  1. Thanks for chiming in. I really like the Starry Eyes also, even though I didn't think I would. I was going to try Peak's French Vanilla Amber since there's a co-op going on right now, but now I don't know what to do! Different, but still good, huh? What to do, what to do....
  2. Does anyone know how Peak's French Vanilla Amber compares to Daystar's Starry Eyes? I have a sample here of Daystar's Starry Eyes, and I was just wondering if Peak's is similar or totally different. Anyone out there tried both? Thanks!! Susan
  3. I've also used the Goo Gone, and good old Comet works too.
  4. I ordered a couple bottles from them a few months ago, and if I remember correctly, they did not come in a dropper bottle. I knew that when I ordered them, but they are still sitting and have not been used or tried yet!
  5. I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this already or not (I scanned through the postings pretty quickly), but it looks like those jars are filled almost to the top. I would try pouring only to where the jar starts to narrow at the top. Not going to help your frosting issues, of course, but I have had some wicking nightmares when pouring a jar too full. I also found out that once I changed the brand of liquid dyes I was using, it helped with some of the frosting issues I was having (I don't use the same soy as you, but I do use soy). I'm still new and learning, though, so use the advice accordingly! The colors are very pretty! Good luck and have fun!
  6. Ok, so it's not just me. This girl doesn't have a clue what she's talking about! I'm not even sure how to respond back or if I should just let it go. Maybe I'll try calling them. This is a rather large and well-known and talked about supplier also. I just can't believe the responses!
  7. OK, I'm not trying to be a smart-as* here, but I have to ask this. If you asked a supplier what the MP was of a certain candle wax, what type of a response would you expect to receive back? Would you expect to receive a response that the wax has a MP of a specific temp, or would you expect a response of melt the wax to 200 degrees, add color, drop temp and add fragrance, and then pour at 150 degrees? I was expecting a response of "wax "ABC" has a MP of 125 degress." Or something along those lines. Am I totally not asking the question right or what? I went on to email the supplier back with examples from other websites of what I was looking for. For example, Just Scent's JS123 wax has a MP listed of 123-126 degrees. WSP' Ecosoya Advanced has a MP listed of 111, etc, etc. The response I got back from them: The MP of the wax is 200 degrees. What the H***?! Is it me or them??? Please help me!!
  8. I kind of like the tins with clear tops idea. Where'd you get the mold for those? they're cute.
  9. I make both the clamshells and the individual tarts, but I much prefer to make the clamshells. I just have a few friends who prefer the individual tarts, so that's why I still make them. If you use 100% soy, though, you're not going to be able to get the cubes out of the clamshell. I wasn't sure if you were planning to switch to a different type of wax for these or not....
  10. Very pretty, and I like the ribbon better also. Where did you purchase the tags? I know you mentioned that you printed the tags yourself, but where did you get the hang tag sheets from?
  11. Did you happen to read the thread about IKS' customer service issue before it got deleted? If I hadn't read most of it before it got deleted, I might have thought this was just someone looking for some ideas or advice. But after the other thread, I'm not sure why this one even got started. I think you better have a pretty darn good idea of what good customer service is before you start a business. And I ditto some of the other comments - how would you want to be treated?
  12. Thanks for the replies! I think I might email Stacy and see what she thinks. I'm definitely not smelling pineapple, but I'll mix it in wax and see what I get! Thanks again!!
  13. I just got my Daystar order, and I have a stupid question....I got a sample of the Better than Sex Cake, and to me, it doesn't smell "bakery" at all. It smells more "perfume-y". Maybe I've smelled to many FOs lately or something.... But have any of you ever ordered an FO and maybe what was on the label didn't match what was in the bottle? I am thinking maybe this one just got mis-poured/mis-labeled because it does not have a bakery smell to it. Can anyone jump in here and let me know if this is a truly knock your socks off sweet bakery smell, and there should be no question that it's Better than Sex Cake FO? Maybe once it's in wax it'll smell more like cake, but right now, I'm just not smelling it! I'm not sure what to think on this one....All you Daystar users, please help me out!! Thanks!!
  14. I think I've gotten a USPS notification before.
  15. It looks like the sale price is still on her website, so I'd say you'd be safe in ordering today and still get the $18 price. I'm sure she'll email you back soon, though, to let you know for sure
  16. No there's a good idea! If I buy a couple of these, I could probably heat my entire living room! Just think of the money I'll save this winter!
  17. Yes, it was trimmed, and that's what it looked like after about 15 minutes.
  18. I just had to take a picture and show everyone! I went to a craft show this weekend, and I'm shopping around and I come to a candle booth. The guy hands me this votive. The booth was very busy, and it seemed like they were doing well. Well, I decided today I'd burn the votive to see what it was like. I'm lucky I didn't burn my house down! This was only burning for like 15 minutes at the most! The picture doesn't do it justice. The flame is every bit of 3 inches high. I can't believe people sell stuff like this. I wouldn't even give away something like this, let alone sell it! What's your thoughts on what this votive looks like?
  19. I had some samples here of some laser labels, and when I tried printing on them with my HP, they smeared.
  20. I'd add Amish Harvest to that list. I love it!
  21. I've searched and searched and can't seem to find an answer, so I guess I'll look stupid and ask.... If I'm making a loaf candle and am going to put it in a tin loaf pan after I've taken it out of the mold, do I want to wick it so it melts completely to the edge? And if I'm going to put it instead on a tin plate (like you can get from Colonial Tin, etc), would I want to wick it so it leaves a small shell all around? Stupid, I know... And the same with like a grubby pillar - you want to leave a thin shell, right? One of my best friends loves the grubby pillars, and she's been patiently waiting for me to start making some of these.... Thanks for your help!! Susan
  22. Has anyone heard anything "through the grapevine" about if someone is going to buy her oils? I noticed she's out of stock on a lot of oils already. I used a few of Leah's FOs; it would be nice to think someone is going to buy them so they'd still be available....
