  1. I just got this from Keith: Hello, This is Keith Seroka, owner of Sero Designs. I am in the process of working on pricing in low quantities with my printer. Pricing will be dependant on design, quantity and shipping. I will know the price on printing by end of business Monday, October 17th. At that time, I will make up a detailed sheet for everyone. Thanks for your business, and I hope to provide everyone with their needs. Thanks again. I am pricing based on Gloss prints, waterproof with a 3 year print (3 years outside, maybe 20 indoors). Custom cut in whatever shape needed. I have been in business for nearly 2 years, primarily doing sign design. I have an associates in Graphic Design, and have been in the field for 12 years. I have designed T-shirts, Signs, vehicle decals, tattoos, package design and a large number of print jobs. My website is www.serodesigns.com but at the moment I have had to revert back to my picture of the site there, due to server problems with my old site. It should be back up soon. Thank you for your business, Keith Seroka Sero Designs 1423 Phelps St, Ottawa, IL 815-579-1764 :yay: :yay:
  2. I joined just a couple of weeks ago - did you guys do the poll on these yet. I would love to see the pics as I think all of us can do 100% better than anything you buy in the stores!
  3. Agreeing here with the Smoke/Odor Eliminator from NG! My FIL has a lady that he visits every week and she has about 10 cats & he brings over a candle to her to burn. Needless to say the cat smell is gone!
  4. Great! I suggest that if any of you are even thinking about the label thing, email him. It doesn't hurt to ask and I bet alot of you will definitely benefit from this. Think of all the time you will save (not to mention labels, printer ink, etc lol)
  5. I have Printmaster and I have never been able to change the color of the texture. However, I have been able to make it into a jpg, then color it. That seems to be the only way it works.
  6. I have been having problems with them lately too. First make sure that your java and adobe are up to date, then if you still have problems, I find that if you clear your cache and restart your puter, it usually stops the problem. Good luck - I know how frustrating it is!!
  7. :highfive: Good job! Sometimes those little affairs can turn out pretty darn good! :highfive:
  8. Do you have anything trademarked or patented? Did you get your business license or FIN number at all? If you did, I do believe you have to call the offices that handle those things and tell them you are going to be transferring ownership. I know it sounds expensive, but get yourself a lawyer too - you don't want to sell your business and 6 months down the road they come back on you because you forgot to transfer something. If I've learned one thing about having my own business it is that you need a good lawyer. They will do everything in their power to make sure you are taken care of. It is always nice to get one that you can bribe with products too LOL
  9. As far as I know it is both. I know he does some designing himself & he also does the printing. All of his labels are waterproof and he has the biggest selection of labels I think I have ever seen. He showed me his portfolio today (new one) and I can't believe all the different stuff he has. I told him all about my soap and candle buddies on the internet and he said he would love to help us out!
  10. I have the best resource for everyone! I just talked to my label guy today and he told me that he has a $20.00 minimum!!!!! I was freaking out & could barely breathe I thought you would all like to know this and if you are interested in getting some professional labels, please call my guy. He not only does the labels, but can do brochures, catalogs...well, everything!! Interested? Please email Keith at Keith@serodesigns.com He said he is ready to answer any questions that any of you may have. :highfive:
  11. Don't get frustrated! You live and learn We would load THREE vehicles when I first started shows, so that may make you feel better lol
  12. When we first started to do shows, we took everything! I mean the whole place & I have 6 different products and 30 scents!! Since I now have a few shows under my belt, we now only bring our top 10 scents (we usually bring more candles because we almost sell out every time!) Then I have a table that has an array of products in our other 20 scents, so people can smell them. If they want to order them, I have a nice order form on that table with a big sign that says FREE shipping for all orders over $25.00 today only!! It really works well for us & I also tell them that they can expect it by the end of the week, so that really lures them in... OR they just say nah, I will just get these instead lol It's a win/win!!
  13. I think you should charge what you want. There is no "formula" or "right way" to charge. I'm sure the Joe Malone candle that I seen the other day for $684.00 had no formula...just a name slapped on it. Point is, make sure you charge enough to cover yourself, your labor, your electricity making the product, rent, mortgage, etc and then go from there. If you are happy with paying yourself your wage, getting your material costs back and paying your rent, mortgage, etc - anything you make above all that goes directly into your pocket. What would you be happy shoving in your pocket after all expenses are paid?
  14. I've been with them since the beginning. They are only about an hour from me and my DH has been going to pick up when I need stuff. Their prices are very reasonable and Mike is a dream to work with, but if you want credit good luck lol I applied in January and I am still waiting for a call back...lol They are a little slow when it comes to that!
  15. I haven't decided what I want to do yet, but I am digging around to find out more information right now.
  16. I honestly don't know too much about labels, but the lady that I went through did. Yes, I did get quite a few...but I thought of it as an investment and wouldn't you know it, my labels cost about .004 each. Yeah, you have to actually get 4 labels together to make a penny! There are quite a few people I was dealing with at the time and I would be happy to send share information with you!
  17. I was going to get a printer like that, but opted for professional labels instead. Sometimes it is worth it. I can't even fathom sitting at the computer and making labels now. Did you happen to look into professional labels? I couldn't help noticing that yours were clear and it made me think about asking you because my labels are clear too.
  18. I would be interested in seeing what your website looks like. May I have the link?
  19. We add it as soon as we start mixing and you really have to play with it to have it suit you. Too much for some may not be enough for others and vice versa. It took us about 5 batches to get it perfected the way that I wanted it.
  20. I put baking soda in my men's line CP bars. I like the scrubbiness it gives the skin and my husband swears that he doesn't stink or sweat as much as he used to using store bought soap, so I kept it in there.
  21. Why don't you send it back and ask them to pay for the shipping? I hate to play devil's advocate here, but why didn't you get a sample first?
  22. Make my own too! I love creating things...especially when they are raved about
  23. Well... There was a ton of people there, but it didn't seem like they were really buying! I can tell you one thing right now, next year I will be definitely getting a booth uptown and also have the store open too. We made ½ of what we did last year & that made me a little mad, but our whole weekend was amazing. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday were great & I did make my lofty goal, but I really wanted to make that on Sunday alone lol I am getting my pictures back soon...I hope they all turned out because my neice was playing around with the camera and I think she may have exposed the roll. I am crossing my fingers - well I do have some pics of my store that I can post at least lol All in all, it was a great weekend - did anyone go??
