starlessjade
DON'T set pour pitchers on burners, even if the stove is not on.You might just turn on the wrong burner and end up with a pour pot full of flaming wax.Ask me how I know.

Ramaroa
Oooops! I can see how easily that could be done, I do that when I'm cooking sometimes. I do hope there wasn't too much damage, it must have given you a fright.I have a halogen hob and there's a very fine line with what is on / off - many times I think I have turned the thing off only to realise later that it is still on. starlessjade
Fortunately the only damage was to my pour pitcher. I grabbed the nearest pot lid and stuck it on top, so I got it out pretty quick. My oven has a light that is on when it is preheating and turns off when it gets up to temperature. I'm used to one that has a light whenever it is on at all, so I have the hardest time remembering that just because the light is off, it does NOT mean the oven is off. sudsnwicks
Glad you're all right. I've done that with dishes before, and heard of someone who did it with a recipe book.

escentiallysoy
OH my goodness, I could see myself doing something like that. I have a gas stove now so I can easily see what is on and off, but you never know! Glad to hear you and your home are okay.
