Saltbox Pantry
Hi there,I just started testing with that jar and I started out with HTP 105 and it seemed to burn really nice. Try it remember you will have to test burn for approx 3 hours to see if you achieve the required melt pool.Saltbox Pantry:)
AngelaVA
A 44 zinc works well for me in these jars with J50. Wicking is pain, but once you get it down, it's worth it. Anyone can buy crappy candles from the mall, but it takes a lot of hard work and patience to craft something by hand. Don't give up!
izzy2
44 zinc here. I've only tested one so far (have a few more poured and ready to test) and so far it is going good with the 44z. HTH
Grumpy Girl
I don't use your wax, but I've wicked these with a HTP 93 and a 104 depending on the FO.

AngelaVA
I use the 44-34-18z. I get mine from BCN, if that makes any difference at all. I've tested about 10 FOs in these jars and a 44z worked in all, but one (Key Lime Pie from Snowtop).
Saltbox Pantry
Just an update on my testing this jar......well yesterday after doing another burn.....3 hours. I tried to put the lid on and my jar broke...... hot wax on the container. I was not impressed! I will not be using these jars for candles...even thought they are designed for the candle industry, these are so thin can't see how they can with stand the heat.Saltbox Pantry

I reuse my testers all the time, but they are all still intact. Where did you get your jars from, if you don't mind me asking?
Saltbox Pantry
Hi,They are from The Jar Store but I bought them through Canwax.....so I don't know.... maybe just the one out th case. But I tell you I'm afraid to put them out for sale in fear this will happen again. I really like the look of this jar and I was so dissapointed. harley1231
This board has THE MOST SUPPORTIVE andHelpful people I've even known!!Thanks for all the replies!! If anyone else has had experience with these jars and j223 wax please chime in. My jars dont seem thin..put the lids dont want to stay on some of them. ( got them at candles & supplies in PA.) I have read over and over on here that the jars from fancycandlejars were quite thin. Is thatwere you got your jars Saltbox Pantry?? I deciced I won't be placing another order for wicks until after I recieve my free wax sample from Brenda at Greenleaf.I'm waiting on pins & needles after hearing all the great reviews on that wax!!! I guess from there I willdecide which wax I like the best to put in the jars for gifts and which ones I'll just keep for myself.Hopefully I can get both of the waxes wicked correctlyin these jars by mothers day!! Besides the challenge of wicking.....My biggest desire is to present my mom and sisters acandle with great hot throw and NO Sooting!!! Those are thetwo biggest reasons for making them myself for gifts!..well, and it seemed like a fun idea ..at the time!
mterrell77
I also used to use these jars and used the 44-34 zinc wic. I quit using them because they constantly broke on me and my customers. It was when they would take off or put the lid on. I did get them from the jar store and talked to them about it and they said that there was a problem with the rim of the lid not fitting correctly with these and that they were trying to correct it. I just got so many complaints from my customers in which the jar broke that I quit them altogether. I do wish you the best of luck though...they are good looking jars! Saltbox Pantry
No I got my jars from Canwax in Canada but they are ordered in from the The Jar Store......I found the same with the lids not fitting and the tops are slanted. Actually I was testing my GL wax in this jar (before it broke) and I really do like it. I think I will be using this wax along with my El Soy.Saltbox Pantry:)
Grumpy Girl
I get the ones from Libbey and haven't broken one yet. I've reused a couple of them many, many times for testing. More times than I care to think about.
harley1231
Do you have a link for the libby ones??
Rsvlbrat
You may want to use just a little less fo. The vanilla seems to be one of those you use less of. Just a thought...hth
Grumpy Girl
I get my metros locally at the libbey glass outlet here in town, although right now I am a little bit more than pissy about them raising the prices to $41 a case. Still cheaper than what I can get them shipped in for, so I'll have to put on my big girl panties and just deal with it.
Stephanie
I just got some samples of the metro jars from The Jar Store and I thought they seemed a little thin. The lids definitely feel more sturdy. Would love to know if you can order these from Libbey? I really like this jar and would hate to waste time testing to give up on it.
