TexasBrat
plain old freezer paper won't work in them?Probably would, but not to many peeps like to mess with all that folding and taping.
Jola
Probably would, but not to many peeps like to mess with all that folding and taping.True, I'm one of those people! haha! I think I'm going this week to get the molds so I'll let you know if I come up with anything new to line them with.
DebbieTX
I bought one of these over the weekend in Houston. I am going to get the clear quilter's forms to use in it and cut them to size before I put the drawers together. I am hoping this would eliminate the need for lining. I think it was Kimberly (sorry, I may have not had the name right) who said she used this to line her molds. You find it at Joann's. Will let you all know how it works. Darbla
Found this thread while looking up molds. Have any of you seen an item like this at stores of than IKEA? We don't have an IKEA in my entire state.
Starr
I'm kind of in the same boat. The closest one for me is several hours away and in places that I never travel to.
8-GRAN-ONES
the only thing i know you could do..if someone lives fairly close to you that does have an Ikea..maybe they would get it and send it to you...i have did that before...for those that couldn't get them...but unless it could fit into a large flat rate box...it would probably be expencive to ship...as they are heavy... LuminousBoutique
I live about 45 min from an IKEA, I have a version of this, where the bottom two are slab drawers and top three are the cubbies. It was a pain in the behind to put together.. it wasnt cut right at the factory I think, so we had to sand it down a bit and mess with it.. but once we got it put together its a nice solid piece. this is the one I have.. its 14.99 currently (I know we paid less for it back then..) The inside dimensions of the small drawes are just shy of 4" wide, just shy of 2.5" tall, and just shy of 9" long. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50073305Here is the one originally posted:http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80073304Its 19.99... and I can only imagine how annoying it would be to put together... but maybe worth it.There is also one that is three slabs, which I think would be useful to anyone who likes pouring slabs!http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60073300 Until I read this post.. I never even considered using it as a mold, but it would work really nice, although the soap would only be 2.5" tall if you filled it to the very top, I generally make mine 3 or so, but hey.. mine might be too big! I can see splitting a batch and doing a different FO for each cubby, and insulating the whole darn thing overnight! Tell you what... tonight I will try two different things for the drawers, because we arent currently using ours for anything. I will paint the inside of one drawer with OOMOO, and see if it will stick.. Because I have some laying around.. and the other with caulking silicone.. and then do some small test batches in them if they work out. It wouldn’t be too much trouble to line these with freezer paper, of course... but if its not necessary, why mess with it. Another thing IKEA rocks for... candle cups. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/36418000 http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20114171http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30157594

8-GRAN-ONES
not to discourage you, about lining with silicone..but i tried that..and it was a mess....the soap stuck like crazy...i had to tear apart the drawer to get to soap out..i started out lining with funky foam,,,which works very good...but i started gelling my soap, so it started warping...so i now line with butcher paper..and love it..and once you learn to line with paper..it is a breeze to do...you can use the paper over and over..i lov the size of these molds..to me they make a perfect size soap bar...with the width, you don't have to have quite the height to get the weight size of bar you want..thanks for those measurements...to bad they wouldn't fit into a FRB....we could send these all over the country to people that need them...quote=LuminousBoutique;810998]I live about 45 min from an IKEA, I have a version of this, where the bottom two are slab drawers and top three are the cubbies. LOLnope... its just the wood pieces wrapped in shrink wrap plastic, no extra packaging I believe the wood pieces are not too wide but they are an inch or so too long. I plugged all the info into USPS and it came back that it would be $16.77 for parcel post, it counts as a "large package" because it is over 12" long. That makes it cost almost $40 with shipping so yeah... kinda expensive.

LOL yep its a mess... I did a pretty good job of spreading it but I dont think I am going to use it because its still too lumpy and I think it would get stuck too.My OOMOO might work though, I havent tried it yet.. didnt have time last night, but I think I will get around to it because nothing has every stuck to my oomoo molds before. The only thing is its pretty liquid so I dont know if it will spread and stay, might be tricky!
8-GRAN-ONES
that maybe does sound high with shipping..but when you figure you get 9 log molds..that is stillpretty cheap soap molds...and these will last forever....i put mine in the oven all the time, to gell my soap..and i have not had one warp, or go bad yet..
