  1. I stopped ordering from ICS when she switched over where she got the clamshells from. They were stinky and flimsy. Then I found that Candlescience had some nice ones, equal to the 1524 from Impact, nice and sturdy, no stink. I did find out that Impact sells a 1524 and a 1524C. The "C" kind are the more flimsy kind, made in China. I called them up to ask before I ordered a case the last time. Looks like I need to find funds to order from Impact again as Candlescience just sent me a box of flimsy stinky clamshells and I am ticked... I know I didn't like the huge clamshells from Rustic Escentuals as they were flimsy comparted to what Candlescience had (well at least last time I ordered from them they were, however this time they sent me crap!). I haven't tried Bittercreek, they might be my last hope for a small order to get me through. Good luck. Basically anything I've seen with the little indent on the bottom of it, wasn't the right thing for me.
  2. I used to get mine from ICS, until they switched to the thinner clamshells with the slight indent in the bottom. I then ordered a large batch from Impact and actually called them up to ask them about the clamshells. They said they sell two types, one made in China (the thin ones) and ones made in the US. I made sure to order the made in the US ones. The 1524 C is the thin ones and the 1524s are the nicer ones IMO. I hated the thin ones myself. Hope that might help some CandleScience has nice clamshells also...
  3. I really like the Jack Frost type from Wholesale supplies, but $40 for a lb makes me about sick. I've tried bc's before and it just didn't seem the same. Anyone know of something similiar to the WSP that doesn't cost an arm and leg? Or maybe have a hint on blending that might get me close? Thanks I read on WSP that theirs has Vanilla, mint and pine, while bc's just says mint and vanilla blend.
  4. I'm using the Golden 464 and Ecosoya pillar. Intially the melts are awesome, but the next day, not much. That's not good and I'm not sure what to do with them to make them better. I really wanted to make the 100% soy a go, but I'm feeling a bit defeated *sigh*
  5. Wow yeah that stuff makes my head spin a bit Just when I think I "get" something, I have to try to relearn. Thanks!!
  6. The Scentsy bar had a little "tm" after it, while the Yankee Home Sweet Home had a little r (in the circle)... Confusing
  7. I have a general question on naming things. I know that you aren't supposed to take a trademarked name and use it flat out, correct? For instance, I can't call something Love Spell, but I thought I could say "love spell type." I was being nosy on the Scentsy site and see they have a bar called "Home Sweet Home" with a little "tm" after it, however, I recognized this as a Yankee scent, also called the name that I thought was trademarked as theirs. So I'm confused a bit and thought maybe someone could give me a quick answer. I know there are posts on trademarking I can probably search, but was hoping for just a quick "well this is why." Thanks
  8. What are you general "rules" for wholesale pricing and do you place minimums on orders? I'm going to have to raise my prices and am a little stuck. I figured my wholesale cost was twice what it cost me to make. Then retail is between 3-4 times what it cost me to make. However, I recently changed to 100% soy and all of my oils have gone way up, so I have to price increase. As far as I can figure, things need to go up by .25... Is your wholesale price normally half of your retail? Do most retailers expect to DOUBLE what they pay for your products? Any tips helpful. I don't like to raise prices, but at the same time, I can't keep taking the loss either. Oh, I make soy wax melts btw, if that matters Even my new retail (although a bit higher than before) is still below Scentsy so I think that's good then. I see lots of ranges of prices for clamshell melts and mine will be at the higher end of it, but I've gone over the numbers several times and keep getting the same costs. Thanks
  9. I use the night light warmers and dump mine out when they're warm. Otherwise if I let one harden, I turn the warmer on for a little bit just to get the outside of the disc soft and then dump it out (it normally slides right out) or wipe it out with paper towel (since it's mostly still hard, just melted enough to move out of the warmer). Someone recently told me that Scentsy is selling these little things you put in your warmer under your melts and then when the melt hardens you just pull up the tabs and it pops out. Ridiculous IMO, but I can see how people would be buying them nonetheless...so clever on their part I guess.
  10. I used to use a piece of pegboard with long straight hooks for mine. Then I could put multiples on the hooks. Since then I bought a nice sized wooden board and put wooden pegs into it though for a better look. We just threw together the pegboards so they got pretty beat up in the process, but they worked
  11. I got very little throw from the NG Oatmeal Cookie in parasoy. However I can second that CS's Cranberry Marmalade is great. Hansel & Gretels house is a good one too. Grandma's cupboard sells well for me (From KY/RE), but I'm not a fan myself.
  12. I see that they have a $30 minimum and then it says if you don't meet the minimum they will bump your order up to $30 so you do. Wth... Sheesh. Everytime I've had to contact them over something the service reps were really rude also. I'm feeling lost about the essential oils now, ugh.
  13. Omg I am out of my mind right now!! I had some of their essential oil blends and was basing my "new" line on them and went in to their site and BAM! Insanely outrageous prices. To say I'm in a panic is an understatement. Are there any other places to get essential oils and blends at a reasonable price? (I did find the essential wholesale link but wondered if anyone had any others?) I am DONE with WSP, for reasons you all have already mentioned. Small businesses having to try to cope with all the price increases in regards to everything is getting to be too much. I'm starting to get worried about how to deal with it all. Ugh...
  14. Thanks So when it comes to making your own blend. How do you go about it. I know it sounds silly. I'm working out of Presto Pots right now, so do you just add a certain weight of one wax and then another? Or do you make a huge tub of the blend right off the bat? Thanks for the help
  15. Can this be done? I use a blend right now, but with my main supplier going out of business, I am looking for something solid. I have played with 100% soy before but just couldn't get the "umph" out of it. Also, I think you have to wait for it to cool before pouring, which will hold me up while making them too (I like to move right along...). I thought I could ask here and see what the general consensus was. Thanks so much for any help
  16. The supplier actually told me it was probably water in it However, another kind person on here pointed me to another place I'm really hoping that it works out. So good probably came out of this, or I hope!

    2oz Dart Cups

I made an order from the Miami Place I really hope it works out (the new wax), they had some great fragrances too along with the cups. You'll have to let me know if there is water in yours too

    2oz Dart Cups

That is, thank you. I think you also linked me to their wax page. You rock, thanks for the links!!
  19. I was so excited to finally get my wax, now it has water in it... I am flippin out. Thanks for the links...I love KY, I really do, but I'm pretty shaken at the moment at the same time...

    2oz Dart Cups

I like the look of the 1 oz Ellipso cups, are they made of polyproplyene though? I see one person said they seem sturdy with tight lids (would be great for summer shipping) and another said they felt they needed a steadier hand while pouring. I am new to portion cups and was hoping to use them for summer shipping. I have some Dart 1 oz, but they don't hold an oz, I think I only got .8 in there, which is ok, but the lid won't fit *pout* Does anywhere sell samples of the 1 oz Ellipsos? Thanks
  21. I love the parasoy from Ky, but get freaked out when she runs out because I'm not a big enough operation to stock up. Does anyone know of anywhere else to get something simliar not only in performance but price? Thanks
  22. Hi everyone, I'm new here but hope you can maybe help. I found a thread here in regards to KY being out of stock again on the parasoy wax for tarts (the thread was old but still) and because I can't stock up on it, now I'm in a bad place because I'm down to half a case and have a new wholesale order. Anyways, I saw a few people mentioning that they get either the same or similar wax from another place and I wondered if anyone could share. I saw the JS has a blend but the cost of the wax is much higher and shipping will be almost double what Ky's is... I'm so hesitant to try something new because everyone knows how much time and testing goes into a new wax. But then again, this is the 3rd time I've been in this spot with this supplier in the past year... I did try her In house blend of wax and I liked it at first, but I kept finding floating things in it and then the last box I had was terrible and I had customers complaining. Any pointers appreciated, thank you
