  1. To me Peak's Creme Brulee smells nothing like the real thing. You will not find a better CB than TriState.
  2. Ok Scented...I have been to the Chicago and TX conference with you...come to the PA one or the NY Soapmakers gathering. You need to get back to NY...right?...lol I was not impressed at all with the Chicago Conference I attended a few yrs back...was VERY disorganized.
  3. I have never been there...but I know the name of the town...a lot of Car/Home Finance biz's have there headquarters there....I type in Caraopolis, PA as a lein holder at least 10 times a day!...lol YAY!!! I am looking forward to meeting all of you!
  4. You girls wont be dissapointed! I have been to several Candle/soap gatherings/conventions and I have not regretted a single one! To be honest, I dont usually learn a whole lot from the demos...but it is the networking and gathering of information from all the participants that I use. Not to mention is is usually a great time! I have been to ones in OH, NY, IL & TX. We usually have the most fun in the hotel!
  5. WOOOHOOOO! Cant wait. We need to get all the NY and PA gals there. ....and neighboring states! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:
  6. Have you tried adding Dry Flo, Cornstarch or IPM? Those ingredients usually cut down on the greasy feeling
  7. DARN! I was hoping this was close to my momma...but it is like 4 hrs from Knoxville area. Was hoping for the kill 2 birds with one stone sort of thing...lol
  8. I second the Creekside Molds. I have 2 of them and they are very well constucted. I ordered the 3lb mold and it holds a 2lb batch nicely as I dont like really tall soaps. I love my log molds ...not a slab gal at all. Good luck!
  9. You may be able too in a sense. Remember, if you order supplies in bulk then you get a better price. I always buy extra supplies during FR time and they usually do me most of the yr. I do a 16oz FR candle in a 16oz Mason jar...I hate the looks of the jars but they are dirt cheap and I can get them local. I sell them for $10 and the grop gets $4 for each one they sell. Yes, I know my price is low...but I only have $2 into ea candle and I would rather have the great #'s and repeat biz then to price myself out of the market.
  10. Dont worry about how much they may sell...just let them sell! I do HUGE Fundraisers every year...over 5,000 candles...you will get thru it. Make sure that when you give them a delivery date that you give yourself enough time to pour. I give my groups a deadline to have the totals and half of the money turned into me....then I make sure I have at least 2 full weekends to pour before the delivery date as I have a full time job. I never start pouring until I get the totals and the money...NEVER. Good Luck!
  11. I have had a few batches like that...the soap is good but just looked too bad to sell. I make Sudsy Sacks. I shred the soap then sew it into a wash cloth. They sell like crazy at my home shows. I dont rebatch because I think rebatching is more hideous than the soap I started with!
  12. I know you said ESPECIALLY PILLARS...but if you are making jar candles too, I thoght I would chime in. I am currently working on a huge Fund Raiser with 9oz hex jars and the most we have poured has been 83 cases in a day. Thats 996 candles. We use a turk n surf to melt the wax. What are you using to melt your wax? Presto pot? Wax Melter? Turk n surf? That may be a big factor in some peoples production. To me, this would be true if you were making pillars or jars. If you can keep the wax melted and a free mold or jar...you are golden.
  13. Hmmmmmmmm well it is in the SOAP MAKING section...and the mold has a lot to do with soap making...lol Anyway, I had one of these molds and HATED IT! The add said it was a 4lb mold and I think I was lucky to get a 3lb batch in it. It leaked and the soap stuck to it horribly. Would NEVER purcahse one of those molds again...I am a wooden log girl!! Sorry you are not happy with your purchase...I think a lot of people feel that way where these molds are concerned...and then again, some love them.
  14. You will not find a better Creme Brulee! There are some other oils I use from there that are top sellers for me and have STRONG throw! Rain, Warm Pumpkin Crunch, Lemongrass and Orange, to name a few.
  15. Oh girl I am already workin on that! You remember the SMOKIN HOT guy that I wrote Insurance for? He wants to help!!!!! OMG all he has to do is just sit there and talk....I think I would do the heavy lifting for him!!!!
  16. To those who asked......For this FR, I do the 9oz Hex jars. Right now it will be just I and my so called business partner pouring. mystical_angel and tlc26 will be joining me later. I have a few non candle making friends that will help wick jars and label. Its gonna be a big job...but so worth it! I usually have one big ticket item I buy myself each yr from the profits. One yr was a car (used of course) Last yr was new wardrobe (from losing weight) and a nice laptop. This yr, I am working my butt off to get the so called business partner out of my house!!!!!...lol...oh, and an elliptical.
  17. THANKS!!! I let them offer 10 different scents. I usually have them offer the top 6 scents from the previous yrs and then they fill in the rest.
  18. I have a HUGE Fund Raiser with a local Middle School each yr. Each yr it keeps getting bigger...well, except for the yr after I used a certain company's oils...but that is another story. They turned in the totals to me yesterday.....with more added on today and a few more to come in tomorrow. SO far, the Total is 4,978 candles! :yay: :yay: I always round up to a full case...so I am sure it will be over 5,000. I have 3 more starting next week. Much smaller ones, but those are PURE profit as I usually order extra supplies when I am ordering for the big one...saves money on shipping! I will try to post some pics of the semi organized production...
  19. To me Oils By Nature is the best! I will not use anything but their Refined (Lotion Grade) Shea. LOVE IT ! And they have the best Mango too!
  20. Jennie... I make foot soak for a couple of the local spas. I use a mixture of fine sea salt, coarse sea salt and epsom salts....with a little oil and eo's....and color. Yes, they do dissolve. The Spas use them in their pedicure chairs with the whilpool tubs. They have been using my product exclusivly for over 2 yrs now with no problems. They also use my Foot Scrub and Foot Balm! Since you make your own products...I wont try to wholesale you mine...lol PM me if you want to know anything further.
  21. Nice work girl! I cannot even begin to swirl like you do! I am gonna have to try a salt bar soon....they sound and look interesting.
  22. Anyone make Pie Candles? My biggest Wholesale Account is looking for a Food candle maker. Her shop only carries Handmade items and she loves to promote NY artists....and PA artists since we are so close to the PA border. I have hooked a few of my fellow crafters up with this account. My friend who made the Pie candles is now out of the biz. Pm me if anyone is interested.
  23. I had a hysterectomy as was makin candles again in 2 weeks. Its all according on how your body heals...you will know when you are ready. Good luck with the surgery.
  24. I freeze my Hemp and Castor Oils. The others I usually use pretty fast so I dont freeze them
