lot, also HTP105, a few heavy FO's a CDN16 Or 18. This wax likes to play catch up once the flame drops down in the jar so be careful not to over wick for the first few burns. I also pour hot and cool in a Styrofoam box with the lid on overnight. If you do a search for GL 70/30 you will get a lot of information about this wax, it is the same wax as TN 70/30 and I have used it since it came out. A lot of my old post has some wick sizes in them and FO's I use and sell that have excellent HT. For the JJ, I would start with a CD10, HTP 93 or LX 18. For the 16 oz. apothecary I use 2 LX 14's a lot for lighter FO's. I am burning a Satsuma (AH/RE) candle I made 4 years ago with this wax right now and it is just as strong as when I made it and is burning beautifully. Again this wax has its own way of burning and I always have some hang up in the corners till about 1/2 way down the jar, but it cleans up nicely after that. I agree with Steve that this is a great wax
  2. The wax is TN 70/30 (70% soy & 30% paraffin) and is a great wax to work with. I have used it since it first came out about 5 years ago and love it. Colors great with no frosting and excellent HT, I use 8% FO pp wax. Tennessee Candle Supply is the only supplier that I know of that carries it.
  3. Satsuma is awesome in TN 70/30. I also use Monkey Farts, Vanilla Crunch, Forget Me Not, and Hungarian Lilac in 70/30. All from AH/RE
  4. I love this wax also, started with GL when it first came out and call it my "good" wax. I also use C3 for my soy only line but the 70/30 is my favorite and I have tested every combo I could come up with to compare with it but no luck. I don't think there are a lot of us left that still use it so am getting worried that if TN every drops it we may not be able to get it anymore. Maybe Brad could chime in and let us know.
  5. Thanks for the review, will have to give it a try.
  6. OK, the single melt I put in the Jackel warmer last night is done. Can't even smell it standing over the warmer. I have been gone all morning and checked it when I got back so no chance I just got use to the scent (again this is in the bedroom with the door closed). I don't know how they came up with 80 hours per melt when mine didn't even last 15!!! And this was on a low wattage warmer! I put 2 melts in the halogen warmer before I left and again medium almost light hot throw (gone about 2 hours). Mine are blow your doors off strong in this warmer, the first 5 hours 2 melts will scent the whole house easily (KY tart wax and tarts made with leftover C3). Can only smell these in the kitchen where the warmer is. Will see how long they last. So needless to say something is very wrong with what this company is saying about these melts. I don't know how they tested or what level of scent throw is "acceptable" to fall into this 80 hours but they need to go back and try again. I get 20 hours of scent time with 2 of my melts on the Jackel warmer so I will test theirs with 2 melts to see what I get. But won't change the fact that they claim you get 80 hours of scent time with ONE..... So are these 1,000 total hours of scent time hidden in the box somewhere (lol)? I guess I need to call for directions on how to use them.... Must be my warmers, maybe can only get all those hours with one of theirs....
  7. OK, finally got my melts today that were suppose to be here Saturday... They are in a clamshell type tray that slides into a box. Wt. is 4.8 oz. and the price was $7.25 plus shipping. The scent is "Island Nectar". Cold throw is OK but I thought it would be stronger for a bar that is suppose to last 1,000 hours. I put one cube into my Jackel warmer (14 watt) in the bedroom 45 minutes ago and closed the door (it is a large room). I went to check on it and it's definitely not an in your face throw like I am use to but I can smell it. I leave this warmer on 24/7 so I will see how long it last. If I were testing this FO myself, I would consider it a medium H/T. I don't think there is any way it will last for 80 hours but will give it a try. I will try one in my light warmer tomorrow and see how it does. It has a halogen bulb that does burn the FO off too fast with mine (KY tart wax) but is super strong and scents the whole house using 2 cubes. Curious to see how these do and how long they last. I also have a warmer with a regular 25 watt bulb from Levines so will see how they do with that one also. That is the type Partylite is selling so I'll see if these "super" melts stand up to there claims.
  8. Mine will be here tomorrow. Can't wait to test these. I don't think they will last that long either but will find out and let everyone know how they do.
  9. I ordered a tray of these melts from ebay, should be here Friday or Saturday. I will post my test results along the way. I will be testing them on a 14 watt Jackel Warmer and the Illumination Fragrance Warmer from Candle Warmers (it uses a a 25 watt halogen bulb).
  10. Someone has these on ebay and also say each melt will scent for 80 hours and that you get over 1,000 hours of scent time per tray of 12 melts... I am going to get a tray and test for myself...no way I can compete with that if it is true. Just want to see how strong they are for that amount of time.
  11. I use a CD 10 in the square mason with 464 wax w/CO on all FO's I have tested so far. Has worked great.
  12. I'm using KY with 25% 464, 1.5 oz FO pp and get about 20 hours of scent time per 2 clamshell cubes on the 14 watt Jackel warmers (which sold well for me at a show this weekend). I used 2 cubes of KY's Apple Pie at work yesterday for 10 hours and have had it going in the bedroom since 8 this morning. It is 4 pm here now and it is still throwing well. The bedroom is large and my 2 senior cats live there and let me and DH share it with them. So I am happy with the scent throw time I am getting. FYI- Chestnuts & Brown Sugar from JS is killer strong in KY Tart wax.
  13. Hi Trappeur, Getting ready to order the Vanilla Voodoo and wanted to know if any other strong throwers from there while I am ordering (for C3 wax). Also placing an order with BCN for the Sweet Potato Pecan Pie I read your review on, any other ones from there I should try? Thanks for posting your reviews, wanting to add some new fragrances to my line and they help a lot. Carmel Nut Cluster (sells great this time of year) and Green Apple from ICS (both were Snowtops) are also strong throwers in C3.
  14. Hi Naomi, I used 1.25 oz. FO PP of wax and no color. I use C3 and TN 70/30 for my main waxes, but did do some testing with the 464 just to compare. Great burns in the square mason with the 464 and CD10's. Debbie
  15. For the 8 oz. square mason, try a CD10 with the 464 wax. I have only tested about 15 scents but all have done great in this jar with the CD10 including Pumpkin Soufflé from CS...super throw!
  16. Just wanted to add that you still need to do your own test burns to see how they burn for you. I have tested about 15 scents from CS and a few from TCS and they have all done well with the CD10 in this jar.
  17. CD 10 works great in the 8 oz. square mason jar with 464 wax.
  18. Hi, Just started testing this blend myself and a CDN8 is doing well in the square mason jar (I normally use a CDN14 or HTP105 with the C3 alone). So you will definitely need to wick down several sizes. I have only tested 2 FO's so far but I am very pleased with this combination,, no frost, great hot throw and very nice burn. I normally use just C3 (no color) for my soy only line and TN 70/30 for my line that I do color. Just playing with this blend to see how it goes.
  19. The best I have found is Hungarian Lilac at AH/RE throws great in TN 70/30. I have a coworker who wanted a Lilac that smelled like the lilac bush her mother had.....she smelled this one and said "stop looking this is it". Was at a large 3 day trade show 2 weeks ago and sold out of this one in candles, lotion and soap (MP). Have not tested it in CP.
  20. Just read this on FBD site, hope everything works out OK, love the OMH and Green Irish Tweed from FBD. Best of luck and hope to see you open again soon.. Thanks for the great service I have always gotten from you!! Due to a very urgent emergency, Fragrances By Design has no option but to temporarily close. When things have settled down, I will re-open. Although I must close down for a bit, I will continue to do pre-buys on all the Jo-Malone fragrance oils. All fragrance oils have been reduced and are sold by the pound unless otherwise noted. All other products have also been reduced. FINAL DAYS. Tuesday, September 2 at midnight, Fragrances By Design will be closed until further notice.
  21. Just went to place an order for some FO's from the "Bean" and it is for sale. So we lose another one..... Great customer service and some GREAT FO's. Strawberry Shortcake and their Rose are the bes t:drool: Really hope another supplier buys them out. Gonna Miss you Bean Thank You for the years of Great Service I have received from you.
  22. Another vote for Hungarian Lilac from A/H throws great in GL 70/30
  23. Hi Trappeur, Another animal lover here: 2 horses, 6 cats, German Shepherd, Green Wing Macaw, 4 aquariums and a 3500 gallon Koi pond in front of my barn. I use C3 and also a 70/30 blend. Just wanted to say thanks for your reviews on the fragrances that do well in C3. With the cost of wax being so high, it helps when trying new scents to have an idea of ones that others have had success with in the same wax you are using when testing. I use square mason jars and use a CDN 14 or an HTP 105 with heavier FO's. If you are going to test in the regular Jelly Jars, may want to start with something smaller. I don't use these so not sure where you should start, maybe HTP 104 or HTP 93. HTP 105 is the largest I have had to use in the square mason so far and it is larger than a Jelly Jar. Thanks Again,
  24. I also live with a parrot (Green Wing Macaw) and make and sale soy blend (70% soy and 30% paraffin) and also soy candles. I have had him 17 years and he lives in a house where candles are burned all day long and I make them in my kitchen (he is in another room when I am pouring) but I do bring him into rooms where candles are burning. These are all scented candles. His cage is in a separate bedroom that I don't burn candles in but he is out in the rest of the house on his play-stand during the day. Never been sick or even had a cold. Maybe I have just been lucky for the past 17 years but candles have yet to cause him any problems. Did just lose my white dove , I had him for 32 years (doves natural life span is about 9-11 years). Also always around burning scented candles. I work for my vet and he didn't think it was possible for a dove to live that long. Maybe if I hadn't had him around all those candles he would have lived to be 50.
  25. Hi, In side by side burns in square mason jars when I was testing 464 (just to compare to C3) a CD 10 burned a little hotter than a CDN 10. I normally use CDN's but just thought I would see for myself if there was a difference. CD wicks came from TCS CDN wicks from Scented Bean
