  1. Shrink bands! This way you do not have to cover the entire jar and your label will stand out more. Cheaper too! Looks nice.
  2. As always FANTASTIC! Just beautiful!
  3. I like the glass best. Alot of people buy a candle to see the flame; in the tin you cannot. Also, another suggestion. I would make the label smaller; alot smaller. It takes up the entire jar and your customers will not be able to see the flame unless they peel off the label. Depending on what labels you are using, this could be a "pain" for your customers.:tiptoe: Hope this helps. Love the company name!
  4. Those are adorable! Not my team though I would give each one an "each" price and then a lower price for both. I do not do dipped bears so I cannot tell you what to price them at. Good luck!
  5. Very nice and colorful~excellent job!
  6. Very nice job! I would definately stop to see your candles!
  7. I have never worn a mask. This is probably a personal choice just like what wax you will end up using.
  8. What diameter is the tumbler? How much fragrance are you starting with?
  9. Gretchen, I totally agree with the above post GET AN ATTORNEY to write the letter. Big business responds to "legal" action...simple as that. As far as this new "excel" wax, well I have been using soy for 10 years now, and have tried mostly every soy, parasoy, additive, etc. to perfect my candle line, and guess what? I now use the soy wax I started with even with all its "natural wax" idiosyncrasies. Great looking candle, great scent throw, and NO color to worry about since I do not use it. I have had no problems selling my product without all the ADDED BS such as additives, not to mention no color which will complement any room decor. Will I try the new wax? probably not, those days of spending hundreds of dollars to find the "perfect" soy wax is over for me! In my humble opinion, there is no such thing as a PERFECT wax, whether it be soy or paraffin. Guess I should change my saying too...Scrooge is gone till the end of the year
  10. Absolutely stunning! I like to overlayered look on the pillar sides. Unique!
  11. 415 gets my vote. I have been using it for years, and have had no real issues. Once I learned its temperment, and how to work with it, it is actually easier to work with than the rest of the natural waxes I have tested...believe me, it has been many. HTH GEEZ! Need to change my saying at the bottom of my posts...ya think!?
  12. Thanks for answering my post! I do tap my molds; maybe not hard enough. I use wick pins and they are warmed with the pillar mold. My molds and wick pins are always clean...cleaned after each pouring session. What I cannot figure is, I did NOT have this problem until I moved. The smooth looking pillars is what I strive for. I have been using this wax for 3 - 4 years now, and have not had any issues until now. Go figure! I will look for the air bubbles and dislodge them if found. I will also try the box/blanket and see if that helps. As far as the water bath process, I do not have the room for it; not with the amount of pillars I pour. I am so baffled! Thanks again!
  13. Hello all! First let me say! I am using KY143 preblended pillar wax...great wax! I poured 64 pillars and 90% of them had pin holes on the sides. I did nothing different; same wax, same color, same fragrances, same process (heated mold; poured at same temps), etc. The ONLY thing different is we moved and the basement I now pour in is alot cooler than my old one (miss my house ). As the pillars cooled, I could tell they were cooling alot faster than in my old work space. Could this be the reason for the pin holes? If so, other than moving back to my old house , how can I avoid this in the future? I am thinking possibly heat my molds hotter; pour the wax hotter????? Thanks for any input you can give me and sorry this is so long!
  14. Reducing the fragrance may help the mushrooming. However, in my 8 years of experience with the 415, there is going to be some mushrooming no matter what wick you use. Most of the time, it depends on the fragrance you are using...some make the wick mushroom; some do not. I have noticed, when I reduce the fragrance load, the wick does mushroom a bit less. Don't you just LOVE testing?!? :rolleyes2
  15. Just gorgeous! God bless you for your thoughfulness. Wouldn't it be nice if all people were so giving? You are a dear!
  16. If you want to continue using a soy container wax, you could add a white beeswax to it so it will release from the mold. If you "search" the veggie wax section for "beeswax", you can probably find the soy/beeswax ratio for votives. HTH
  17. Actually, if you test a CD10 and an HTP83 side by side, they burn pretty much at the same rate.
  18. If you are talking about KY's All Natural Votive/Pilar wax, I have used it for years for my votives...makes beautiful votives. I found this wax to be a bit on the soft side for pillars. However, if you are not opposed to a paraffin blend, the KY143 is an excellent pillar wax...have used it for years too. HTH
  19. I order my Ultra Core wicks directly from Fil-tec the manufacturer. Their minimums are 1000 per wick size. However, they are really good about sending samples to test with. Here is the information for Fil-tec: http://www.fil-tec.com/ Ask for Greg Small, or Chip Rockwell. There are other suppliers carrying the Ultra Core wicks, but I do not know who. Maybe someone else can jump in here to answer that question. However, if you contact Fil-tec, I am sure they will lead you in the right direction. HTH
  20. I have been creating soy candles for 7 years now and have never tempered my wax(es). Of course, when I read it on this board, I did try it, but saw NO difference other than more work. HTH
  21. I have used cotton, HTP, and CD wicks for many years and found that all of them mushroom to one extent or the other. I have not found a wick that does NOT mushroom some. Mushrooming depends on quite a few different variables; additives; the amount of fragrances used; wax used, and the list goes on. I now use the Ultra Core line of wicks and could not be happier. They do mushroom some, but what I have found is they have a steady burn, a steady flame, and do not fizzle out, nor produce a "small" flame like other wicks I have tried. The do NOT curl. I use the 415 and a 9% fragrance load. I have found the 2.28 and the 2.4 are the two wicks I use the most. The harder to burn fragrances, such as Patchouli, tend to take a hotter wick. HTH
