  1. Try the cosmetic glitter from www.candlesandsupplies.com; its also safe for candles. I use the iridescent on my candles and I love it! HTH, Linaya
  2. Ladysj, I have used that same container. One thing I recommend is not filling it to the top. Leave app. 1/2 inch from the top, and it will burn better (for some reason). I have actually gotten a complete melt pool with just two wicks when I leave some space at the top. I have done ALOT of testing with this container, so feel free to PM me with any questions! HTH, Linaya
  3. I use Mcsoy's Strawberry Jam; i LOVE it!
  4. I agree that Sage is an air-cleaning scent. I love the Blackberry Sage from Peaks!
  5. I dont know from experience if this would work, but I would recommend a good, strong Odor Eliminator FO. I have the one from C&S, and it has a maraschino cherry scent to it. Ive also heard that Mcsoy's Odor Eliminator is good. Some of my customers said the Odor Eliminator candles work wonders. I have good luck with them killing strong kitchen odors (such as garlic), wet-dog smell, and cigarette smoke. If ya want me to send you an ounce or two of the Odor Eliminator from C&S, PM me!
  6. What sells: Jamaica Me Crazy Lovespell Passionate Kisses Pomegranate Lavender My personal favorites are: Lilac (has to be a TRUE lilac!) Orchid Assorted coffee scents Rainwater Strawberry Jam
  7. I have a 10 month old daughter and have been experimenting with doing something similar. I found that using those blue mechanic "shop" towels work really well and they are a really soft farbic. I have used them to make handmade baby wipes and love them! I think they would probably work for the kind of thing you are talking about, but they would be disposable. I got a roll for $1 at Target. Keep us posted on what you figure out! Linaya Also, if any of you want the recipe for the handmade baby wipes (I also have made an adult version, PM me and be glad to give it to ya!)
  8. Thanks guys!!! Yeah, that frosting soap base is really pricey; you dont even want to know how much a**kissing i had to do to get my fiancee to buy it for me! I closed down my biz a few weeks ago, so everything i do now is just messing around.
  9. Yeah, somebody on here told me about it. I got it at www.oakcourtcreations.com
  10. Finally broke down and spent the $$$ to get the M&P frosting soap base. Boy, you have to work quickly with that stuff or it gets too hard! This is scented Coconut Cream Pie from JS, and weighs app. 8 oz. Thanks for looking! Linaya
  11. I love them! I always love the look of a 3-layer candle, but I cant stand to do them myself!!!
  12. I renamed it "Monkey Kisses". Because wouldnt a monkey's breath have that kind of fruity smell that the FO has?
  13. I use pure soy, and I learned that my candles look like that if i pour too fast. So, i pour SLOOOWLY now.
  14. Does anybody know what supplier carries this? I found a recipe in a M&P book and wanna try it. Ive tried doing searches for it, and havent been able to bring up a single thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA, Linaya
  15. Litsea and Basil does very well in my pure soy. If you add a tablespoon of any Vanilla FO to the Nishiki Grapefruit, it takes away the fuel smell. That grapefruit is really good for candles and B&B.
  16. Ok, i made a test candles in Peaks Tuscan Nights, and Peaks Breakfast at Tiffanys. One was burning in the upstairs bathroom with the door shut, the other in the downstairs bathroom with the door shut. After about 2 hours of burn-time, they began to smell suspiciously alike. The only difference i noticed between the two scents, is the Breakfast at Tiffany's had a slight maple scent. Anybody else notice a similarity or have i gone nuts? AGAIN!!!
  17. I think it all depends on the manufacturer of the candle. I personally make soy; but ive bought a TON of paraffin candles over the years. Certain paraffin companies DO smoke quite a bit, and some dont. Its also the same with soy. Ive had store-bought soy candles soot horribly, and some that are totally clean. For a comparison: I purchased a Yank**, and a Colonial at Home candle (both are paraffin) right after Christmas. The Yank** smoked terribly, and the Colonial didnt smoke at all. Ive also purchased a pure soy candle from the grocery store recently that had so much soot on the jar, you couldnt even see through the glass!! There is alot of controversary about soy vs. paraffin; and to me, it still all boils down as to what candle company has made it. Just because i make soy candles, doesnt mean i dont still purchase paraffin. There are a few high-end paraffin companies that i still purchase regularly, and dont have a soot problem. I dont claim my candles as being a "better" type of wax. I let the customer decide for themselves. I have a few die-hard Yank** and Gold Canyon customers that say they love my candles better because they are more highly scented, but sooting doesnt bother them, so they still supplement their candle stock with other brands. Sooting is just so common when you burn candles, most people dont realize how bad it can get.
  18. YUMMY!!! looks good enough to eat! VERRRRY NICE!
  19. That particular roll isnt wrapped individually; I just did it to see what it looks like. But future ones will be individually wrapped.
  20. Ok, I been experimenting with M&P soap lately. These are embedded with bath confetti. Scented, from left to right, Rain, Lilac, Coconut, and Blackberry. Im trying out new packaging ideas; what do you guys think of the Lifesaver Roll idea?
  21. www.brighterscents.com has an AMAZINGLY "true" pipe tobacco! and their prices are pretty good.
  22. Ive added Spiced Cranberry and Key Lime Pie to it and it smells alot better. But, if you add a bit of vanilla (like a tablespoon per ounce of FO), that will also help tone it down. Adding vanilla will also help get rid of the dreaded fuel smell in citrus FO's. HTH, Linaya
