Scales

Recommended Posts

Can anyone recommend some scales for me to look at? I'm looking for scales that measure more accurately than what I'm using.

I'm ready to get back into custom mixing my fo's now that I've recouped all the info that I lost when my husband threw my candle book out.

Check this one out - it's a lot of scale for about $45.00

I have the KD-600 which I don't think they make anymore - at least I couldn't find it when I searched the site -

But this one seems to be very similar

Of course, if you have $1,854.90 to drop on a scale you could always go for this one http://www.oldwillknottscales.com/citizen-ssh93.aspx :rolleyes2

A lot of people here use OWK scales - I have always liked mine

Dunno how small the increments you need should be, but I really like this one I got from Lone Star...

http://www.lonestarcandlesupply.com/products/candlemakingequipment_digital-scale-(55-pound).html

has a detachable front, tares, measures in grams, ounces, pounds, kilograms & ounces (& fractions of ounces). Will weigh up to 55 pounds, so it does double duty for both shipping and weighing FOs, etc. I got the AC adapter but to be honest, have not used it yet - the batteries have held up very well. Once I get my candlemaking stuff moved back to my son's bedroom (again!), I plan to make a permanent weighing station. HTH:)

I have 3 of the same one that Stella posted and each one died on me. I've also had the KD7000 and it died. I've had a few other types that died too. Now I have the Escali M-Series Digital Soap Scales from Bramble Berry and so far I am happy with it. I also don't have the bouncing around with my numbers as I did with all the other scales I've had.

Jeeze - what a drag y'all have had such poor experiences! The only time I had any trouble with my scale "bouncing around numbers" was when the batteries were getting weak. I put fresh ones in and it's perfect. I think using the a/c adapter would be even smarter.

I AM very careful not to put hot stuff on the scale w/o a potholder to insulate and I never leave ANYTHING setting on the scale when it is not in use. I am also careful to gently set things on the scale so as not to "rattle" the mechanism too much. Mine is a little over a year old. The first one we bought in '05 (that lives with my partner now) is still working also. Dunno if all that makes a difference in the longevity of the product, but so far, it's workin' great for me.
