  1. Dana, I have another question. I have some bags I bought years ago from papermart. They are heavier than cello bags and have a milky look. Are these polyethylene bags and can I use them for candles.
  2. Thanks, Dana. I was just at papermart. I saw the zipper bags. Will order some.
  3. I use cello bags to put my pillars and ball candles in for selling purposes. I need a way to package other candles I make when a customer makes a purchase at a swapmeet I am doing. I have tealights, votives, and tart melts. Can I use regular sandwich bags from the grocery store to put these in. I think I read somewhere that using these bags will suck the scent out. I can't depend on a customer taking them out of the bag when they get home.
  4. Did you use stearic acid or any other additives. I can't wait to get my wax and pour one candle with nothing in it. And cut it open to see if there are any air pockets without doing relief holes. Not having to poke relief holes will up the amount of candles I can pour in one day.
  5. Thank you so much. I have poured more candles than I thought I would, so I am going to go ahead and order a case. Any problem with the candle coming out of the mold? Did you have to poke relief holes?
  6. I use glue sticks. I pour 4630 wax in jars. I have never had a wick tab come loose.
  7. Would appreciate it if you would let me know how it does. I need to order some from someone in November.
  8. Has anyone ever used crytal brite pb palmwax from Swans Candles. If so, is is close to a feathering wax.
  9. I poke relief holes in pillars. I don't in tealights. Do I have to poke relief holes in votives.
  10. Thanks. I'll have my neighbor turn my second Presto Pot in a wax melter.
  11. Can you use the presto pot with the spigot attached to pour palm wax for pillars. Or will the spigot clog up because palm wax gets hard so fast. I'm tired of wax dripping on my table using the presto pot without a spigot. I have one with a spigot for my container blend and love it.
  12. Years ago, I bought some aromatherapy scents from Missy's candlemaking supplies. It is now Aztec. They no longer sell these scents. The two I am looking for are "Calming Waters" and "Restful". They also sold about 6 other aromatherapy scents. Does anyone know where I can buy these.
  13. Thanks Stella. I don't have a problem with my candles coming out of the molds. Just don't want them to fade out in the sunlight. Guess I can start pouring now.
  14. I just finished testing a wick for a 3 x 3 1/2" pillar using feather palm wax. I am getting a perfect burn. And no blowouts. I am going to be selling these candles at an outdoor swapmeet in Arizona. First, does adding steric acid help any. Also, because they will be outside in sunlight, even though they'll be inside a tent, should I add UV to the wax.
  15. Magnolia and Jasmine. Both of them are very strong overpowering scents. If I am pouring both of them at the same time, I get a headache. But I have a customer who loves them, so I deal with the smell and headaches.
  16. I think I'll just tell her I can't do them. I have enough on my plate without testing something new. Thanks for the info.
  17. A neighbor of mine asked me to make some candles with perfume oil or pure oil. Can these oils be used in candles for fragrance?
  18. Does anyone know where I can buy jars like the Walmart 20 oz. Mainstays jar candle.
  19. I use dye chips. i add pieces of blue chips to the black until I get the black I want.
  20. I just bought a lot of different color aluminum tea light cups from a lady off of ebay. My questions is: can I pour my wax straight into them and will they be strong enough to take the hot wax standing alone. Or will I have to put them into glass tea light cups to support them while I pour.
  21. I use 4630 container wax. I have no problems making a true black candle if I add a little blue to the black until it is as dark as I want. I use dye chips.
  22. I aquired a lot of 2 7/8" tall x 2" diameter jelly jars. Smooth sides. I use igi4630 wax and zinc wicks. I tried a 44-24-18 wick and the flame was nice but the melt pool was almost all the way to the bottom. I then tried a 34-40z wick. It burned okay for awhile. Then about 1/3 the way down the jar, the flame got so small you could barely see it burning. Any suggestions?
  23. Has anyone used the Feather Palm Wax from Candle Science. I've heard that some of the palm waxes are hard, if not impossible, to get out of the molds. cactusladycandles
  24. Thanks DebbieTx. I am working up an order from Lone Star right now. And I saw their leather description. So I'll go ahead and get it there.
