  1. Thanks for the help everyone - can't wait to get started. Just waiting for my oils to arrive and also ordered about 12 oils from Solas that I intend to use for this (all your fault, might I add!!!). Hopefully will be able to post pics soon! Katinka:grin2:
  2. Reading this forum has made me want to try CP soaping. So I used the lye calculator on soapcalc.com after reading several threads. My question is: can I round off grams to the closest gram when it gives me a fraction as long as it still adds up to the total batch weight? Example: Water 344.73 grams to 345 Lye 138.57 grams to 139 Thanks! Katinka
  3. Thanks - now just hold thumbs they will ship to me - already making a shopping list!
  4. Sale, what sale? Btw, do you know if they ship internationally? All the talk has made me want to try some!
  5. Just got home from work and my whole house is smelling (and I have a big house) from the cold throw of six wax melts I poured 3 days ago - her Pink Sugar rocks!!!! (used parasoy at 1oz pp). I would definitely recommend her and her oils - especially the Pink Sugar (needless to say I just ordered a pound of it)! HTH Katinka
  6. I am a beauty therapist and we often have to do mobile treatments in funny places. I would take a hot water flask and a cold water container, and a two bowls for rinsing. You place the two bowls on top of each other (the top one has to be a bit bigger than the bottom) and place your water in the top one. When the customer has finished rinsing, you just twist the top bowl so that it empties in the bottom one, so the bottom bowl collects all the dirty water. You can do quite a few of these if you use the right sizes bowls before having to empty them. Not point in doing a nice treatment like a dip it the hands isn't going to be clean, IMO. Hope it makes sense. Katinka
  7. I poured ICS Buttercream Frosting about 2 days ago in Parasoy, no discolouration and already a nice throw at 1oz. I know she has a Cinnamon Buns that is very popular and I am almost sure she also has the other oil you are looking for. HTH Katinka:grin2:
  8. Chances are that she would add it anyway, might just not be something you like or would want, like I could Cinnamon Buns (so not my type of fragrance, but not complaining - it was afterall free). I poured her Pink Sugar last night, 70/30 parasoy and already the cold throw is awesome and that is just a couple of melts sitting on a cupboard.
  9. Thanks everyone - I have found exactly what I am looking for!!! Katinka
  10. You think that is bad - we don't even have a candle association in South Africa!!!:rolleyes2 Katinka
  11. Don't know to much about the detail, but I do know it is a very user friendly accounting programme for non-accountant types. The only thing that is a bit of a problem in a business environment where you have people invoicing for you is that you can delete and edit invoices easily without having to pass a debit or credit or journal like you have to with accounting packages like Pastel etc. This is a problem from a fraud point of view, but if you are the only one using it - I would say at least try a demo or trial version and see. HTH, Katinka:grin2:
  12. 15ml is 0.5oz, 30ml = 1 fluid oz and 28g = 1 oz. HTH!
  13. Hi and welcome to the board. This is exactly what I did using software I have on my pc, but unfortunately the jpeg ends up being bigger than what the board limit allows. Hence, photobucket. Katinka:grin2:
  14. Hi Erin, The best I could do for now is to upload it with this link: http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/katinkab/WickComparisonChart.jpg Not sure if it will work. I will try and email the pic to your email, maybe you can chat to the moderators to put it on as a sticky? HTH Katinka
  15. Okay, so it is wellknown that I don't have much of a personality( ) and I am thinking of doing a farmers market twice a month. I mostly sell my candles to spa's at the moment (lots of candle, minimal packaging), so I have to rethink my look for the market. Any ideas on where I can find graphics somewhere between prim and not prim? Odd question I know, but any help would be appreciated!!! Katinka:grin2:
  16. Email it to me (aromacandle@telkomsa.net) and I will see what I can do - married to an IT geek, he might as well be useful:rolleyes2 !!! Katinka:grin2:
  17. Not bad at all for a first try!! The flame is a bit big, so as Top suggested you might want to wick down a bit. This will not only decrease the size of the flame (and your candle won't look like a flamethrower:p) but it will also take care of the smoking. Also just an FYI, if you want help on the board you would generally do well to mention what wick and wax you use, pouring temps, amount of FO etc. Keep going - for me there was very few things so special as the first candle I made!!! Katinka:grin2:
  18. Thank you all - some really excellent suggestions I would NEVER have come up with!!!
  19. Okay, so I know some hate this and some love this and I kinda like it:grin2: , so I would really appreciate any help on renaming it, and no "nauseating" won't do...
  20. Looking forward to some replies too! The way I have figured fragrance is a very personal thing and although I would like to do only things I like, from a business point of view I don't think that is practical so I have tried to split it across all the various "categories", i.e. fruit, bakery, floral, clean, spicy etc. Having said that, for me personally I lean more toward the florals, fruity combos and then Vanilla (I am a bit of a Vanilla freak!!!). Don't know if this is helpful??? Katinka:grin2:
  21. Jeez, I go to the bush to relax for two days and look at this thread! Sorry Ian, did not want it to appear like I am ignoring you. Companies I use is Indiana Candle Supplies - she has some nice oils for reasonable prices. Just Scent is still my all time favourite - I will pm you Becky's direct email - very strange that you have had no reply!! Peaks ship, Bittercreek South ships, Candlescience used to (my favourite for molds and wick) but now they don't anymore. Candlewic does international - they just sometimes take a bit longer because they only do USPS once a week but are a good alternative for molds etc. Cierra Candles also does international - I tried them for the first time last week and if they are good I will also start ordering from them. Unfortunately Natures Garden does not ship to me - I salivated over their oils when I started out and was really dissapointed when they said no... You have had some luck there. BTW, all of these ship USPS. HTH! Katinka:grin2:
  22. Try Janet at Creative, http://www.creativegemsmolds.com/. She is also a member of this board! HTH
