  1. I have never seen a bath and body label that didn't list the ingredients. Are you sure you couldn't peel the label back to see the ingredients? I know that some companies do it that way..this one may be the same. Robin seems to be the expert on the laws of these things, but I'm almost positive you must list ingredients for bath and body products.
  2. Ok, so I saw the ad under supplier's specials for Connie's Candles today...I'd never seen them before, and came across her sugar scrub base. Has anyone used this before? I fell in love the the sugar scrub from bath and body works and now would like to carry some in my line. Her prices are really cheap, but it's still gonna be $20 with shipping and we just don't have much money to spare at the moment, so if anyone has tried it, please let me know what you think of it. ALSO...nope, not done yet...I saw that KY carries a whip shea butter base (which has water in it, so I'm assuming it's a cream.) I make my own shea butter right now, but I really hate how greasy it is, and I'd like to try something else. People have said that homemade shea sells really well for them, but I'd like to sell something that has the consistency of the body works shea body butter. If anyone has tried this stuff as well, I would really appreciate your comments!! Thank you so much!!! Michelle
  3. Hi again everyone! Well, got my peak's sampler today and they NEVER let me down...great smelling oils...mmm. Anyway, So I saw the ad for Connie's Candles today and I'd never seen the before. Has anyone ever used her oils? She has incredible prices on all of her products (2 gallons of lotion for $12!) And I will also post this in the B&B section, but has anyone by chance ever used her sugar scrub base? I'm thinking of adding it to my line...I love the sugar scrub from bath and body works! So fantastic. Ok, well thanks!!!! And if no one responds, I'll order some FO and let you all know how it does! Michelle
  4. Of course!!! How much are you selling them for?!? I've only got like 50 oils...I need to stay in the game here! Need to contend with some of the fragrance oil masters...and, I always love new scents!
  5. sawyer- you willing to part with that tote bag of oils you don't want anymore? ;-)
  6. thank you guys soooooo very much. I'm going to Peaks today to pick up an order, and I'm gonna get a sample pack of the ones I haven't tried from them yet! Pink Sugar will be one of them. I ordered 2 sampler packs from JS last night, and also a sampler pack from ICS because a few people on here raved about them as well. Pink Sugar was not one of them! Since everyone said Peak's is good, I'll probably go with theirs. I think their prices are awesome and right now about half of my line is peaks (with NG, Cierra and WSP as fill-ins for the Peaks's scents I didn't exactly care for. Thanks for all of your help everyone! Michelle
  7. I think flannel sheets from aroma haven/rustic escentuals is the best fabric softener scent. I love it, and my friend who uses tide said it smells just like her sheets. It has a GREAT throw, too! HTH!
  8. I have a very small budget right now and can only afford to buy 2,three tops, sample packs from suppliers. I've been hearing wonderful things about just scents and most people rave about bitter creek as well. My question is, in all of your experiences, who has better quality, stronger smelling oils? I am looking to add about 20 scents to my line: Pink sugar, buttercream, creme brulee, citrus basil, gingerbread, lovespell, rosemary mint, sage and citrus, peppermint, vineyard, china rain, muscadine, cinnamon, pear, white tea and ginger, mango papaya and juniper breeze. I use IGI's "comfort wax" and Astorlite V for my votives. Any comments or suggestions would be sooo appreciated...wherever you found the best of these scents, just lemme know, even if it's not JS or BCN!!! Thanks!!!!
  9. I have a great idea. If the reason you want to start a candle business is because you want money, and you like candles, how about looking into selling Mia Bella candles. I had someone come by my house just the other day selling them. They're beautiful, they smell nice and the best thing is that you don't have to do ANY of the testing...they send you the candles, you don't have to worry about spending thousands of dollars testing wax, scents and wicks. You can just sell. The girl selling them thought I was lying when I said I owned my own candle business until she saw my GIANT bookshelf filled with candles and test subjects. Give it a try, it may be just what you're looking for!
  10. Gosh!!! How do you guys have any money?! I only have 37 scents that I carry in my candle line and 15 that I use for bath and body. I am ALWAYS tempted to buy more samples, either because I think customers may like them...like strange new concoctions such as lemongrass and sage...(can't even imagine what that smells like, but I think it would sell) or because I want to try them (like pink sugar and love spell and so many others) but I just don't have the time or the energy to test and test and test MORE scents and then change my brochures...I'm too lazy for all of that! I give you guys a lot of credit and have to admit that I am SOOOO jealous of those of you that have over 100 scents...Maybe one day when I have a lot of money, I'll blow it on un-needed FO's! Ahhh, it's good to have dreams.
  11. Thanks all of you for your great replies. I will give them another shot, and test a little in some wax before I judge from now on! Thanks again!
  12. Thanks or your responses. I call mine "Whip it Good" and I've only sold it to my friends and their family members. I never got any bad comments, but I never got any comments, so who knows. I'm not a lotion user, mainly because I really hate the way lotion feels. But the stuff from the body shop was awesome, and they called it whipped body butter...I guess they gave me the wrong idea. So, my next question is this: do people love your greasy shea butter?! I mean, once mine soaks in, it feels awesome, but initially it has that greasy feel, and I don't know if it will sell then. So are cocoa butter and hempseed and mango butter less greasy? Should I try a recipe that uses a mix of different butters? I need help! Thanks!
  13. I got a recipe off here for whipped shea butter. It's 1 lb. Shea, 5 oz. oil, 2 tbsps corn starch and FO. Well, I tried it and it was SOOOO greasy...so I tried it with only ONE oz. of oil and it is STILL greasy. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong here. I got a container of spiced cranberry whipped shea butter from The Body Shop last Christmas and it was so silky smooth and I can't seem to get that feeling from this. I melt down the shea (which is from WSP) then I add the oils and the corn starch and whip it...then put it in the fridge and whip it again..and repeat, repeat, repeat. Please help!!! Thank you!
  14. Hi everyone! I was at a craft show the other day and someone was selling solid lotion in these cute little shapes (some in little tins.) They smelled great and felt really wonderful. I was wondering if anyone happened to have a good recipe for this product! Any help would be appreciated. I saw a recipe for lotion bars(?) not sure if that is the same thing I saw here. Thanks! Michelle
  15. Ok guys, I see that a LOT of people on this board use BCN. I ordered a sampler from them like 9 months ago, and I HATED all of the scents OOB. Was I being too harsh? Should I give them another try in my candles? People rave about them, and there are a few scents I carry that I;m not entirely thrilled with, so...are they just bad smelling in the bottle and transform in candles, or do you guys think they smell the same in the bottles as they do in the candles...if so, then maybe they really weren't what I was looking for...thanks guys!!!!
