Candle Man
If you are using clam shells for wax melts, you don't clean them. You pour wax into clam shells, top off if it needs it, close lid & label now your done.
Candybee
I was wondering about that too. W\why are you cleaning them? Did they arrive dirty? Are you reusing them? Or are you cleaning the sides off of spilled wax? (I do this) Sometimes I have sloppy pouring days.
silverm00n
wait am I doing something wrong here? I'm using the 1oz. molds from peaks, I pour the wax, let it set, and then pop them out... right? Or are clamshells and tart molds different? Georgia
Ah, different critters. Clamshell are (usually) 6-cavity plastic cases that you fill and label. But I rarely cleaned my tart molds when I made them and when I did I just set them upside down on paper towels on a cookie sheet in a warm oven.Oh, and gardening gloves are very useful to avoid slicing your fingers open when wiping them out! silverm00n
oops, thank you! Yes the tart molds, those are the beasts!
Candybee
I just put them on a cookie sheet upsidedown in a warm oven and let the excess wax drip off. Works everytime. I sometimes wipe em off too with a soft cloth or paper towel if I don't want the last FO scent to mix with new tarts.

AngelaVA
Cleaning tart molds for me just means laying them on a cookie sheet lined with paper towels and then turning the oven on for a while. But I rarely need to do even that if I'm careful when pouring and spill wax everywhere. I also don't clean my molds after every batch. Once the tart pops out, there is no wax left inside the mold and any scent remaining doesn't transfer to the next tart.
