nickel889
Hello, Are the small beads of liquid (assuming FO?) appearing on the surface of this candle normal? It has been lit for around 20 minutes. Wax is bw917- coconut, soy & beeswax. FO added at 170 per manufacturer instructions. Thanks!
NightLight
Some waxes do that but you need to add your fragrance at higher temp to incorporate into the wax. Adding lower is myth.
TallTayl
It would help to know a little more before committing to a conclusion, but the pic appears to be sweating the coconut component of that wax. When I tested that wax the temps to add fragrance were a bit more forgiving than other soy blends, especially if stirred very well before pouring. The wax performed, to me, like it is primarily soy with a bit of coconut oil. Coconut oil added to soy candles sweats like “dew” when first lit just like that. - what fragrance did you use? - how much fragrance did you use? -how long did you stir before pouring? - how long did you cure the candle before you lit it? @CandleCocoon is an expert in the wax and may have more targeted advice. nickel889
@NightLight thanks, I will play around with temps. I poured different bw917 candles last night and looking at them this morning, the tops are smooth but almost have a swirl like effect... is this another sign the FO is not bonding? nickel889
@NightLight @TallTayl FO: 4% lavender lullaby by Candle Cocoon Stirred initially for 1-2 minutes then on and off until 150 pour temperature reached. Candled cured for 3 days.
