jeniryan
Hi all! Outside of ordering online, does anyone shop local retailers i.e. Walmart, Party City, etc for portion cups? If so, what brands do you avoid?
FaithfulScenter
There was a post a while back that said they have them at Walmart, although I haven't been able to find them. Also I believe they have them at Sam's. HTH!
ChandlerWicks
They're next to the Dixie cups on the top shelf in paper plate aisle. I should say in the 3 Wal-marts near me.
Georgia
GFS - Gordon Food Service - has them. Do you have them or another restaurant supply by you?
adillenal
When I first started trying out the portion cups I used the kind from Sams. After sitting for awhile some of the fragrances ate through the cups. Not all but enough that I would not advise using the portion cups sold at Sams for wax melts. megandgarr
I probably should have asked this question before I poured a bunch of my melts in these yesterday afternoon. Oops. So for those of you that use the portion cups from Walmart, have you had any issues with your melts losing their scent? I am only a hobbyist so I really dont have a need to buy portion cups in bulk, so these would be perfect for my purposes. The ones I bought are the Diamond brand. The cups have the number 5 and the lids are PET 1. Are the cups sold at Sams the same as the Walmart cups? Thanks,
justajesuschick
As a buyer, I never had any of the round cups lose their scent but I did have a number that softened/looked melted form the FO used. As a result, I prefer to use the thicker, oval Ellipso cups. I am surprised how quickly I have plowed through a case!
marcuset
Never had a problem. You can also find the Diamond Brand at Lowe's.

se2653
I also use the ones from Walmart- have not had any problems so far- they have retained the scent well.
dillypooh
No problem here with the walmart ones.
dnj
Same here with the ones from Wally world. No problemsThe ones I did recentley have trouble with are the ones from AH/RE. The cups were melting kind of. They were fine at first then changed brands because the most recent ones are not as clear as the cups they used to sell.In the past couple of months I have purchased the Diamond brand from Walmart and they are working out fine for me. se2653
The only problem I had with a couple of the packs from Walmart was that the package didn't have enough lids. I called the company and they are sending me coupons for more....
megandgarr
Does the temp at which you pour into portion cups (as opposed to pouring into molds) have any impact to the H/T?
se2653
I've had great HT with some wax combinations I've experimented with (PB/Excel and EL), pouring at around 145-155- I'm sure more experienced "melt experts" will also chime in! lmc
The cups at Sams are not suitable for melts...they don't have the #5 on the bottom. hth
