1. Trust me, these will be labeled with DO NOT EAT, NOT A FOOD ITEM etc. My little girl is still not convinced they are not food but she has not tried to eat yet, I think because I put one in the bath with her and it kind of clicked with her this is a bath item. She is only 2.
2. HEHE...We are testing them right not, we have already tested 2 tonight, I am waiting for the Pink Frosting FO to come in, I think I will like it much better in the bombs than the FO I used. I will PM you...
3. Ok, I just want to thank everyone lately for posting different ideas for the cupcake bathbombs because I have been trying to figure out icing for them since last year. I made the icing with the powdered egg whites, powdered sugar and water, added Buttercream FO, on the last few I add some Pink mica I had and made pink icing. The bathbombs themselves are scented in chocolate and colored with a little cocoa powder. I have containers I buy from a container source to package my 4 pack sof regular bathbombs (they are muffin/cupcake containers) so I am going to order the single ones for these. I need a little work with the icing, I used my pampered chef icing gadget but am getting some wilton bags. In my new store I have a complete Cupcake display going up, in addition to the bathbombs I have FBB sugar scrub, 8 ml. dry oil sprays, bath/shower/bubble gel all in Pink Frosting and Buttercream Lip Balm. I also have the cutest cupcake trinket boxes that look as real as these bathbombs. I have been obsessed over cupcake looking things lately, can you tell? LOL Anyway, thanks for looking! 4. Those remind me of "Chucky" for some reason, and the website is so weird. like nothing goes together...oh well, another thing in life I do not understand LOL
5. I make a revised version of the Bohunk, I melt my butters. ewax and stearic, put in mixing bowl, then add soft oils, whip them up to a whipped cream consistency (this can take a while) add preservative, FO and then add the sugar while whipping on slow speed. I also use more sugar than the original recipe called for. It does change consistency after a day or two, so you may want to wait before packaging to make sure it is right for what you want. HTH Elle
6. My body frosting I make is a very thick emulsified cream, it feels very smooth going on, soaks right in kind of like lotion but with more firmness, mine is made with all natural ingredients with the exception of the preservative of course. I whip it and it does look kind of like frosting when you are making it, if you tip the mixer bowl over it would be very slow to come out. My butter is just shea butter whipped with either EO or FO added. This would definitely need a spoon to get out of mixing bowl. Now, this is just my way of doing it and the names I have given them, I am sure there are many variations from person to person HTH Elle
7. Nice save, sounds absolutely yummo! Now what are you going to call the new creation?
8. I actually got on a candymaking site that has a place close to me, I am going to go check out their flavor oils, as least half of what I saw looks to be oil base. I will check out the other place mentioned above...
9. Thanks for all the replies, I have used hte Orange and Lime EO for flavors, but I want to do chocolate and like raspberry or Chocolate and Almond, here is one place that does it but I cannot for the life of me figure out what kind of extracts they could be using http://www.ganacheforlips.com/ I was given some of theirs lately and they do taste yummy, they use no flavor oils just extracts etc. Thanks
10. I would like to add a completely all natural but flavorful line to my lip balm selections, at the current time I have the Healing which has EO and the Chocolate Mint which has real chocolate and Peppermint EO, and those are all natural but I want to use some extracts to add more variety. Any suggestions? I have only seen water based extracts so far and as you know that will not work at all TIA Elle
11. Lotion bars hold up well in heat, but cannot be in direct sunlight or they will melt, I always let my customers know that if they accidentally melt one then put it in the fridge and it will solidify. Isn't the heat gun great? I use it to top off my lip balms. I have never tried soy, but you could play around with it omitting maybe the beeswax. People love them in tins, I use regular size muffin tins as molds, then package in 2 oz. tins, they are a little over an ounce in weight but last forever. A great selling point is how long they last versus traditional lotion, which means you can charge more A) Because they are unique the longevity of the end product Elle
12. I could not edit the first post, probably a way but I have not posted much lately so can't remember how. Here is the soap cut, not cleaned up. For those using slab molds, how do you usually cut yours, how big of bars, should I have hubby put slits on sides for cutting? That is what he did on the loaf molds. Also, how do you make sure your soap is level? It is hard to gauge in this big of mold. He is going to build another but I think I am going to have him make it a tad shorter so my bars are a little thicker. I used the calculations for mold size but think the soap is thinner than I want Anyways, thanks for looking!
13. I used to say never add any liquid but oils to your mixture but now I swear by Witch Hazel and my bombs are rock hard. I use a mixture of shea, cocoa and SAO also. You could try your recipe and add a little WH to start off with and go from there, thats what I did and now I swear by my recipe and have them down to a definite technique and can whip them out in no time and they are consistent unless I screw up an ingredient... When you are taking the bombs out of the mold make sure you are not just pulling the mold apart, kind of squeeze your mold until it starts to fall out. Also, wanted to say I am getting quite a following with the bath bombs so the hard work paid off! YEAH:yay: HTH Elle
14. Ok, I have been making soap for 4 years and never had a slab mold, I have always used a 3 loaf mold, I have been dying to try one so Hubby made me one. A big sucker a that, it holds 12 LBS. so now I can make double batches. The soap end of my business has been picking up and I find I am out of soap sometimes as soon as it cures and it is not even big time show season for me yet. He also made me a six loaf mold so I can make double of both. This is Coconut Lime, one I always make but a new look for the bar. Colored with Aqua and swirled w/plain soap. Will post pic of cut soap tomorrow. showing off the mold I usually pour thick as to get a textured top Another close up
15. Love em...they look absolutely beautiful! My hubby just made a slab mold this week, I can't wait to try it out and make something other that a loaf soap. I have got to get me SS
16. I have actually had soap that turned the water colors and anything you set them on get better after a good long cure...maybe hold on to them and try them again in 4-6 wks:D
17. Yummo...can't you use that all over the body? Or is it to rough? Lemon Mint sounds like a very interesting combo...good job!
18. Very nive...I can't believe how smooth your rebatch looks! Mine always looks bumpy
19. They are so cute...you can get lots of cashola for pants like that, I buy Olivia boutique overalls and jeans that have been customized like that and pay an arm and leg, she has Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, everyday and many more. The Easter ones are my fav, they are so cute. You did a great job, she will get lots of compliments
20. Oh...yummy, they look beautiful, I bet they smell divine
21. I have a microwave and a single unit stove burner, I got it really cheap at the drug store, it is just one burner of a electric stove, plug in and you have instant kitchen, I use the microwave for lotion bar, balms etc, the burner for soap
22. I don't know if Michi uses this, but I color mine and top with the colored sugar you get to decorate cookies and cakes. If you go to a Cake Supply store you can get a multitude of colors. I love it because it colors the scrub and is easy to use. In one of my scrubs I use the colored jojoba spheres and they look awesome as well. Michi, you scrubs and everything look great, bet your customer was HAPPY!!! Elle
23. The soap fairy definitely visited here, what a mess. I made Rosemary Mint EO soap for a wholesale acct, well the crap is crumbly and won't get hard. this is the 2nd time this happened with the soap (once last year) I can't figure it out, I am attempting to make another batch right now. Please God let it work, pretty expensive EO blend for bombers LOL
24. I am prone to cold sores, I used to just suffer through them, last year I read about tea tree oil helping, now when I get the first tingle I get a Q-tip and put the tea tree on and have not had one in almost a year. I used to get them at least 1 x a month. The trick is getting the tea tree on at the first sign to keep it from erupting into a sore. Psoriasis is an immune disorder, not really a skin disease, although it manifests itself on the skin. There is not anything topical that will cure it, but some creams may alleviate the dryness or pain associated with it. Straight Emu Oil is great for psoriasis. Fragrance can irritate the skin that is affected so something unscented is good. As long as you look at it from the stand point that you are not trying to heal the skin but keep it hydrated then a lot of products help but every sufferer of psoriasis responds differently so I would be very careful in making something without a lot of research. You could always suggest your friend to apply Emu oil and may even be able to help them out by purchasing some from a supplier for their use. HTH Elle
25. You could drizzle colored wax or sprinkles etc for more texture, they are stinkin cute!!!!
