topofmurrayhill
20 oz by volume, like in a measuring cup. 16 oz by weight as tlc26 said.
tlc26
but if you give her volume measurements and then she uses FO measured in weight it will throw off the percentages!!!
SatinDucky
When asking questions like this, it helps a lot to specify if you're asking about oz by weight or fluid ounces...
JudyN
I guess I'm asking about fluid ounces using a pyrex measuring cup once the wax is melted. So I think it is 16 oz - correct? Thanks
Candle Man
It depends on the wax not all measure the same because of specific gravity and how they act (if they shrink or not) but the average is 20 oz's. I think rounding to the nearest simple measurement is how most of us work.I can pour my own special container blend up to a line I have measured with water but after it sets and cools it shrinks below that line and needs to be topped off.

Dileepa Dharmasiri
20 oz by volume if you use a measuring cup. or 16 oz by weight. i.e. 1 pound equals 16 ounces. 1 lb = 16 oz.

The volume to weight measurement is not true for all waxes. Paraffins, soys, coconut, beeswax, blends of any/all of these are vastly different due to density. the other variable is the lines on the Pyrex and similar measuring cups are not accurate. This is a huge factor for cooking many chefs and home cooks learned the hard way. Always use a scale.
