  1. The one I received is just not up to par... I am using 100% soy and would like one to knock my socks off. Any recs?
  2. I haven't used that cream from NG (I make my own) but I did want to butt in here and say that I have been doing business with NG for 3 years and Dreama is a "dreama" to work with - oh, how corny lol NG has excellent pricing, customer service and their fo's are second to none.
  3. I haven't ever really been successful with the wrapping of the bathbombs. I have used plastic wrap, poly baggies, shrinkwrap and candy foils. I tell ya, I haven't sold as many bathbombs as I have now that they are nakid - Nakid just seems to sell
  4. I was toying with the idea of bringing these into my shop to sell so I bought 3 of them & had my MIL, my DH and me try them out and I got mixed reactions - but the result seemed the same. MIL - Loved the lathering, but after a week it developed a stinky water funk & it got "real gooey and weird" DH - Really liked that he didn't have to use soap and the lather was great. Also thought it got stinky, but didn't say anything about the gooey. Me - At first I really liked the idea. They were really lathery, but I wanted to get all the lather out, so mine didn't really last at all. It had no soap in it after about the 5th day & was just a sponge after that. I get pretty paranoid about sponges, so I threw it out... I guess the hardcore germaphobes & people who like to rinse things clean won't be interested in these, so I dropped the idea. Is a cool idea though and I bet they are making some good money on them.
  5. Congratulations!! ...and the flood gates open...
  6. Last year we got two booths, but this year I actually moved my retail store to Utica and it is smack dab in the middle of all the booths and food stands, so I didn't have to buy a booth this year. We are going to set up a tent right outside the door and do demonstrations with the sugar scrubs and give away free shea butter sorbet, so I am hoping to lure them into my store I have already started to take pictures!! woot!
  7. That is crazy cheap and you should get in there!! If they are expecting that many people, wow - how can they prove that? Is it a first year show? Are they advertising? Find out all this information and call the head of the festival. Tell them your concerns and they should work with you. $35.00 a day for 10,000 people is a helluva deal and I would be on that like white on rice lol
  8. These seem to be my top 5 sellers no matter what time of the year, but I don't do seasons. Citrus Safari - citrus blend Congo Bongo - coconut mango Get Fresh - cucumber melon Island Vacation - plumeria Vanilla Sugar - brown sugar, vanilla, musk I have been known in the past to bring out the apple & pumpkin pies, hot chocolate and some kind of Christmas scent & those seem to move too right around this time. They will really fly out the door if you group them with a Christmas mug or Thanksgiving jar...
  9. It's an emulsified cream that has shea butter and coconut oil in it. Surprisingly enough it isn't greasy - which I actually stumbled into than created lol - and it is like a thick rich lotion. We melt the oils and add our water and whip it to death - I mean for like an hour it gets whipped, but it is not fluffy. Does that make sense? lol It actually feels light on, but it is a heavy cream (as in weight)...now I really feel like I'm not making sense lol
  10. My Cherry Berry seems to move out the door pretty well, but when I made a grape scented candle for Christmas last year, I couldn't give them away! Agreeing very much with the grape remarks lol:D
  11. We always mix our lye water the day before we make soap. You could try that too.
  12. I make a shea butter sorbet that is more of a thick cream than a butter, but sell them in 2, 4 and 8oz jars. I would have to say that our 4oz is our top seller.
  13. This show is soooo cheap to enter, it is almost a crime. A 10x10 space is $40.00 - it is insane!! I did this show last year and made about $2,500.00 in my booth. I am hoping this year since I actually have a store I will make $5,000.00!! I will take lots of pics!!
  14. I think I came up with a great EO blend for this mud thing I am doing. Thanks to everyone for helping me decide which EO's I wanted to use. I have decided to use equal parts of lavender, orange and peppermint. It is very refreshing and 5 out of 5 employees enjoyed the freshness!!
  15. Hi, I'm Jenny Hoehn and I too am a long burner. :tiptoe: I can't help it, I guess I am lazy lol I do educate my customers though as much as possible. I try to convince them that they will last ALOT longer if they burn them 4 hours at a time.
  16. Has anyone ever heard of this? I just wanted to remind you all that it is next Sunday - over 100 vendors and we are expecting about 50,000 people. I am looking forward to it as my shop is smack dab in the middle of all the hubbub!! I hope you locals can come and see me!! Let me know if you are coming, I would love to see you there!
  17. Our first company costed us $800.00 a month (yeah, I know!!!) After I dropped them, I went to a different company and now am paying about $150.00 a month, but I have a storefront, employees, production area and alot of wholesale accounts. It goes on what you make - well, not what you MAKE, but what it COSTS you. Same goes for worker's comp and liability. Honestly? My sister does all my paperwork, they don't fill me in on anything that really matters LOLOL
  18. I use the ones you get from: www.orientaltrading.com I am not sure how big they are, but they are cheap and I go through them like underware lol
  19. These places have boxes right now in white and kraft. I am not sure if this is what you are talking about, but it is the first thing that popped in my head: http://www.thescentworks.com/ http://www.forcraftssake.com/ Hope that is what you are looking for. These boxes are great for soap!
  20. For those of you that don't have insurance, what would happen if your house would burn down? How would you recoup from the loss? So much emphasis is put on the liability issue of insurance, but alot of people forget about the other stuff. I read the other day on a board that it was raining at one lady's home and her roof caved in! She lost all her soap, supplies, etc to water damage. It made me so sad & I am kind of on a quest now to educate others on insurance. Check around and do some research. While I was researching for insurance for my business this year when my partner decided to screw me, I found out that we shouldn't of thrown ourselves at the mercy of these companies charging an arm a leg. There are many good companies out there that will taylor to your business & it won't cost you a ton. Please remember that alot of these places will take monthly payments too & the piece of mind you get is priceless. No, I'm not an insurance agent lol - I actually drove my CAR 3 years without insurance, so in no way am I an avid speaker for insurance, but when it comes to business, you have to separate that from your actual life. Give it a life of it's own and you will see how easy it is to start doing things "the right way" (I use that term very loosely hence the quotes lol) Here are some places that will help you: farmersinsurance.com (some have local agents - get your insurance locally!) Acuity (are you in the midwest? They have local agents!) BombaInsurance.com (strictly for the home based business, no storefronts) RLIcorp.com Or, if you have an insurance company now for your house, car, boat, etc and you like them (and trust them), go in there and see what THEY can do for you. If they can't insure you, I'm sure they may try to point you in the right direction. GEEZ - sorry this was so long!
  21. Are these essential oil blends or fragrance oils? I have a client that is being very strict with me and will only use EO's. I went to Candlewic, but I only seen their EO page, but no "Spa" - is it a blend?
  22. I just got an email the other day from this place: www.sheetlabels.com They are cheaper than the place I was getting before and from the email I got, they are small time business owners like us.
