  1. Very nice! I've been away from candlemaking for a while now too and am getting the itch to return.
  2. That's really exciting - Congratulations!
  3. Hi everyone, I am in dire need of help: I am pulling my candle supplies from the cobwebs (and I'm sooooo excited!) to make a coworker a mantle candle (12" x 4" x 3") with 5 wicks for an office bridal shower. I haven't used this mold before. I don't even know where to begin with the wicks since I've never made a candle with more than one wick in it. Can anyone help - or even provide a formula for figuring it out? I have a decent variety of wicks on hand. Thanks so much! Stephanie
  4. I'm impressed! It certainly doesn't look like your first show. Your set up is really nice. I especially like your display for tealights. I've always had a hard time with those.
  5. Those look great! Did you have to adjust your wicking at all?
  6. Love them all! Amish Harvest is one of my favorites too. I never get tired of that one.
  7. Did you ever find a good dupe for this? I've recently discovered this fragrance and would love to make some candles and body spray.
  8. Forgive me if this was already mentioned, but you all wrote such detailed posts and it's late enough that reading is bound to put me to sleep. With that in mind, how about teas... bath teas, drinking teas, teacups, etc. I'm thinking about the entire spa/relaxing/bath experience. Whereas wine would be my choice of beverage , I'm sure many would adore a lovely cup of hot tea. Boy, that sounds nice right now! BTW, I'll be reading those detailed posts tomorrow. I KNOW there are great ideas there!
  9. I didn't do it with candles (go crazy buying stuff, that is), but I seem to be buying loads of B&B supplies that i have NO idea what to do with. So, it comes from every angle.
  10. So funny how everyone is different. I've used Peaks and 1/4 oz is all I can bear/bare(?). Not my favorite, but way too strong. mac apple is one that isn't strong enough!
  11. I had a request by my MIL for something spicey, Pumpkin Spice wasn't doing it, Chai Tea wasn't doing, among others. Sooooo, I combined the two and voila! a seller. I put the two, 50/50 at 1 oz and sniffed. Smelled fine to me. Did well enough in wax. One customer alone buys enough to keep me making it. Not into the q-tip. I need to get my nose in there! BTW, the two FOs are from different suppliers.
  12. Anyone know who's selling metros not made in China?
  13. I was going to try samples from Fancy, but now I'm a bit turned off by their attitude. I had some metro samples from the jar store and thought they were thin and that the lids were more sturdy than the jar itself. I mentioned it to Paula and she said that's they way they are because they are frosted. Well, i have frosted jars from another supplier that aren't thin by any means. Suppliers have different quality, so it pays to shop around. And, by the way, they should be vying for your business. I think good customer service goes a long way. Don't give your business to someone who disrespects you.
  14. Is there anyway to convert ounces to mL? I tried an online conversion calculator but it wouldn't work. I'm trying to make (finally!) lip balms. I just want to start with very small batches at a time. I have a base and just need to add the flavor oils at 1 to 3%. I've figured I'd start at 2% which is .06 oz of oil per ounce of base, but it's so light it won't show up on my scale. Any tips? Or is it impossible to make such a small batch?
  15. I'm not a floral person either so I'm not totally in love with the scent. I like the idea of toning it down though - what is VCO, and how much are you using? Never mind, figured it out. But how much are you using? BTW, I vote for the clear label. Love it!
  16. I made some of this for my daughter. It's a fantastic concept - wish I had come up with it. We have a ritual of spraying (I do the spraying) in certain areas of her room every night. When she's wanted to spray I push her finger down - she's never been able to do it herself. That said, I'd never put her to bed with it or hand it over...
  17. Thanks so much Donita! I've always loved crackle in paint - now in a candle! Can't wait to try it !
  18. I keep seeing this great crackled pillars in the Gallery and would love to try this technique, but Donita's link is "inaccessible". Can anyone help me find the instructions? TIA
  19. Their conditioner and shampoo look interesting. Would you only add EO or FO to it?
  20. Well, then I guess I'm going to have to try a few of them. Is 1 oz enough to play around with or should I get more of each?
