  1. and to add to that..... you can use the csn 26 which is a new wick designed like the csn 22.... for palm wax. CS says that the 26 may be able to single wick a 4" jar???? I hope so. I want to test the 22's and the 26's and see how they perform. Kind of exciting I think Mike
  2. Congratulations Asheebeans!! Hard work usually pays off in a positive way and we at LMB congratulate you on a job well done.....good job and keep working hard. Mike and Lea
  3. Thank you Kristi and Traci both for your comments. I really do appreciate them. I did call CS and ask them about that because they had originally told me that the cold should not make a big difference. When I called them this time and explained this to them I was told that probably what had happened was that the wax shrunk in the extreme cold and could no longer hold the amount of fo that I had used. As time goes on the weeping should stop(and it has stopped now). It should not affect the candle and it's burning characteristics but I will watch this to see just how it is affected if at all. I will let you know how storing in the extreme cold can affect the candle while it is burning...if it does at all. Mike
  4. fragrance oil seperation in my palm container candles. I made these about a month ago or so and they have been mostly in the trunk or back seat of my car for most of 3 weeks now. Of course it gets really cold here in Nebraska and they probably have frozen quite well. I took the lid of of one of my blueberry patch (BCN) container (8 oz. jj) candles and lo and behold it was liquid on top none of the other 11 candles in the box have done this. Do any of you have any suggestions as to what may have caused this and the possible solution to fixing it. I used 3/4 oz. of fo per pound of wax for this candle and the wax is CS's GG palm container wax. TIA!! Mike
  5. You may want to try something like Sweet Pea...a great floral, along with maybe a great Black Cherry or Hot Baked Apple Pie. Something fresh like Rain or Spring Rain or even China Rain or Fresh Linen,Clean Cotton is also good. These aren't fo's that we may like the best but they sell great and our customers like them. There are so many choices to make and we wish you the best of luck in the decision process. You won't go wrong if your customers like them and they sell well for you. Mike
  6. Wow grama, that is a very beautiful candle. Thanks for sharing the photo's with us. An outstanding job .... good work!! Mike
  7. You have made an excellent looking palm container candle. Let us know if the single wick works well for you in that size of apothecary jar. So far,we have found that we have had to double wick this size of jar in order to get a really good clean burn. The downside of that is the jars seem to get really hot and we are using the CSN 9's. We are going to test the CSN 7's double wicked in these jars to see if that would still work and yet not get the jars quite so hot. Mike
  8. We pre-heat our jars to about 140-150 degrees in the oven and then melt our wax to between 195 - 200 add fo and color stir well and pour between 185 - 195 degrees. We do that with both the gg and the frosted palm wax and that usually works out very well. The few times we didn't pre-heat jars we did not get a complete crystalization and ended up with some "wet spots" and that is ok with us even though we want to eliminate that part of it..... it still burns and smells good. Mike
  9. We like CS's the best and probably Enchanted Lites would be right behind it. BCN's is also pretty good, but so far Candle Science is our best and strongest Mulberry to date. Mike
  10. I would try their wicks which are designed for votives first and see if those would work for you. We have used their Millennium blend using the HTP 1212 wicks for containers, however,we have not tried to make any votives yet. Mike
  11. Those are all awesome pics Sabrina. I think I like the last one in row 2 the best but your very first one is pretty darn good too. The second third and fourth ones are really good too. Which to choose?? I still like the last one best I guess. Mike
  12. I also use the Enchanted Lites Millennium Blend and I have used their regular 100% soy and have found very few fragrances that throw well with either hot. The cold throw is great but the hot throw just hasn't been really good for us, so we have started using more and more of the palm wax stuff and that seems to work better than soy for most fragrances even though there are still some that just don't throw, so out they go. Mike
  13. Here are some sites to look at if you are interested in that business: http://www.cartridgexpress.com http://www.inksolution.net http://www.thecartridgedepot.com There are more to see if you want to Google em. Mike
  14. Going my way? I need to organize better as well,so that is my immediate goal. Lab coat work too is high on my list. Mike
  15. Thanks for the advice and the search. Stella,I always pour my palm wax at between 185 and 195 and occasionally about 205 if I'm not paying attention to my thermometer santa chee However,I will have fun experimenting. Boy oh boy oh boy Mike
  16. 1. Mulberry (CS) 2. Pumpkin Souffle (CS) 3. Candy Cane (Enchanted Lites) 4. Red Hot Cinnamon (CS) All year round number one is Sweet Pea from NG Mike
  17. Can a mottled soy candle look exactly like palm candles if it is mostly soy wax in the candle? I have always been under the impression that soy at some point will destroy the crystal effect of palm wax. Is there a soy-vegetable blend that creates a palm wax look a like? One of our local competitors here in Nebraska has just such a candle line and they told me that theirs is a soy-vegetable blend and has mostly soy in it but it sure looks like palm wax crystals to me. They also mentioned that it was a "mottled" soy. Mike
  18. Thanks KK and Stella I will do that tomorrow when my GG gets here. I did call CS and they didn't think that was to much fo. I will try the wick ideas and reduce my fo even though I don't think that is my problem. I think it is those dang jj's. I may have to break down and purchase some metro jars and try that instead. Mike
  19. It should work for you. You should be able to print as many labels of one fragrance as you want and then edit it to print a different one for as many as you want all on the same sheet of labels. We have done that many times and it works great. You can even print one label per fragrance for each fragrance you have until the sheet is completely filled up with your fragrance selections. Mike
  20. severe sooting with my CSN 9 (as a single wick) in my 8 oz. jj. it is actually getting worse the closer it gets to the bottom 1/3 of the jar. I am using CS Glass Glow wax and 1 oz. fo per pound of wax. I have not seen any large flickering flame and I don't think I have to much fo in the wax..... but I have been wrong before. Anyone have any helpful suggestions?? Hmmmmm..... maybe I should use simulated palm wax and just put in the wick. Sure would make it easier to make if the wick would just stand up straight all the time. Oh yeah,I would have to use simulated fo too. Mike
  21. Yeah.... what Stella said.... could be very interesting! What color is it? Mike
  22. We may have to try that mix.... Sweet Pea is our number one selling fragrance so this might be a treat for those who like it. Mike
  23. We use palm wax and what I do after getting my jars ready etc. is I leave my pouring pot on a burner set on just the warm setting. It keeps my wax at just about the right pouring temp. and if it gets to hot I remove it for just a minute or two and put it back on the burner until I am ready to pour it. I keep a very close watch on the temp. so it doesn't get away from me and start a fire. So far I have not had any problems with that other than putting the poured candle containers into the oven.... it's not pretty when they fall over in a warm oven.... it does smell good though for several days afterwards Mike
  24. You must be able to ..... Mia Bella's says that's what they do????? It used to be in their product description anyway. Mike
