Debra Phelps
I am tired of buying all of these pumpkin scents that don't smell like a true pumpkin pie. I have added all the ingredients (in oils of course) to make the pumpkin smell and it just doesn't smell like one. The only thing I didn't add was ginger. Maybe that is it. I added cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, sweet milk, vanilla. It was awesome, and now a very good seller, but it didn't smell like the pie. Last year I ate 3 pies, trying to match the taste. When and if I figure it out, I think I will patent it. I know I have tried 20 companies and have never found a true pumpkin pie scent. Ok, I had to vent. thank you:D

Jami
Don't feel bad Debra. Out of the gazillion pumpkin scents I have tried, I can't find a "true" one either. My favorite out of everything I have tried was the pumpkin souffle from CS.I even went as far as buying a can of pumpkin and pumpkin pie filling just to see what it smells like so I can tell if my smeller is just "off" lmao
Jeannie
LOL, I hear ya! If you ever find the one let me know girl. I went to a craft fair a couple years ago and there was this pumpkin candle that smelled so good. I think it was a homemade crafter too can't remember. Why can't I find something like that? Of course I didn't burn it though it could have been a dud too. You would think somebody would come up with the bomb pumpkin by now but boy is that one tuff. Debra Phelps
Your are right. They need a good pumpkin. But I have mixed and mixed and I just can't get one. Maybe I ought to cram some real pumpkin pie in the darn candle. And yes I have smelled some good ones out there. I think before I started making my own candles. But I can't remember where I smelled them. If you see this crafter again. Ask her where she got it. If she doesn't tell you, string her up by the neck, and tell her YOU WILL TELL ME, CANDLE LADY. :angry2: I hate it when they won't share. I understand why, but what goes around, comes around. I just got to have a true pumpkin.
Ring of Fire
If you have tried 20 companies and none had a fragrance close to what you think pumpkin pie smells like, that make millions of us idiots who think we have found lots of good ones. There have probably been 50 posts in the last weeks exclusive to pumpkin scents. I would have given up way before I hit 20 companies. You are not making a real pie, so adding what you call "ingredients" isn't going to cut it. Yeah, cramming some real pumpkin in a candle just may work. Make sure you go to the produce department and get those tiny pumpkins made to use for pies.
Darbla
You want true pumpkin or true pumpkin pie? Oh well, because your subject said just pumpkin I was going to mention that Crafy1_AJ said in another thread:"Candlewic has a straight pumpkin. I've only judged oob, but I don't smell any spice notes or bakery notes...just fruit."
karen lynn
I recently tested Pine Meadows pumpkin pie and it is the best one I have found so far..Lots of pumpkin & cinnamon in it and very strong as well..I actually ordered a 16oz bottle last week..You know how I am with pumpkin scents,so maybe it would be worth trying for you!As for the crust part,I don't smell the crust in it but I think I am going to add some graham cracker for that part and it will be perfect I think!? I definately smell the cinnamon & pumpkin notes and boy are they strong!!You could get a sample and see what you think? HTH Karen~
Candlebuddy
Karen, what did you test it in?
soycrazy
let it shine has a straight pumpkin too, but I haven't tried it yet.
aprillee
I have tried TFO and WSP. I liked WSP. TFO was a little bit too sweet smelling and would smell burnt. WSP to me, smelled like my grammies Pie w/o the burnt smell. Just my 2 cents.
grama
I ordered a straight pumpkin from either candlewic ( which is where I think it was or could have been genwax) but just smelling it oob was enough for me, poured it out:D Course know you're supposed to not judge by oob, but it was so horrible to me I didn't want to waste the wax trying it:grin2:I ordered the Sweet Pumpkin from Flickers but haven't made it yet, hope to in next day or so
karen lynn
I used it in EZ soy w/2% beeswax..I really like it but others may not..The best I have tried so far, just wish it had a little crust smell to it..Karen~
Sylvie
Have you tried adding a Pie Crust oil to supply the missing pastry note? DCS' (from BNL's line) Gramma's Pie Crust was one that was strong enough to stand out in a blend- I used paraffin. I'm sure other Pie Crust oils would work, too. nmhoneybear
As for the crust part,I don't smell the crust in it but I think I am going to add some graham cracker for that part and it will be perfect I think!? I have never even heard of pumpkin pie with a graham cracker crust. I would use a Pie Crust FO~ Aroma Haven has one that smells pretty accurate.
