Sndfrddy
Had my first Open House this past Saturday. Had it for 4 hours. I poured up quite a few candles before because I had no idea how many would come. We put about 90 flyers in near-by newspaper boxes. My business is realtively new so I sent out about 15 E-mailed Newsletters too. Set-up wasn't too bad. I put out only 5 of each scent with a little sample jar near and a tent card with the scent. My son would replenish a scent from my shop downstairs whenever one sold. I only sell one kind of candle (about 36 scents total) so it was all pretty simple. Took my 2 kids and I about 15 minutes to put everything away. Now I have inventory poured up. Only about 12 people showed , but each purchased quite a few so I made just over $900. But the thing both my husband and I said was we had so much fun with everyone. Since the Open House I've had people say they heard about it and my candles, so hopefully by next year it will grow even more. I think for our first year I'd consider it a success. I like this much better than craft fairs!

ShelleyBean
Nice job! I would be very happy with that amount. And just think, everyone who came will tell someone I'm sure, and word of mouth is a very good advertiser
cbarber03
Congratulations! Word of mouth is the best kind of adverstising, at least that is what I have found! So I would think next year, or whenever you do you're next open house, should be better! Good luck, and again congrats! :highfive:
Darwin
That is a great amount. My first open house was last year. The electricity went out and my whole block had a power outage all night. Only my family came. Everyone else that I invited thought that we were not home and did not even come up to the door. LOL

LynnS
That was good.I am also planning a last minute Open House and if goes fine then maybe one for Spring.Shows are fair but it is the long hours, set up and just not having at times that certain scent people are looking for.I should just stay with 1 jar size because that is all they buy.8 ounce JJ.LynnS

KristinesShower
We have one every year at the store and I've found that if you take a couple invitations to your local banks, grocery stores, etc - they may just copy them for you and put them into shopping bags of their customers!*It helps when you shop at their grocery store or bank at their bank *

LOLThat would be my kind of luck!Maybe you should have lit a path of candles leading up to your door to let them know you were home!?
