FunFlames Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I was at Target the other day and picked up a 24oz bottle of the unscented baby formula. My question is what color is this supposed to be?? Mine is a dark brown and has an interesting scent to it. I am wondering if by chance mine went bad. If it can even go bad. I was super shocked when I checked out and it was only $3.87 (they had to look up the price) since online it is 14.99.TIA for any and all helpDanielle Quote
SiberianSF Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I buy unscented baby formula in bulk. But mine is light clear-yellowish color, and no scent at all. Quote
flightoffancy Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I got mine from Target, it is clear and virtually odorless. Definitely didn't pay $3.87 for it either! Quote
Dolphin146 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Got mine online It was on sale for 8.00. But it is a light yellow color with no scent. Quote
FunFlames Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 Thank you for all the replies.... it works very well, lathers like crazy and feels great but I think it has to be bad. Not sure how it could go bad... but I think I am going to have to take it back. Thanks againDanielle Quote
Flicker Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 To me it has an odd smell but I've made liquid soaps and they had the same smell. It's not strong but it's there. Kinda like how some people can't stand the cocoa butter smell of lotions and can smell it over everything! I think this smell is like that...may not be something most notice but some can't get over. LOLThe soap could be anywhere from a clear to a yellow to a green or brown depending on the oils. Color is rarely indicative of weather a natural soap is good or not. As long as it does not smell actually rancid and it's clear, no little floaties or mold in it I'd say it is fine. Quote
Candybee Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I'm gonna have to check out Target next time. Sounds like they were either having one heck of a sale on it or were underselling it. I can't even get an 8oz bottle at that price. Quote
FunFlames Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 here is a pic of the soap, I just poured it onto my counter. It is a very dark color and has kinda a nutty smell, not like shea, more like cakey. It is strange, not bad... but I don't think it is right.it is kinda clear, not really cloudy. If anything is has a bit of a shimmer to it.Danielle Quote
SiberianSF Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 so, now someone has to take a picture of their soap on the counter, and we can compare! Quote
COJECO Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I bought the same soap and wondered the same thing. I got it on clearance too for the same price. It seems fine to me? but I'm wondering now . . . Quote
FunFlames Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 mine didn't have a clearance sticker on it... none of them did... but that would explain it. I might try another target and see if theirs is any different. They had a pretty good selection of the Dr.s stuff.Danielle Quote
kestagano04 Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 I have the exact same soap, and mine is a yellowish brown, pretty sure that is normal. I've always thought it had a mildly strange smell, which I also think is normal. If your using it in your melt and pour, your fragrance should cover it just fine. I just made a batch with a little Dr. Bronners, and I can't smell it (the Dr. Bronners) at all. Quote
COJECO Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 They had the Dr Bronners Peppermint on clearance as well. I found it back in the patio section (inside the store) Quote
Sara Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Interesting. I've not had the kind intended or babies... is it different than the regular one? I've never seen it in anything but clear with very little color. Might be worth it to call the company.Looks like it has color online, but not as opaque... http://www.drbronner.com/DBMS/SENSITIVE.htm Quote
COJECO Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 The soap I got was the Dr. Bronners Organic Shikakai baby soap. Maybe that's why it's a darker color? Quote
FunFlames Posted March 22, 2009 Author Posted March 22, 2009 that is the one I bought too! in a tealy/light blue colored bottle Quote
Sara Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 The soap I got was the Dr. Bronners Organic Shikakai baby soap. Maybe that's why it's a darker color? Maybe... it seems there is some variance in the shades of soap. Wouldn't hurt to call, I suppose. I have had one soap that smelled off, a Jergen's soap. I bought it at the Dollar Store years ago and must have used some and forgot about it. When I took it out a couple weeks ago I thought there was something weird about it (the smell). My husband said it smelled fine. I tossed it, though. Quote
flightoffancy Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Here's the kind I have. It has a very faint yellowish tint to it but is clear and odorless. Quote
