My New Stall Set Up - Any Suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Got this set up in my dining room at the moment for a show on saturday.

First pic shows my pie soaps, soap slices, scroll soaps, bath bombs, salts, lip balms, aromatherapy creams and bath milks and bath tea.

Second pic shows my candles (tins, jars, pillars, votives, novelty and melts)

Shelving unit which sits between the L shape shows simmering granules, room sprays and accessories

Please excuse the mess in the background - there's boxes everywhere.

Only just set this all up so if there are any seasoned showers out there who have any suggestions - please let me know!

I am by no means, a pro. I have done only one show so I can't really comment on your whole set-up. The first thing that jumps out at me is that there is so much to choose from. I'm not saying that's good or bad. Personally, I like variety. Maybe some day I'll be able to offer many of the things that you have. The only thing that I would be concerned about is (if it's an outdoor show) that your little price cards will blow away.

Sorry I'm not more help.

you're right about the cards jeff - I ordered an extra large load of mold sealer recently though so I thought I may stick them down with that - or blue-tac!

I do have a lot of stuff to choose from and tried not to overload the tables with tons of the same thing. My moto is, the longer someone stays to look at ALL your stuff, the more time you have to talk them round to buying things.

I did try a table that only had the same style of candles and only one or two soap varieties in larger quantities and the sales were slow. With the new set up where I only show one or two of each size/type but have very obvious back ups (i have candles and stuff lined up on the shelving unit so people don't think that the candles on the table are all I have) the sales are much better. People have to come over and look rather than being able to walk past without stopping because they can see everything on the table straight away.

It's really hard to get the balance right - this set up may be all wrong as it's so newly organised that it's only ever been on display in my dining room!

It'll be expensive! You'll need an air ticket to the UK first, and then come and find me at the Harbour in Herne Bay, which is on the South East coast of England. Should be a nice setting - it's an all day craft fair around a bandstand on the harbour, next to the pier.

I like the variety, I think you're right that it won't let people just glance to see what you've got.

Maybe the only thing I'd change is block out the colors a bit more so it flows - in each section keep similar colors together so you get a swath of color..

very nice idea - and completely do-able too. I'll have a go at that in a little while - i think it may reduce the "busy" look that I'm a bit worried about if all the colours were together.

thanks!!

I think it looks great and i agree variety is better. Different strokes for different folks as they say. I think variety makes people want to look around more to. Your 9 oz hex containers look great, are they done with chunks? Best of luck at your show and your things look great so you should sell alot. Lin

The scroll soaps intrigue me...please explain. (I'm not a B&B person.)

I think it looks great. I'm with you in that I want people to have to stop in and look and smell. My question would be, where will you be? I messed up at my last show and stuck myself behind the tables. Luckily there was no one next to me so I could go around to the side. I like to leave a space between tables where I can be...out of the way, but able to get into the selling area if need be. I don't like to be stuck behind the tables. Of course, if you are constantly ringing out sales, being stuck behind the tables is not a bad thing!

soap scrolls - just melt & pour soap with a white scroll embed - see bottom right of first table.

positioning - I'll be behind the table - my spot at the show is a good one, I have no one behind me or next to me. Behind are some concrete flower beds and behind the other table is a wall overlooking the sea. People come up to my table and can't walk past - they have to go back the way they came.

Height - I thought having a 7ft shelving unit was an eye-catcher? I also bought several clear perspex risers and boxes so that that my stuff isn't just flat on the table. Not sure what else I can do?

9oz hex containers? I don't think I have any of those?

I have a really large square jar with the corners cut off which is filled with St Clements with a fruit slice embed in the top - but no chunk candles at the moment, I sold out last week and not had time to make more.

Only other hex containers I have are those on the shelving unit - they're filled with simmering granules.

Looks really great! And once you set it up at your show, it will be the last time it looks really great, lol. I predict you will forever be straightening your table, but it will be worth it because your set up looks wonderful! I get so frustrated some times with customers - sometimes it looks like a tornado came through my booth because some people seem to have an aversion to putting things back where they belong after they pick them up.:rolleyes2

lol you're right - it'll be a mess in no time. It took me 4 days with the stall set up to work out where to put it all and some kid will come along, pick up a jar candle and say "ooooh look mummy".......and then crash as it shatters to a million pieces when he drops it.

And I have to smile whilst standing on my own foot and biting the inside of my cheek and said "never mind, accidents can happen"

Thanks for all the nice messages though - am packing it all into crates at the moment!
