  1. Just an update, got my order right on time. The Whispering Angels as far as oob smells exactly the same. I'm gonna try putting it in wax over the weekend. I ordered another angel one but can't remember the name and it smells like WA but lighter.
  2. There was a previous post about this but was unable to find it thru search. Mr. Missy's is the ex husband of the married couple that owned the original Missy's which was loved by many. He then opened Cape Coral Candles and sold (to mine and quite a few others opinions) very inferior fragrance oils....and shut his doors soon after opening. He's now opened yet another FO and wants to capitalize on the previous company with the great reputation. I for one aren't buying it. I've heard from people that worked with him that he's not the nicest of people but since it didn't actually happen to me I won't repeat it. I for one won't give that man a dime....just because of the money I wasted when he had Cape Coral and the way he treated me when I called to ? the quality of the oils then. I don't think he's changed.
  3. I changed from J223(started getting horrible horrible sink holes) to JustScent's 5050 and love it. No wet spots, totally one pour, great scent throw, easy to wick, makes a pretty creamy looking candle that colors well.
  4. Hay, dude, those are like truly radically groovy! The colors are like, man, wow & outta site like a perfect sunset, man! Puts me in the mood to make some brownies, man! Ah those were the days............ from an ex hippie's point of view I have to say those are truly beautiful pieces of your artistry. I can see those sitting on a pretty glass shelf in one of those nice gift shops. Great work.
  5. Nothing makes a holiday complete like beautifully swirled soap!!!!!
  6. You might have to either pour the wax cooler before you stir in the blueberries or.... pour 1/3 of muffin part ....let cool for a minute and place a few blueberries...let that cool a little then pour some more and place a few blueberries etc. At first I was thinking of coating the blueberries with cornstarch or flour but that's how you stop them from sinking in real food!!!
  7. I thought I asked this question already? Where is this description from????? I bit the bullet...worked out the cart issue and ordered a pound. the order has gone into the processing stage. I still have an ounce or so to compare it to. I hope this hasn't changed. This was the fragrance I used for my Komen breast cancer donations a few years back and wanted to do it again this year. If the formulan hasn't changed I'll order 25# so I don't have to worry for a while.
  8. Has anyone found a FO that is similar to Whispering Angels from Tradewinds? I absolutely love this oil and I've had trouble trying to order from Tradewinds and they won't answer e-mails. I've read a few months back that some people thought they had changed it.
  9. One day I had run out of goo gone while making red votives. Afterwards, I had to run to the bank.. I cleaned up best I could but when I handed over my deposit the teller said "Oh my gosh, what happened" and ran to get a tissue..I told her it wasn't blood just candle dye and stuck my finger in my mouth to show her !!!! All the tellers got a good laugh on that one.
  10. I use the JustScent 50/50 soy/paraffin blend wax. Becky has one blend for votives/pillars/tarts and another for containers. I use them both. The votives come out so creamy looking...easy to clean, wick and they have a great scent throw. I stopped using dyes except for a large wedding or shower order cause it was just a pain to work with (the bottles leak, spill...not exact right color for a customer's decor, or customers want you to remember what they bought 3 months ago by the color) so all my candles are all "natural" color.
  11. SD is right about the pin holes. I used to use 4794 and poured at 175° and got them and when I changed to 50/50 wax I stopped getting them. But I also realized I changed something else....with the 4794 I would hit the molds with the heat gun before I poured so I didn't get chatter lines..never got those with the 5050 so stopped using the gun. Evidently it was all a heat issue. I have a thermostat on my melter and I use an instant read meat thermometer. I also used liquid dye. Easier to make a "formula" and get that exact color again. But....keep a bottle of goo gone or de-solv-it (both can be found at Wal Mart in the cleaning section or paint dept.) handy...will get dye out from your cuticles, carpet etc and it's non toxic! You'll be buying it by the gallon in no time. Good luck and welcome to the addiction.
  12. It's not just you...I can't see it either.
  13. Do you think I would lose very much of the fragrance? It would depend on just how much you have to heat up the wax. Good luck.
  14. I'm assuming these are just for you to test with since you said they're your first few candles.....on that said being said I say it's okay. How are you going to remelt it safely? You do realize that you will lose some of your fragrance since you'll have to melt the whole candle, so when you burn it you won't get a true throw. I wouldn't even use this candle as a test candle since your variables will have changed.
  15. OH, I forgot about Mimosa & mandarin...luscious in body spray and candles...Sin City is an awesome Nag Champa.....Pharoah's Gold, Lovely, Vera Wang's Princess...I don't have my inventory list in front of me so I'm going on my memory and my blood sugar is kinda low right now.
  16. She has a new line of Spa scents that are very very nice. The lavender chamomile is exactly like the one B&B has a few years ago in their aromatherapy line that I fell in love with. There are a ton of great ones.... decadant pound cake is great by itself but you can add tons to it....totally scruptious is unbelievable...her new butterfly fields and OJ Cake are great. All of her bakery type scents are great throwers and super strong. Her sweet pea blossoms is like the real flower and not the b&b dupe. The lemon magnolia is exactly like the flower.
  17. I narrowed mine down to basically 3 solid recipes. One I use 80% of the time when I just want soap and know this is a very trusted recipe. But the one main reason I use this one over the others is the ingredients. They make an awesome soap...it moisturizes the skin, has the scent last a good long time but most of all the ingredients are very easy to get. Has about (don't have the actual recipe right in front of me) 6 ingredients but only 1 has to be purchased online so as long as I keep a supply of that one ingredient I can always run out to get the rest of the ingredients.
  18. One thing I did last year was make me an excel spreadsheet of each fragrance and how many I had to make of each. I then had a column that I could write in how many were already made and another column for how many left to pour. These I would just write in with pencil and could easily change as I poured them. This way I could always see what I had left to do at a glance. As I finished a scent I would then highlight it. Helped me keep a better handle on it. Congrats on the big order. Good luck...give yourself plenty of time and you'll be fine.
  19. I have a Jacuzzi bathtub, which I think would be close to a hot tub except I drain it after my use, and I use bath salts, and tiny bits of bubble gel to make bubbles with no problem. WIth that said, I do have to run bleach and cleaner thru a 15 min. cycle once every couple of months. I've had the tub going on 12 years with no problems.
  20. If I've learned one thing from being a chandler it's you never stop learning unless you close your mind to it!
  21. I try to make it easy for my customers so they know what's in it by the name. Apple Patch & blueberries w/lemon
  22. Patchouli mixes great with apple....try blueberry with the lemon.
  23. I hired my daughter in law....sorry I know that was no help to you but that's the only help I could trust. My DH and I have two employees and they are both family. You might have luck with a high school kid....try them during the summer break. A lot of girls are more than willing to learn things that they "like" and you could do some bartering with her to pay part of her salary in your products. Be careful on women who are way too eager to work for you cause they will probably just steal all your supplier info and leave you once you've taught them all you know. Good luck!!
  24. JS's Southern Style Vanilla is Ms. Randy's vanilla.
  25. I used to preheat my votive molds with my heat gun immediately before I poured and I'd get the bubbles using IGI 4794. Once I changed to 5050 the bubbles stopped. I think all waxes are males and put on this earth to just drive us nuts!!!!!
