  1. Do a search on here- there's TONS of reviews for JS, and tons of people who asked the same question and got huge long lists of favorites.
  2. For Black Raspberry Vanilla- I like Berried Alive, and for Drakkar, how about Mr. Right?
  3. You crack us up sometimes, too I'd like to see that label when you're done with it! LOL!
  4. The only one I've tried is the one from Tony's, my mom and aunt were looking for a myrhh scent and they said it was dead on- FANTASTIC...they absolutely loved it...I'd try there first, then possibly WSP since they usually have pretty good scents. HTH!
  5. I agree their customer service was horrible- the first three times I ordered from them, they were really short with me and I didn't like it- but they had some great prices, and figured not everyone is going to treat me wonderfully. The last time I ordered from them, though, they were AWESOME! They were super nice when I requested shipping quotes, and when a box of salts arrived severely damaged (along with one shattered FO bottle) they very quickly sent out replacements to me and apologized profusely. I believe they have gotten much better! I've only tried three of their oils (their monkey farts is the best one I've tried...at least to me!) but they're great! I'll definitely try more of them the next time I order. Just give them a call to place your order to make sure everything is in stock.
  6. I only have tried the flannel sheets and it is AWESOME!!! When I was testing "laundry" scents in soy wax when I first started out- that one was hands down the best! It smells just like laundry and it's a SUPER strong oil...it kicks butt!
  7. Now, I don't know lard well, but it's a smooth, solid substance. If that's what you have, then whip it (no need to melt it down again) again while slowly adding about 1/2-1 oz. more OIL...don't add beeswax. I've added beeswax to my butters before, and it just felt horrible. If you want a straight up whipped body butter, just try adding a little more oil. Cocoa butter is really hard naturally, and it could be you just didn't have enough oil to keep the butter light and fluffy. Try that and let us know how it goes!
  8. I bought some shrink wrap from them a while back and had the same problem. I now use the shrink wrap tubing from packco and it's awesome. It's really easy to work with and doesn't give off any scent at all. If you sniff the votive, you smell nothing...none of the scent leaking out, and no plastic smell, either. HTH!
  9. I put mine in zipper bags with cardstock stapled to the top. I usually leave a LOT of air in the bag, so the bath bomb has some cushioning. They've yet to break, and my customers love them! Plus, I like the large amount of label space I have with the hang tag. On the front I have a really elaborate title and such and then I have plenty of space on the back for directions, warnings and ingredients. I DO like the idea of individually shrink wrapping them (which I did when I first started) but if you have round bath bombs, the shrink wrap looks weird, you can't really label them well, and my customers had a really hard time getting the shrink wrap off without ruining the bath bomb. Plus, my customers like the fact that there's always some extra "powder" at the bottom of the bag that they can throw into the bath, too. Just what works for me....find something you're comfortable with and something you like and go for it!
  10. I actually do mine the opposite- 1 part lavender EO to 2 parts vanilla. The lavender is just SOOO strong, even if I do half and half, all I smell is lavender But each company is different, and definitely do what works for you!
  11. I personally HATE lip balm in pots. I love the feel of it on my lips, but HATE it on my fingers...blech! So I opted for the tubes! I just use pipettes (plastic droppers) to fill the tubes and it works just fine for me. I tried Maryann's trick once...lol...and knocked the ENTIRE link of 24 filled tubes over. I never did that again...lol. I'd rather knock one over and spill one than waste a whole batch of lip balm because of my clumsiness. I've been debating buying the lip balm trays MMS sells when money allows for such things...perhaps it'd cut down on the spillage. So if you don't mind sticking your fingers in the lip balm- get the little pots if it'll be easier for ya...and BCN's lip balm base is the BEST!!! It was all I used before I started making my own- and I tried about 10 different bases. HAve fun!!!!
  12. Danielle, you crack me up! I LOVE Becky's three sample deal-ee-o. Makes my whole week to get FREE samples! I mean, come on, do companies even know what the word free means anymore?! Gotta love Becky!
  13. So is it possible to make a liquid castille soap at home? (sorry for all of these dumb questions!!) I've heard of people making liquid soap, but I was under the impression that it was very tedious and time consuming (like the reason most people don't make their own shower gel at home.) I've just never seen a recipe for a liquid soap, and I'd love to try it...if not, where do you buy Doctor whatshisname's stuff?
  14. See, I'm new to the whole making CP soap thingy...and I have no idea how you can dilute a solid bar of soap...does anyone else have trouble grasping this concept? It'd be much easier for me to do something like that, but would it bubble up if added to bath water, do you know? Thanks!!!! And Michelle- don't worry, I was just joking about pouring soap in my eyeballs...would be funny though!
  15. You guys are great!!! I'm gonna order some of the stuff from Chemistry store (a ton cheaper!) And Michelle, I'll let you know how it works, okie doke? I've actually gotten some of my soap in my eye (with FO) and it didn't sting, so perhaps if you lightly scent it, it may still be tear free...especially since johnson & johnson has a ton of tear free products that have lovely scents like lavender and chamomile or whatever it is...lol. I'm going to experiment with some of my favorite scents and I'll pour them in my eyeballs and see how they do! LOL. Thanks guys!
  16. I'm a bit confused- if PrairieAnnie is designing your label for you, what are you at a loss for? Does she need a starting point?
  17. Hey Barb- try upping the beeswax a tiny bit- just a TINY bit, though...if you add too much more, it may be too hard to rub in. It should make the bar firmer without compromising the consistency. Don't add any more butters, since they'll just melt as well...the beeswax is firmer and resists melting better. HTH! And I can't help with the pots...maybe if you ask for suggestions under the B&B section- or the business section someone can help you. I only use the tubes, sorry!
  18. My son is a bubble maniac! We go through baby wash/bubble bath like water I was thinking of making him some of my shower gel, which doubles as bubble bath, in a neat scent, but I realized how many odd ingredients are in it..I have NO idea what some of these things are!! So, my question is, does anyone know where I can get some gentle baby bath base...or is there perhaps a recipe floating around out there that I haven't seen? I know it's super difficult to make your own shower gel, but I'm willing to give it a shot. I also tried some powdered bubble bath with him, but my husband didn't like it (he washes my son with the bubbles and these weren't cleansing) and my son got a mouth full of powder when he poured it in the tub Thanks guys!!!
  19. Ohhh, I see... It was late at night- and I didn't read the thread title well enough, I guess!!! Glad it's not costing you $8 per ounce to make them!
  20. Like Carrie, I use those little droppers (I get them from WSP.) And they work wonderfully. I have one tied to each flavor oil I have and they work wonderfully. I've been debating buying one of those trays, but I don't make 30 of the same flavor at one time and I'm not sure how that works really. If you're doing small batches, defintiely try using a pipette.
  21. 2/3 of an ounce is EIGHT DOLLARS?!?! Either those calculations are WAY off, or you guys are using liquid gold in your formulation! What is your wife using in her recipe? It doesn't cost me $8 for a small batch that makes 5 4 oz. bombs. I'd rethink that recipe or do some different calculations and get back to us.
  22. retail's supposed to be 3x your cost, wholesale is 2x your cost and my fundraisers vary depending on how much they get to keep. I think a lot of people probably do 2.5x, so it's more than wholesale and less than retail.
  23. no one? All right- guess I'll keep my eye out for it in the future!
