  1. I love cphp....I usually take some of the cooked soap out...maybe a cup or two..stir it to cool it a bit, add the fragrance oil, then mix that soap back into the main pot of soap...fragrance oil never burns off.
  2. I wish I had read this before I placed an order 3 weeks ago. It says the order is processing. I have e-mailed with no response. I called today and got a recording, but it wasn't answered Kangaroo Blue. I tried to leave a message but the machine cut off after about 30 seconds. Thankfully, they haven't charged my credit card. I sent them an e-mail to cancel the order. They used to be good. You got your order in a timely manner and the products were good. Sorry to hear they are gone.
  3. Thanks Carrie for your advice. I will give it a try. Dorothy
  4. I make soap for a hobby. I had not made any in a while. Early this morning I made a 3 lb. batch. I do CPHP. The recipe called for 518 gm of water and 186 gm of lye. I used 136 gm of lye. I did not realize it until I was measuring for the next batch and saw that I had used the wrong amount. By that time the soap was cooking in the crockpot. I poured it into a mold and of course it is very soft. What should I do about this or is there anything I can do? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Dorothy
  5. I am a hobbyist. I have bought quite a few FO's from Just Scent and I have been happy with all of them. Her prices are actually quite good. I agree with the statement about WSP...they are expensive and I haven't been as happy with some of them. My daughter-in-law's favorite is Cotton Blossom and I only buy it from Tony's, no matter the price because imo it is the best. I believe if you try Just Scent you will be pleased. Customer service is good also. hth. Dorothy
  6. Their Cotton Blossom fragrance is awesome. Dorothy
  7. I am not sure if this is the correct place to post, but I just wanted to let everyone know what I saw at Wal-mart yesterday. I was buying vitamins and saw a 16oz. tub of extra virgin coconut oil. It was 9.97. It was in a white tub and said it was a health supplement. I don't know how that compares to on-line, but if someone just wanted a small amount to play around with, this could be helpful. Just thought I would share. Dorothy
  8. I usually use 0.5 oz. per pound, unless it is not a strong fragrance and then I use 3/4 ounce. I take a little bit of the cooked soap out in a small bowl and stir a bit until it cools and add the fo to that. Then I add it back to the crockpot of soap. It doesn't burn off if I do it that way. Dorothy
  9. Congratulations on your first batch of HP!! Sounds like you did great. The steam might have been from the cool FO going into the hot soap. I usually take a little of the hot soap and put it in a bowl and stir for a few minutes to cool it down and then add the FO to that and then add that back to the hot soap. It doesn't steam that way and maybe some of the FO doesn't "burn" off. Welcome to the addiction of hot process......instant gratification! Dorothy
  10. The first Obsession for men that I got was from Sweetcakes and it is excellent and very expensive. Then I got one from Save on scents, stay away from that one. It isn't good at all. The last sample I got was from Royal Aromatics and it is very good and much cheaper than Sweetcakes. My oldest son loves it. Dorothy
  11. I only make bath and body products, I bought some designer oils from them one time and they were weak.
  12. I only make soap and bath and body products (hobbyist, don't sell) and I love her fragrance oils. Her Lovespell and Chanel # 5 are great. I have a lot of her samples, she is always generous to include them, and many times I have ordered larger sizes of the free samples. She is where I get most of my fragrance oils. Dorothy
  13. I have ordered from her and I have been very happy with all the products and customer service. That is where I got my Axe dupe's that my son likes. Dorothy
  14. I use it in HP soap, and also in creams, lotions, and bath melts, and it is wonderful. Smells just like the real thing to me and the scent hasn't faded. Dorothy
  15. I just recieved my order from Green Leaf. The Paul Sebastian dupe does not smell even close out of bottle. But I do plan on making a small batch of soap and see how it does there. I also got their aqua di gio for men and it was right on, but the cool water for men was a little off and their cashmere mist was a little weak. Of course all this is out of bottle. We will see how it does in soap. If anyone knows of another place to get Paul Sebastian that is good, please let me know. I have a dear friend I would like to surprise with this fragrance. Thanks Dorothy
  16. Has anyone tried Exotic fragrances? They are expensive, but they do have an extensive list.
  17. Carol M, I have one mold I do the exact same thing with the fabric!! It works. I have two others my son-in-law made for me using the wing nuts. How neat that someone else uses the fabric sling. Dorothy
  18. Oh, I agree with the silk improving the feel and lather of your soap. I got some from Carrie when she did her coop. I love it and don't make any soap without it. Dorothy
  19. Thank you so much for the replies. I am going to order some samples from Green Leaf. Dorothy
  20. Does anyone know who has a duplication of this fragrance that is accurate? I read that save-on-scents has it, but that it is only close. Has anyone gotten it from anywhere else and felt it was accurate? Thanks Dorothy
  21. I only do HP in the crockpot. I add silk and sugar to the lye water, and since adding silk, I find the soap is a little easier to mold, and the lather is incredible. I just cook mine to the stage that looks like applesauce (or translucent). I don't stir while it is cooking. Then I stir it really well and it looks like mashed potatoes. I read somewhere that when you stir it, if it sticks to the spoon, it is done. Then I add all my goodies and spoon it in the mold and bang it on the floor till it smooths into the corners. The tops are rough, but I use a log mold and when I cut it the top just looks textured. HTH. Dorothy
  22. My 15 year old son likes kilo and essense.
  23. Congratulations! CPHP is the only method I do. In fact, I just put a batch of Pumpkin Pie Spice in the mold. This hobby is so addictive. The best part of CPHP is I get to use a bar in the shower tonight.
  24. I take my HP soap right to the shower not long after I cut it. Granted, it is still somewhat soft and won't last as long as a bar that is a couple of weeks old. But as far as having the lye cooked out, etc. it is safe to use. Dorothy
