thecandlespastore Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 I notice some recipes calling fotr salt, sugar, etc. Any tips on getting a hard CP bar when using oils known for creating a soft bar? Hope that makes sense:cool2: Quote
Lorrie Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 I have heard salt will make a harder bar. And sugar is supposed to help with bubbles. Quote
thecandlespastore Posted June 16, 2006 Author Posted June 16, 2006 When do I add the salt and the sugar? Quote
Scented Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Can't answer about salt, but the sugar goes into the water before the lye. Stir it up till it dissolves. It won't dissolve if lye has been added. Quote
Kaybee23 Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 How much? 1 T per pound? That is how much I use in my batches. You can also use sodium lactate for a harder bar, at 3% x oz., or .5 oz pp of oils. Quote

jwahlton Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Water discount like AJ said. I do both salt and sugar in my water before adding lye, 1TBSP of sugar and 1 tsp of salt PPO. You could add a little beeswax too Quote
