  1. Wow, thanks for all the responses. Some good ideas here. Once I get the chance to try some of these I'll definitely post here to let you know how it turned out.
  2. That sounds promising. I can't really believe that the mold took on the scent either but here we are. I'll give that a try later.
  3. Thanks for the tip, I gave that a shot after you suggested it and it helped a bit. So did scrubbing with some baking soda. I don't think anything is going to get rid of that smell completely though. In the long run I imagine I'm just going to have to get more molds if I intend to keep making the same shape with a variety of scents.
  4. So my fiance and I make food shaped and scented candles and one of her friends really wants us to make her a Blueberry Muffin Candle at some point. Now we were planning on something like this at some point but it got me to thinking. I want there to be blueberry embeds in each candle or at least spots of blue color mixed in with the creamy muffin color but I can't figure out how to do it. It seems to me that if I put the embeds in the mold they would all just collect at the bottom and I wouldn't even know where to begin to get spots of blue mixed in with the rest without turning the whole thing blue. So does anybody have any suggestions before I go wasting a lot of wax and coloring on experiments? Thanks.
  5. I recently started up a scented candle business at home and so far things are going smoothly. The one problem I'm having is that the silicone mold I use for most of my candles seems to trap every scent that touches it. Now every candle I make takes on the subtle scent of every candle that went before it. I've tried washing it out with hot water and soap but that doesn't seem to be working. It there anything I can do?
