elitenaildesign Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Where can I get this stuff? Or is there other types of silk fibers. Quote
Scent Cellar Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 You can get it from The Scent Works. Quote

CareBear Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I have some, I have left overs from a coop a few months ago. PMing you. That was a FUN co-op!!! I love my silk. Quote
wonderfullywicked Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Yup, Carrie ran a coop and it was great! Quote
elitenaildesign Posted January 8, 2007 Author Posted January 8, 2007 Can this stuff be seen in the soap? What is the benefit? Just asking because I saw it in a recipe and it sounded interesting and I always like to try new things. Quote
LovelyLathers Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 You can not see it in the soap, you put into the lye water. It dissolves. I use it in almost all of my soaps. I love it. IMO it Makes them silkier and also adds more creamy lather. An oz will go along wa as you only need a pinch or so. Like a small cotton ball. Quote
pj'snana Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Oh, I agree with the silk improving the feel and lather of your soap. I got some from Carrie when she did her coop. I love it and don't make any soap without it.Dorothy Quote
friendlyMOM Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 i have some I can give you if you want to try it, just convo me Quote
Soapmaker Man Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 I bought an 8 ounce bag of Tussa Silk Noils from The Woolery this last spring. 8 ounces is like a huge cotton candy bag! Since I found them, I have sent a lot of soapiers to them; and everyone loves their silk! GREAT PRICING! Scroll down to the "TUSSAH SILK NOILS" about 2/3 down the page. They sell 8 ounces for only $12.00Here is the link;http://www.woolery.com/Pages/fibers.html#exoticPaul.... Quote
Carrie Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 I got a sample of that silk, it was very low quality. It is nothing like the Tussah silk I cooped. It had so much debris in it. I saw you post about it at the same time I was researching for the silk coop so I ordered a sample. I don't know that I'd use it. Can I send you a sample of the tussah silk I cooped? Quote
CareBear Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Paul, I have some of that too. I don't like that I have to filter my lye sol'n to get the bits out, but then because my dishwasher sucks so bad I always end up with floaters in my lye sol'n which I want to strain out anyway. The Tussah is unbelievable - Look for the thread of the co-op and see Carrie and her family wearing it as wigs - it's so silky and gorgeous. Probably overkill for soaping, but it's so lovely I can't go back! Quote
Meridith Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Love, love, love the silk in my soaps. It makes such a difference. I can't imagine soaping without it. Quote

Probably overkill for soaping, but it's so lovely I can't go back! You won't find it. Coop threads are only up until the coop is finished. There is like only 2 pages of coops usually at a time. I wish I could have seen it though. I missed seeing Carrie and her family in their silk wigs. That must have a been a riot. Was it one of your finer moments Carrie? LOL Quote
CareBear Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Apparently it was Maryann's family - oops. Still a hoot! Quote
Soapmaker Man Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 That would be fine, I'd like to see this silk! Thanks Carrie! I cam PM you my snail mail addy! It is true there is some debris in this silk. I bought 2 doggie wire brushes and comb my silk free of the debris. It takes only a short time to clean an ounce of the cacoon pieces. Please contact me....and thanks! Quote

Meridith Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 How'd you do that? I thought the COOPs were deleted once over. My computer only shows 2 pages of coops that are pretty much current ones. Scented Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 If Carrie has enough, get it all. It's great stuff and you could make a wig out of most of it ... I think someone here did. Quote
