Margaritamama
Further to a question I posted in the General Candlemaking section, I've posted a pic of the candle in question. I still cannot tell if these are bubbles or tiny snowflake mottles. All three layers were made with the same wax and FO. The only variable was the dye. All were dye chips, except the dark layer which had a drop of liquid brown added.Any thoughts????
cybersix
Hey Margaritamama, I don't know how to call that, but the candle is very nice!!You know I'm not an expert, but to me it looks like mottling..mini-mottles!!
Kaybee23
looks like mottling to me, very pretty colors too.

Alohagirl
I do think those are bubbles in the top and bottom layers because I've had the same thing happen several times, usually because I poured at less than 180 degrees.Regardless though, that's a beautiful candle. :smiley2:
Henryk
What a coincidence you posted that. Pier One has a full line of pillars that look just like that - I think they are air bubbles. Naturally they look great - and so does your pillar. (Check out Pier One and you'll see what I mean - they may not be air bubbles, but they sure look like it). SatinDucky
If you really want to know for sure... look. Since they're in the bottom too, you could slice off about a 1/4" without ruining the candle. If it's air bubbles you should see the pockets inside...Looks nice
Margaritamama
Thank you - I tried that, and it's definitely snowflakes.... Never, ever seen them that small, but there were no bubbles in site, only tiny mottle. WEIRD!!! :undecided

Maybe my Pier One doesn't carry them, or else they're new stock..... I'll look again next week. Thanx :smiley2:
