  1. Vanilla FOs will turn brown unless you use a stabilizer, and I've made goat's milk soap and heavy whipping cream soap with my crock pot. They turn out perfect.
  2. Did it have a real high superfat?
  3. How about "lavendar-infused ____ oil"?
  4. Those soaps look beautiful!
  5. Well, using less really makes a difference and I just found some corn starch in the cabinet, so guess I'm all set. Thanks!
  6. That's cool, looks like it was intentional!
  7. Thanks! I'm too impatient to wait 4 weeks. Although, if I can figure out what I want in a soap and get the recipe tweaked enough to make me happy, I might try it CP. Then I'd have to worry more about looks... hmmm I'd have to learn to swirl or layer or.... no, think I'm gonna have to stick with my Rice Crispy bricks! Now that I have it kinda figured out, I kinda like them! The Pink Carnation really does smell great, reminds me of the scent of the smoke eater votives I see at wal mart. I love that scent!
  8. Hello, thought I'd snap a pic of some stuff I made yesterday. There are some lip balms with Emu oil (nice and slippery just like Chap Stick, love it!) and some soaps. Bottom left is an unscented, uncolored Cream and Honey (using heavy whipping cream and real honey) recipe I was brave enough to try. I really like the way the bricks came out, I'm getting better at shaping them in the crappy plastic thing I'm using as a mold! Can't really tell a difference in the top and bottom. Yay! Bottom right is scented Pink Carnation, using red and green crayon shavings for color, as you can see, I haven't gotten that down yet! They're shaped kinda funky cause I hadn't figured out the shaping thing yet. Top left is a kitchen soap recipe, scented Cocunut Hibiscus and uncolored. Shaping is a little better, as it was between the Pink Carnation and the Cream and Honey batches! Thanks for looking! One day I hope to bring you some good looking stuff.

    Borax

I went to a couple of different stores, but no one had it, or even knew of it. Until I found the Boraxo, and it's got a bunch of mules pulling a couple of wagons on it, but I don't want to take any chances, I think I'll just find another way. Or find the cosmetic grade. I was kinda hoping to whip up a recipe I found with the ingredients that I have (except the borax, but that was supposed to be easy... yeah right!) but I can wait until the cosmetic grade can ship to me. Thanks again, everyone!

    Borax

Hmmm interesting stuff there. Think I'll just go ahead and NOT use it... thanks!

    Borax

I did a search here on the forums, and boraxo did not come up. Thanks for the link and the information, but that's not what I was asking.
  12. Hi, me again. I can't find Borax at the grocery stores, but I found something called Boraxo, Powdered Hand Soap. Ingredients are Sodium Tetraborax Decahydrate, Fine Toilet Soap. Is this the same thing? I have a recipe for some lotion that uses Borax, and just curious if Borax and Boraxo are the same, it's from the Dial Corporation. Thanks!
  13. Hi there, made some whipped shea last nite, and it's real greasy. Is there anything I can use to cut the grease a little? There's no water, just shea, jojoba, SOA, and a little emu... Any ideas are greatly appreciated!
  14. Those are awesome! Do you have a website?
  15. Hi, made some more soap, damn it's addicting! The round ones were my own recipe that was way too soft, so they're balls now... Scented Sweet Pea. I was going for purple, but the red and blue didn't mix, so I guess it's gonna be called Sweet Confetti LOL The brown ones were also my own recipe, getting sorta bold here.. thinkin' I can come up with my own stuff now.. (yikes) and it was colored with a bit of chocolate shake mix. Scented Buttercream. And the green one is the other batch I posted a bit ago, green German Chocolate Cake. Anyway, I think the Buttercream ones turned out pretty darn ok!
  16. Ok, I'm sure this is dumb but I have to ask. When you use one pound of oils, do you use that as the basis to measure say for example one ounce per pound for FO? Or do you add the weight of the water too? Oh, another question... I would love a log mold for one pound of soap (now, is that one pound of oils still or with the water weight too???), and I'd like to have a standard sized bar, does anyone know what dimensions I would need to build a box? Thanks in advance for any help!
  17. For heaven's sake, DON'T make this with Lone Star's Raspberry Chocolate Drizzle! It may make you want to eat the hand you put it on!
  18. Thanks Top, think that's exactly what I needed!
  19. I think I'm confused on which oil does what... it'll take me a bit to figure all this out. I have a book, but it doesn't say much... just how to do it with a recipe, nothing about coming up with one. Maybe I need another book huh? lol Thanks!!
  20. Cocoa powder! Of course, I'll give it a shot! I tested it again a few minutes ago, and it didn't zap me again, so it should be good to go! I heard food coloring fades in the light, wonder what shade it would fade to. Hmm, anyway guess it doesn't really matter, it smells yummy!
  21. LOL Donna, you sound so like me! By the way I have some brown strawberries & cream... used to be white and red... looks much better now! Quick question.. this soap zapped me. Is this horrible or will it go away after a few hours? :tiptoe:
