  1. ok...are you saying the soap was stuck to the mylar or the mylar itself was sticky? I have had the mylar stick to one certain soap I make...so I have learned to let that batch set longer than I usually do. But all of my hard batches look like glass whan they come out of the mylar lined mold. I only have to worry about my hemp soap...that one is much softer than my normal soap.
  2. You are right...this board can be a wealth of knowledge...but be careful...B&B is VERY adicting! I do wholesale to several Nail Salons amd Spas in my area. If you make a good product that you believe in and sell your belief to your customers you will be a successful woman! Good Luck!
  3. I get my Shea Oil from Oils by Nature...great price and a superior product!
  4. It has been my experience that the clear hols up longer than the frosted.
  5. Scented and Diamond...if you guys dont have a JoAnn Fabrics near ya then try an Art Supply Store or anyplace that makes signs...mylar is used to make templates. oooorrrrrr...go to JoAnn fabrics online and order it. Scented...get the clear one...not the frosted like we had at the conference in Texas.
  6. I pour at thin trace...mine has never leaked. For my 5lb mold...I take the sheet of mylar and fold it lenght wise in the mold...basically shove the mylar down in and then score it yo the bottom ...take it out and fold it...there is one side...repeat the process for the other side....then I take my transparencies and measure and cut out the end pieces....Taaadaaaa!
  7. YUM!!!! Send me one! I LOVE SOUR!!!!! Seriously, would love to try it.....maybe mylar for lip balm???...LOL
  8. I am gonna be in KY in a few weeks...too bad I am going to eastern Ky...nowhere near Louisville...or I would make your liners for ya! Do a search...I honestly think I posted how to make them about a yr or so ago.
  9. JoAnn Fabrics...just ask for Quilting Mylar. I use the clear one...you can use the frosted type...but it doesnt hold up as well. For my 2lb molds...I just use Transparencies. I have been using the same liner for over 2 yrs now!
  10. I make mylar liners for all my molds...just fold and cut to fit...just wash off when finished and it is ready for another batch! I HATE freezer paper! and the whole lining with a garbage bag is too ghetto for me!...lol I had a TOG mold and sold it...never used it as it looked sort of flimsy to me. I am not a fan of the HDPE molds....so it is wood for me. But lining with mylar is my savior!
  11. You can do your address...like say Corning, NY 14830..then your phone #. I do not put my home address on my products.
  12. We have a couple of Amish Bulk Food stores here in my area and they are SUPER high. I was looking for Sea Salt and it was like $3 for half of a pound! I guess our Amish are greedy here in NY...lol
  13. I do wholesale on the bears...they sell like crazy. I have right at $6 into each finished bear. That is including the plate. I wholesale them for $11 and retail them for $15.
  14. I would check out the supplier website that you purchased it from....they will usually tell you the reccomended usage in each application. I usually go to ones like Lotioncrafters, To Die For or MMS.
  15. I second Oils By Nature! They are the only ones I buy butters from now.
  16. I do 10% in products. I also give the Hostess a 26oz candle for just hosting the party. I do not normally make that size so it sort of makes them feel special.
  17. LOVE LOVE LOVE my Lil Shaver!!! I use this lil jewel on all my soap and have never had any marks on mine. I had the Kangaroo Blue one when I first started and it didnt trip my trigger...too bulky and the bevels looked horrible. There is no guessing with the For Craft Sakes shaver. I think I paid $5 for mine too at the Chicago Conference 3 yrs ago. Loved it so much, I ordered a spare!
  18. I use Salt Scrub all the time and I have yet to have it sting my skin even if I do have a cut. I make both...salt and sugar scrubs and I prefer Salt scrubs 10 to 1! My customers feel the same.
  19. Your Sugar Scrub sounds like my Salt Glow. To answer your question...yes, you can use soy oil. It is cheap and feels nice on the skin. I sell tons of my Salt Glow, so I keep my oils mixed up in a huge container. I do 70% Soy, 20% Almond, 10% Fractionated Coconut Oil. You can get 35lbs of pure Soy Oil at Sams Club for $21.....last yr it was $15!
  20. I think CBE is on to something here!...lol However, one of the reasons we have to have a stronger smelling bar of soap is, MAYBE, because of the dreaded candle nose! Face it, we are immune to the scent. People walk into my house and say..."OMG it smells so good in here"..I cant smell a thing. I dont smell the scent of my soap sometimes too....but my co workers can smell it. I usually use one of my co workers as a tester.....I can always smell the soap on her...but not on myself. I think our noses are shot!...lol But, some FO's will fade in soap...just part of the chemical process breaking down the FO. I dont think you are using the wrong types of oils. Soaping oils can be hit or miss.
  21. I use them because I make up gallons of lotion and store it..then package it as needed. So I run a test on the lotion after it has sat a month to see if there is anything funky growin there. So far so good!
  22. I have used the ones from The Chemistry Store...pretty good. I like Peacock Dyes better...just google and you can find places that sell them. A lot of people like Celestial Colors....I havent tried them. I am a Mica girl!!!
  23. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...Unfortunately most of my weekend will be consumed by candles. However, I do have to make time to make 8lbs of Body butter, 20lbs of Body Polish (Sugar Scrub), 20lbs of Foot Soak, 25lbs of Foot Scrub and 60 16oz Salt Scrubs. I LOVE my Spa Accounts!!!!!!!! WHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I wanna make soap...now that I have pretty colors to play with! AND...the BF and I are going to the Casino tonight.....WISH ME LUCK!!!!...lol
  24. Online Labels is the ONLY place I will order from! They have great cust service and super fast shipping! During my Fundraiser season I usually order about $800-$1,000 worth of labels and have never had a problem.
  25. I dont usually comment on pics...but OH MY! You have got it goin on there girl! AWESOME!!!!
