  1. I like these! I'd like to have skinny lines all the way thru my soaps! All I get is blobs of color in spots...and usually not all the way thru! Gonna have to try the ITP swirl trick and see how that works.
  2. Funny Girl, Yes!! I was like you. Nervous! And I agree with using water on your first try. I haven't done the milk thing yet....but you want to see how it works before you use the milk IMO. Make sure your water/lye is cool. Don't add right after you mix, or your soap will trace tooo quick! You want to have time to work with your stuff. Once you get it done...you can breathe again!! It will be o.k., just take your time with what's happening...within reason. If using a stick blender...use for a couple of seconds and stir with it off.. keep doing this till you think it's at trace. You'll do fine!! :highfive:
  3. I think finding a soap making kit could be a start for your friend. Or you could buy her some Oils and Butters that are not in your local grocery store, for starters. Check out some Soap Supplier sites with recipes to see what is used most often. Then you'll have an idea of what you might want to buy. What a lucky friend ! FunnyGirl, Let us know how it works!! You can do it!! :highfive: And you'll be hooked for life!!
  4. If you do a "Search" you'll find several posts for recipes....HTH
  5. Thanks for the link! I just found a couple of oils and butters if I need in a pinch, within 15 miles of my home! I didn't pay attention to price, as I was just lookin' quick, but I put it in my favs for referal.
  6. :cry2: I'm so bummed for ya! The pic before the last would have been ok. What happened to all the pretty pink and gold?? Their has to be some true colors that you can use to make this work!! Looked like you were pullin' a Grumpy with all those purty colors!! I'd be happy with just two colors swirling nice. :undecided You just keep working on these colors for us to know what doesn't stay true. It still looks cool.
  7. Love the swirls! Had to put on the (shades) the colors are really bright!! LOL But I like!! Great work!
  8. Sayin' some major prayers for ya over here!! At least you have proof of the colors you were going for!! Sorry to hear your colors are fading. Still can't wait to see it cut!
  9. Oh I love the swirl colors! The turds aren't that bad... Can't wait to see it cut.
  10. Very fresh and clean looking! For me, I'd need some sort of lid. Something simple would be o.k., but something. Until time of sale maybe?
  11. Congrats!! It's a great feeling, huh? Now dig in and enjoy all the wonderful creations you'll be trying!
  12. I don't use Vegetable Waxes, but I don't smell fuel @ 1oz per lb. nor do I smell apples. I just smell cinnamon, cloves and such. Doesn't help you much. Just my:2cents: .
  13. Here's a recipe that was in the old CT Board: 6oz distilled water 2oz witch hazel 1oz skin safe fo This may be cloudy, so you might want to put in alum. bottle, but it will need instructions to shake before use. HTH
  14. That's pretty darn good! I won't mind giving something like that to my DD's music teacher!
  15. Way to go Geek!! I remember nights like that. You must still be sleepin' it off... They look very nice!
  16. Don't do it Nana!! :laugh2: I don't believe it was a spur of the moment theft. You'd ya had to really thonk that one thru and thru!
  17. LMAO @ Susan in TX! Me and DH just found it easier to use the dixie cups for votives. We would make wick holes after the votive was set. DH rigged up a drill press w/ knitting needle, and we would use that for making our wick holes and then push the wicks up thru. I haven't poured any votives in a couple of years! And I don't know where all my notes are at , but I will have to drag out some of the votives I have put away and burn just to see how long they burn. I'll have to do this later this week, as I have too much running around to do today!! Alot of times I would just pour any little extra wax in the dixie cups and make "weeks end" votives of different scents that got mixed together for .75 cents...and never had a problem with people buying them up just to sample the "blends"..lol
  18. Oh, I've got a big glass of cold milk, can I have a bite? LOL That looks eatible!! I thought I saw three different shades last night when I saw it in the mold. I love it!
  19. For my paraffin wax, I use 44-24-18z. hth
  20. It's not ugly, just different. Any ideas why it turned brown on the top side? And I can see the pink inside.
  21. I like the first picture.. but I LOVE the second one!! Looks like white, buttery & chocolate swirled on top!! Can't wait to see the cut pics of that one.
