CareBear
Obviously I'm just beginning my venture into wax and wicks.I'm getting nifty soy sampler from candlesandsupplies.com but don't know what wick types to get for soy! I've done a LOT of reading and so far have learned zinc is maybe not a good bet for soy - but what is? (I've got some of those wick sample packs but have used some of them up in my messing around so far, so need to order more wicks)I'm hoping, someday, to do containers AND pillars.Any general or specific guidance you all can give would be so helpful. erinmfritz
Maybe this would be a good poll, there was just one with the containers but this may be useful too. Just a thought.I like the ECO wicks best from what I've tried.
Stella1952
There was a recent poll. Here is the link:http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58815I use CDNs.

Candlebuddy
CareBear ... I use CD wicks in both soy and soy blend.
Tereasa
I've been a die hard LX fan. At some point I tested ECO's and didn't like them - can't find in my notes why (but that was with a different wax then I'm using now). I found the rest of my ECO sample pack and have been re-testing them this week, and I must say that they are pretty amazing. Mushroom is much better, HT has improved. I also have some premier's to test, but I think I might not because of how well the ECO's are doing. The only reason I haven't tested CD's extensively is because I use Candle Science for as much as possible since they are within driving distance.... Sally
I usually use Eco's in my containers & votives & LX's in my pillars, tho the LX tends to mushroom more with certain FO's so I'll probably try the Ecos again but twisted this time. Both LX & Ecos burn with a curl so the melt pool is a bit lopsided, a touch less so with the LX I think. There's little choice here, for wicks & everything else I use.Sally. SpaceGirl
CareBear,I use ECO's and CD's almost exclusively in my containers. To compensate for the curling I give them a slight twist but also offset them in the container to make up for it. I will say that I've been testing an HTP for the luxury candle swap and have been pleasantly surprised. Bad experiences with LX's.Zincs butns through everything, I swear. If they only didn't mushroom so badly.
CareBear
Wow - all over the place. I think this is going to be a real challenge since I need to pick a wax AND find wicks.I think I'll simply start with which wax esI like the LOOK of in candles, then work on wicking those! realmarcha
Mostly CDs in my soy containers; some of the hotter HTPs (1212 & 1312) for hard to burn fragrances. In my natural wax votives though, I like the HTPs.Now ask me about my pillar wicks and we will be here all night!
CareBear
Now ask me about my pillar wicks and we will be here all night! kids are in bed, i have a beer in my hand, and the vacuum cleaner is sitting here looking at me. so I have all the time in the world. TxGirl
CD Wicks have been the best for me in Soy.
Stella1952
Carebear, here's the choice I made. I am over 50 so the chances for me to sample and test everything and every combination on the market would take me well into my 90s!! Pick one of the top 3 waxes and one of the top 3 wicks and go for it!

Lantern Light Mama
all cotton square braid works great for me in my C3. No mushroom, great throw, even pool, it doesn't really curl, I haven't had to test any others because this one works well.
icecold
What type of wick is that? All cotton square braid? I use C3 and am looking for a different wick to use.
