Anyone make a rockin 100% soy melt?

Can this be done? I use a blend right now, but with my main supplier going out of business, I am looking for something solid. I have played with 100% soy before but just couldn't get the "umph" out of it. Also, I think you have to wait for it to cool before pouring, which will hold me up while making them too (I like to move right along...).

I thought I could ask here and see what the general consensus was. Thanks so much for any help :)

I think it depends on what wax you are working with but my tarts are strong and coupled with the perfect FO can scent for days! Might want to try Ecosoya PB to start with. It makes a really nice tart. I use my own wax blend, but this is what I started with and just burned a pumpkin crunch cake tart I made last year at this time from the PB and it is strong!

I use a blend of Ecosoya PB and Ecosoya Xcel and I'm getting wonderful reviews from my customers at how great the scent is and how long they last.

I do have to wait for it to cool before pouring because otherwise it would melt the plastic containers.

Thanks :)

So when it comes to making your own blend. How do you go about it. I know it sounds silly. I'm working out of Presto Pots right now, so do you just add a certain weight of one wax and then another? Or do you make a huge tub of the blend right off the bat? Thanks for the help :)

I use 416 and have no complaints so far.

Pour temp is 90-104, but I pour hotter (120 - into metal molds) as I find it cuts down on frosting, although not all together.

That said here in Australia the hobby makers like me pretty much only have the choice of Golden Brands or Ecosoya, and I haven't tried the Ecosoya yet (have just ordered some to try out though) so my experience is VERY limited.

Of all the soy waxes I tried, I always got the best throw with the GB415, followed by the Ecosoya PB; third was the C-3. But that was quite some time ago. Then I went to paraffin and never looked back. Have fun experimenting! :-)

I just started making melts using the Ecosoya PB. Still doing some testing, but wondering from those who use this wax at what temp are you adding your FO and what temp are you pouring at? I have had some frosting, but working on trying to correct that. Any tips for this wax would be appreciated.

I'm using the Golden 464 and Ecosoya pillar. Intially the melts are awesome, but the next day, not much. That's not good and I'm not sure what to do with them to make them better. I really wanted to make the 100% soy a go, but I'm feeling a bit defeated *sigh*

I use Ecosoya PB for my melts too. I heat to 185 and add dye chips and FO. Then cool and pour into clamshells at 145. Haven't had any problems with frosting at all ..... yet. :-)
